    This piano has so much depth in sound, yet it's crystal clear!

    180cm was the shortest piano they built at the time, indicating that Bechstein only targeted the top slice of the market. The crown above the name is there to remind people that Bechstein was the most common piano in many royal courts.

    C Bechsteins are my favorite pianos. This one doesn't disappoint. Such a beautiful, well-rounded tone. in my opinion, only a Baldwin can challenge it.

    That is the genuine article. New pinblock, with No. 0 or No. 1 pins? The new Bechstein grands, as made now in Seifhennersdorf no longer have 88 agraffes, but a capo D'Astro bar like everyone else.

    It has a wonderfully rich and gorgeous sound, and you chose some excellent pieces to display the qualities of the piano. And played them excellently as always.

      That B flat major mazurka in particular sounds great and Robert really does justice as it emphasizes the second (or third) beat in triple meter.

      @PatGoltz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ecoRfan Robert plays it sprightly and playful, an excellent and very enjoyable interpretation, like Chopin intended.

      @@PatGoltzI love this rendition. First beat is rather staccato to emphasize beat two more. Other interpretations go kind of too legato on the first beat. And the rubato is just enough, but minimal enough to keep it danceable, as it is a dance work. The shift in tonal colors throughout really exemplifies the piano’s possibilities.

    The character of the deep powerful tone hit me straight away with your regular intro and that's through budget bluetooth headphones. It must sound and feel amazing. Off to practice my electric Yamaha

      I typically listen to Robert’s piano vids on Raycon Everyday earbuds. Could call them “budget Bluetooth headphones” although sound better than most.

    정말 놀랍네요. 100년이 넘은 벡쉬타인 피아노의 성능과 음색이 그대로 남아있으니, 트레이닝과 보관을 매우 잘했다고 봅니다. 좋은 피아노에 훌륭한 연주와 설명에 감탄했습니다. ^^

    One detail you avoided, Robert: all grands made by Bechstein in 1909 were rocker-arm "tied action" type. First rate for the time, but in the normal course of overhauling (see videos from Roberts Pianos UK) the rockers are removed, replaced with brass capstans and the touch weight compensated. Was this already done to this Model A, or not? Be clear about that point.

      Do you know any piano technician who is willing (and paid enough) to actually regulate a tied action and do this really well?
      Thank god, I know one and he spent a full day on regulation of my 220cm beast: th-cam.com/video/eT2s3n_n0Eg/w-d-xo.html
      The beast has been restored - not repaired or rebuilt - to its original state. And I dare you to find a better sounding (and playing) Bechstein 220 of that age on youtube.

      @@ScottDuncan53he must be because that comment is asinine. Debussy himself fell in love with a Bechstein. Certainly a far cry from the works of Liszt. What a joke of a comment
