I kinda softbricked my Wii U today; If I turn it on and press X, it boots the EL subsequently Tiramisu/Aroma, and everything is fine until I select a user, that's when my Wii U soft locks in a loop of the floating things background and the starting music, but unable to open the Wii U Menu. Hi, I bought a raspberry and I'm trying the method to get rid of the CBHC but I didn't get a result and I've been trying for about 5 hours, I've tried in all ways and files, I don't see any errors on the SD card reader or on the Wii itself U on read so I don't know how to proceed, console just shuts off when I put peak
This is the reason I done the recovery because my Haxchi would keep looping and I had to install every time on startup to play the games. My Wii U kept shutting off like you, this is what I did. 1. I transferred both recovery menu files in my Sd-Card 'recovery_menu' 'recovery_menu_dc_init', no idea if this makes a difference but they were both on my card when it worked. 2. I cleaned out all the front USB ports and Sd-Card slot with compressed air. 3. Make sure you have nothing else plugged in to the front and rear USB ports. 4. I used a micro USB from my old samsung phone, as the cheap micro USB I had wasn't providing enough power, you can test this on your PC your PICO will struggle to stay connected or error about unrecognised USB device. 5. I plugged it in exactly as the Wii U logo appeared, every time I had a delayed reaction for a second or two my Wii U would turn off instantly. Hope this helps.

sorry but do you mean the menu appeared after the shutdown or after you did another restart? Mine just puts the console back into standby. Do I need to leave a little longer after the rasp shutdowns the wii u and the menu should appear?
@@IamYoBBoIt appeared when I'd connected the rasp and few seconds it popped up. I guess I had some failed tries 'cause I connected the rasp a bit late and the menu just didn't appear. At the moment you see the WiiU logo, connect the rasp as fast as you can. That's all I can tell you. I recorded it. If you want to see my try I can upload it on TH-cam.
from what I found in the latest version if it doesnt read from the sdcard it will shut off the console which it does in my case. I have tried multiple sdcards but no luck so far.

So for those of you that can't see the recovery menu I tried for hours, but just rename the second recovery file to recovery_menu and worked the first time. Popped the pico in as soon as wii u logo came and it's working good as new. Thx

i keep trying with this method and my wiiu either reboots or shuts off. however it does take a few seconds to show the logo on screen with my tv so i am not sure if its already being displayed or not before it actually shows on the tv. tried to see if it would show up on the game pad but the game pad just tells me to put my tv to the wiiu's hdmi input when it already is. i put the usb in right when the logo shows up. :(
I now get the power light to stay on but nothing on screen. I even tried the other recovery menu on the GitHub. I'm either doing it too late or too soon. As by the time it shows on screen it just shuts off when I insert the usb

The Wii U powers off? I honestly have no clue about differences between pi zero and pico but other viewers mentioned that pluging in before the Wii U logo worked better for them. Maybe that is the case here.

it is 100% safe and wont brick your Wii U any further. But I can not tell you if this will help you, or if this will even work at all. But again, I cant think of a single way to harm the console with this, not even intentional. Good luck, and let me know the result please.

How do I know if the udpih file is copied? it closes very quickly. I have made many attempts and I have not been able to, my wii U did not pass the logo

Hey, great video man. But I tried installing a CBHC with a fake DS game, and got the memory error 160-0103. It was 2017 and the SD card I used for the Wii U has been wiped years ago. Is it still worth it buying a Pi Pico to try to fix it??
Yes, I am pretty confiident that this should work in this case. But I cant be 100% sure. Edit: Other Users have reported that it will not work on 0103 errors.

I bricked my wii U over a year ago with error 160-0101,. This didn't even take 5 minutes to set up, and it worked perfectly! I can now enjoy my Wii U games again! Thanks so much ! 😄😄
I managed to get into the recovery menu and set the cold boot to US, once I did that I restarted my wii u and it gave me the same error. Any idea why I keep getting this error?
@@Kakeen Same problem as me, I was able to get into the recover menu and set the boot to US but I'd still get the error code when I reset my Wii U. I haven't done it yet but you should dump and check your Wii U's system log for bootup errors

if works for bricks due to cbhc ..my question is will it work for wii u black screen of death semi brick..it happens when a wii u is shut down during update..then it fails to boot nor gamepad sync nor display on tv console starts with led blue fan works but no display will this method work in that issue as well since that also software related issue..with some is files corrupted or missing somehow if in this case recovery menu is accessed wii u can be unbricked

Moin, also ich kann machen was ich will, bei mir findet er den Pico nicht. Beim einschieben hat er ihn kurz gefunden, nun steht immer Unknown Devise und er wird egal in welchem USB Port nicht angezeigt. Win10 Trotzdem danke für die tolle Anleitung.

@@AyteeDE i found a fix right after i hear the disc spinning twice in the wii u i instantly plug the usb inside and then a few seconds later the wii u boot logo pops up and it goes into recovery but it seems like it's a little different then what you had to do

WiiU got brick’ed upon an update attempt. It was never “modded” (original setup) so my question is if this method could help to unbrick it?

Keep trying. My console did the same but after a few tries it worked

What happens if you pick a region that your console is originally not
I actually never tried that. I will do that later this week. But if you want to connect a Gamepad from a different region, there is a option for that.

Hey, great video man. But I tried installing a CBHC with a fake DS game, and got the memory error 160-0103. It was 2017 and the SD card I used for the Wii U has been wiped years ago. Is it still worth it buying a Pi Pico to try to fix it??
Yes, I am pretty confiident that this should work in this case. But I cant be 100% sure. Edit: Other Users have reported that it will not work on 0103 errors.

For those of us with the no video output / no gamepad sync, is there a specific # of seconds that anyone can share for when the PICO should be connected to USB. Been trying on my old Deluxe Set but never get a purple LED...Thanks.

Ja, du musst nur evtl. Den pico etwas früher anstecken (nur im Fall dass es nicht funktioniert wie im Video gezeigt.)

Die sd Karte muss mit dem recovery Menu eingesteckt sein.
Sobald du das Wii u logo siehst (oder früher) steckst du den pico ein.

I'm going to try your method. I got a Wiiu from a friend as a gift and when I start the console, it shows me the same error code.

I bricked my wii U over a year ago with error 160-0101,. This didn't even take 5 minutes to set up, and it worked perfectly! I can now enjoy my Wii U games again! Thanks so much ! 😄😄

I managed to get into the recovery menu and set the cold boot to US, once I did that I restarted my wii u and it gave me the same error. Any idea why I keep getting this error?
@@Kakeen Same problem as me, I was able to get into the recover menu and set the boot to US but I'd still get the error code when I reset my Wii U. I haven't done it yet but you should dump and check your Wii U's system log for bootup errors

I tried this method to fix my error code 160-0103 unmodded wii u and sadly this didn't work
Pair the gamepad to for it .firsr you set youre region .the 1ste option and when this fnische NOT! Reboot pair the gamepad.with the sync button on they other side.
when you have given the codes like a card play. i'm not pretty sure but i'll think it helps.than reboot after pair te gamepad,
This procedure works for the Japanese console.

Hatte den selben Error Code wie du, leider hat es bei mir nicht funktioniert. Es läuft alles bis zu dem Punkt 5:00. Ich starte die Wii U neu und der selbe Error Code Screen erscheint, als wäre nichts gewesen. Trotzdem vielen Dank für dieses Tutorial.

good evening everyone I'm French sorry if it's badly translated but I share the wii u repair with error 160-0103 it worked for me method with exactly the same process just when I was waiting for the appearance of the wii logo to put the pico failed 10 attempt I was going to give up and try one last and it worked but I connected pico just before logo I listened to the dvd player after the 2 complete operation connected pico just before logo and recovery and appeared and coolboot eur and it's FIXED thanks to Gary and this video so error 0103 its working I did it.

if works for bricks due to cbhc ..my question is will it work for wii u black screen of death semi brick..it happens when a wii u is shut down during update..then it fails to boot nor gamepad sync nor display on tv console starts with led blue fan works but no display will this method work in that issue as well since that also software related issue..with some is files corrupted or missing somehow if in this case recovery menu is accessed wii u can be unbricked

Moin, also ich kann machen was ich will, bei mir findet er den Pico nicht. Beim einschieben hat er ihn kurz gefunden, nun steht immer Unknown Devise und er wird egal in welchem USB Port nicht angezeigt.

hi i just bought the rasperi pi pico and it doesen't work yes i copied the file and it disconnects but when i plug it in at the wii u boot logo it instantly goes black then it shows me the error 160-0103
That is unfortunate :( Sorry for the false hope. Another Commenter confirmed that is likely to not work with an 160-0103 error. I will pin one of these so people know what will work and what not. Thank you very much for your input.
@@AyteeDE oh i was a little fast commenting i got into recovery menu but the problem is that i replaced the home menu button so i need a stock one i can install but i also don't know how to replace files on wupclient?
@@AyteeDE i found a fix right after i hear the disc spinning twice in the wii u i instantly plug the usb inside and then a few seconds later the wii u boot logo pops up and it goes into recovery but it seems like it's a little different then what you had to do
