You might need to regenerate settings.txt

I was freaked out when i got up to 5:59 but i couldn't get to rhe update screen and i kept getting an error. However weirdly enough I removed my disc and it WORKED 😂

Wish I found this vid before system formatting lol. Had some trouble getting it to update because of Tiramisu even when off it was being wonky. I turned off the console from the screen saying "press any button to go to system settings" in decaffeinate and rebooted, went to system settings and worked great! Awesome vid.

Update:nevermine it was the wii disc i had for wii sports i had accidentally installed channel forwarders that were meant for the wii thinking that they would work on vwii but it was just showing a black screen whenever i launched my vwii menu but youre a lifesaver

If you delete the wiiu update folder via ftpiiu, that error disappears
Note that if you have a wii disc inserted into the console after doing the environment loader, it won't boot at all and come up with error code 160-0101.

You said Tiramisu will block updates. At 5:55 after pressing “switch back to Wii U Menu” do I need to redo all the steps with Decaffeinator, or will it automatically open the update tab next time I start the console?
No. Just follow the guide in order and don't miss a step and you should be good.
It didnt auto open the update tab for me because I cant hold x to get to the payload switcher I have to open health and safety. Its a little unclear around 5:29 whether you have to physically shut the console off or just hold x. how do I switch it to launch the payload on boot rather rhan health and safety? @@DataXemnas

When i installed a theme for my vwii i realized my save data had a blank box in it and it was the first box which was weird and everytime i go to save data my vwii crashes after i exit wii options or go to the sd card save data. Could i do something else other than try to reinstall my vwii
You could just try to delete the data using the app SaveMiiMod.

Honestly it's a bit of a complicated process. You're better off just reinstalling the menu.

I need help with an issue I'm encountering while using vWii Decaffeinator.
I installed vWii Decaffeinator and ran the "light" option, but when it tries to download the update, I get the error "Error 105-3102". I’ve tried powering off and restarting the console several times, but nothing changes. I also tried using the "force" option without success.
In the "Download Management" section, I see a "Download Complete" message with instructions to turn the console off and on again, but it doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.
For context, this mod was done a few years ago, and I believe I used Haxchi on the Wii U side to install the Homebrew Launcher. In my console settings, the version number shows as "99.99.99 E." I’m not sure what that means or if it could be related to the update issue.
Can you help me figure out how to resolve this?

First, upgrade to a supported version of CFW. And also try again you may have done a step wrong
Warning: Think twice about the Agressive Mode. It Bricked my Wii U beyond reparable. Got the 160-0101 Error Code. Even fix with UDPIH doesnt work. Just tellin you in hope no one repeats my mistake. Whish u all the best
Never ever have I recommended aggressive mode. And I also mentioned making a nand backup before doing it. Always use light mode unless your vWii is badly bricked.

Hi, my Wii U shows error 160-0101 whenever i put a Wii disc and when i try to boot the vWii menu, it doesn't les me and it goes back to the Nintendo network account Selection screen. Will this tutoría help me? i dont Wanna mess anything up. I put some files to change the vWii region. Since then, this has happened. Also, if this video is useful, do i have to do the vWii homebrew part? I never installed that on my vWii and it seemed you got the menu alright.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean. You want to make a NAND backup before you start just in case you mess up.

Hi! I had bricked my vwii by doing (?? I have no idea) and it caused me to be unable to open any application, although I could access message board and memory. I used decaffeinator on both light and aggressive mode, but nothing has changed. I restored settings.txt as well. Is there a way I can restore it with the nand? I have a backup.
I tried to to fix it with my nand backup as well and it didnt work. I really am confused as to what the problem is.
Have you tried doing it again? I really don't know how hard you would have had to mess up to completely brick it beyond repair.
@Xemns yeah I have no idea what I did - all I did was mess with the boot settings a few times on tiramisu, and consequently, (due to wii remotes not turning off the console for some reason, and sometimes not connecting at all during this time,) having to unplug the wii u to turn it off. Anyways, I'll try running decaffeinator a few more times and see what happens.
got a secondhand wii u with a bricked vwii, it will boot into the health and safety menu but after that my wii u shuts off, i did all the steps in the tutorial (aggressive mode 2x regenerated settings 3x) and it's still the same, and since its secondhand i don't have a nand backup... is there anything i can do?? :p
You might be out of luck. If this doesn't work your only option is to use a NAND backup. I'm sorry.
My Wii U is up to date, and every time I follow this process the Wii Mode icon takes me back to the Wii U menu.

I might consider it. It is relatively easy to do. All you need is Wii Mod Lite and whatever WAD it is for the game you want to install.

Don't remember since I never really cared to back it up. You would probably have to backup your menu files.

Hi Xemnas, thank you for your video and tutorial, but unfortunly i did'nt get the vWii works again, i followed step by step all the tuto but when i start the wii channel (on the wiiu) i got the Wii logo screen and few seconds after the wiiu shut down. Do you have any advise ? i choose the light methode and the aggressive method , i got the wiiu update but nothing happen (the Vwii) didn't work. My Wii U is a PAL version, FW 5.5.5 and tiramisu CFW. thanks

hey, I bricked my vWii by installing a custom theme made for the original wii, I can load my vWii and browse the menu and message board, although the text is screwed up but whenever I click a game banner it crashes, I dont have a modded Wii U menu, nor do I have a nand backup, is there a way I can unbrick it without modding my Wii U menu? I'm asking this because my gamepad is broken
Unfortunately there is no way from what I know. Even if you deleted the corrupted file through FTPII there is no way to reactivate the update trigger. You'll need to somehow get your hands on a gamepad even if it is temporary.

@univon4892 I forgot to edit the comment that I already fixed it, what you have to do is unblock the update folder, to do this, while booting aroma hold +
and then after that hold + and - until it says "Updates not blocked", then update the Wii u and when it finished test vwii and block updates again (doing the same process) and done!

vWiiNandRestorer is how you recover backups. However, you must repeat the process and uninstall Tiramisu. Then try updating again and checking your vWii!

It didn’t work. I have tiramisu, got the decaffeinator, used light mode. Switched installer to Wii U menu, updated, switched back to payloadloader, loaded the Wii menu and nothing worked. It was still a black screen
All I remember when it bricked was I installed a European Wii menu and it didn’t work. I then formatted the console. The next day I set it up and went to play new super Mario bros. Wii. The system menu bricked. This happened in august 2022. I’ve done easily over 10 attempts to fix it. Watching this video 4+ times. And by using GaryOderNichts vwii unbrick guide. Nothing has worked
If you don't have a NAND backup, then I really don't know what else you could do. Installing a different region menu is a bit silly in my opinion. Also, try doing a complete reinstall using aggressive mode.

I'm sorry but I don't think there is any way to unbrick your console. You need a NAND backup and a hardmod running.

I bricked ma vwii by deleting the app file from the wii u in the vwii files cuz i wanted to install a dark theme but it jst gave me an error and the pal version of my vwii ws deleted and its saying the screen u had ast the start of vid. if i can download another app file that would very helpful. Try following this tutorial and the Wii U will redownload the file.
i fixed it anyway i still had the app file on my computer but it wasnt working for some reason but i eventaly fixed it

Hi! I tried your tutorial but after decaffeinator and turning off Tiramisu autoboot nothing happens. Wii U says system is up to date. I have EUR version maybe thats the problem?
Are you sure that you made sure to reactivate updates through the application? If the Wii U system is up to date it should still work. Make sure that Tiramisu is fully turned off like I showed in the guide. Let me know if any of these options work out and thanks for watching!
@@DataXemnas Yes, the application want to update, then after reboot only the system settings popping up. I did everything like in the video. Luckily I have my WiiU NAND backup so there is a chance to restore the vWii partition.

Hmm... I'm not really sure what to say except to make sure you have done every step completely. Wii U's really shouldn't be different since the vWii is the same set of files that are encrypted by your console.

This is Wii U only. You need Priiloader to unbrick a regular Wii!

There is no way to unbrick your Wii U really. Especially if you don't have a NAND backup. It requires a hardmod and is out of my league.

You need to use the proper virtual Wii guide in the patcher or you might brick by installing a broken iOS.

You don't need tiramisu to do this. All you need is access to the homebrew channel.

Take out any discs and make sure that you are updating after wiping the Wii Menu.
I tried this and it wouldn't let me update the console it says I'm up to date

Can you factory reset the Wii U to reset the vWii?
Formatting will reset both from the system settings. However if you use a forwarder such as the news channel forwarder you can go through the vWii settings and format just the vWii.

Does this works with a real Wii
For a real wii you should use priiloader and use a NAND backup you may have created in the past. If not, you may need to reinstall IOS files or System titles individually using a self service program such as NUS Downloader. Priiloader guide: wii.guide/priiloader.html
