Hey, digging the videos! I live in Iowa (very far from any salt water) and plan to visit my aunt's place around Ft. Myers in winter of 2021 (Februrary maybe?) I'm wondering if you could tell me what someone who's got no real salt water fishing experience may need for gear to fish from shore/bridges/jetties? Will my freshwater fishing gear work? I've got some larger spinning gear for big catfish (medium heavy rods, 20-25 lb test line.)
Freshwater gear will work and the larger rod too. The jetties should have some sheepshead during that time of year, possibly pompano and spanish mackerel. Bass gear will handle any of those fish without any issues. The larger rod would only be for fishing for Snook around structure or if you happened to get into some big jack crevalle that you couldn't handle with the smaller rod. It's not uncommon for me to be fishing with a 4000 size set up and get wrecked by a big fish. When that happens if I don't have my 6000 with me I make sure to bring it the next day.
@@DeeplyDrivenOutdoors This past year I caught fish on DOA shrimp, MirrOdines, Berkley Powerbaits, bannana jigs with teasers and topwater lures along with the three that I really love to fish with. A good paddle tail catches all types of fish.
Another great video. Can't wait to heal up and get back out there. Mirrodine is one of those catch all lures once you get the technique down, which you clearly have. The jerk shad is another one that will catch anything that swims when you learn how to work it. I haven't got my sheepie on artificial yet, but I have caught a mullet hooked in the mouth with a jerk shad.
Awesome day on the PDL! You need to get back to the bridges for the big snook again!! Way to go you and Mike D creeping up on 2k subs! Life is short...Live it!
that’s your line JC just sending the vibes back brother! Y’all are both my favorite fishing/living life channels! Keep cranking man!!! I appreciate and learn from both of y’all. Hope I don’t catch an infringement fine for using your line 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣! Love what you’re doing here brother
I keep lovin your channel JC! You're a multitalented musician, kayaker, fisherman and appreciative of what you catch! Keep bringing on those videos. Retiring down to your area soon brother! Ft. Walton beach area maybe
Unfortunately no more work than play I’m moving down in a couple months, I fished off Venice pier for a while before sundown, all we saw caught were some small sharks,
Yes, it sold the first week of advertising it. I really wish I'd had the means and good reason to have two kayaks. It was a though decision to sell, but the right one.
Yes, I have a list of fishing adventures on my goals chart and river Snook fishing is definitely on there...I actually went to a kayak launch today to do some creek fishing, but it turned out to be a muddy mess of a launch. Thanks for asking.
Red Reeling, was wondering if you painted your fish when you were a taxidermist and if it is ever mandatory. Thank you for all of your content throughout the year
J.C. What great video! Thanks for the solid content and fishing advice! Question - Looked like you were doing a continuous short fast rod twitching and slow reeling with the mirrodine suspended bait - versus "twitch, twitch, pause ..." Have you found this steady quick twitching technique especially successful with other baits or mainly twitch baits? Can you speak to this?
Thanks for watching. It seems like my retrieve varies depending upon the depth of the water with each lure that I'm fishing with. The MirOdine in shallow water allows me to twitch a lot more that in a little deeper water. I've I'm fishing with my favorite Yo-zuri lure I generally am retrieving it really fast with continual twitching motions. Here's a video showing that lure being fished: th-cam.com/video/fl1Wz3_BxaU/w-d-xo.html
@@RadReelingFishing I actually brought one, but haven't caught anything yet. Hoping for Sheepshead. lol I changed treble hooks to VMC 1 single hooks on both sides. Have you changed those hooks? By the way, nice job man.
I’ve noticed on a number of occasions you put your steak out Pole through your scupper hole. I suggest you read your owners manual for your kayak a steak pull through the scupper in the event of a problem void your warranty. Only speaking from experience, and it’s a expensive and a real bitch to Repair. Good luck
Your humor is addicting 👍😂🐟🐟🐟
I like this lure as well.

Great tip, thanks.
By far my favourite fishing TH-camr keep up the amazing work dude!
JC!! @6:37. There was fish behind you!!!!!! Turn around!!
A sheepshead on a artificial...wow..crazy..great day of catching brother...
I know, crazy! I didn't even have an scent on the lure either. He must have thought it was a little crab.
You should have tried to catch the mullet with the mirodine. You were catching everything else with it!! lo,l a great day to be out fishing
Ha ha...why didn't I think of that, too funny. Thanks for adding some humor to the channel.

Shoot. This is amazing content.
Good catches like the kayak fishing..
Any tips for using the Mirrodine? I haven't had any luck with it.
I catch the most fish in shallow water when using the MirrOdine
Do you aways use the anchor pole through your scupper hole? Have you had any issues doing that with strong winds or tides?
I quit doing that because subscribers told me I was going to ruin the kayak.
@@RadReelingFishing ha. That's what i was finding in a quick google search as well. Good to know.
only if you could tast my dads jerky he dose elk, goose, and deer and it is to die for

Man you are having just to much fun on that kyack- more power to you. looks like a blast in that shallow water
Thanks for watching. It's a blast just being out on the water in the middle of December with seventy five degree temp., feeling blessed all the time.
That Sheepshead eating artificial was as weird as when I caught a 16" mullet on a paddletail. Not a foul hook either he ate it.
What kind of push anchor do you use? Do you have a link? Thanks!
Here's the anchor pole I use: amzn.to/3jjD4Zp (paid link)
That ray you caught was a butterfly ray and that type of ray is a pretty rare catch
Whats the exact bait you’re using coz theres tons of mirodine hope you got link
I'm not sure. It's small and suspends made for fishing shallow water.
I have the same ugly stick with the same penn on it, spooled with the same yellow power pro. love the videos man keep em coming!

Sheephead on the Mirodine was a wicked catch JC. Awesome day

That lure is money, just gotta put the time in with it. Solid video, JC.
Dude, those Snook destroyed that Mirodine, shocking how hard they hit that thing. I'll be fishing that lure more in these mangrove areas for sure.
I love the Mirodines and have caught a variety of fish with them but a Sheep.. if I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it
