  • Want to catch sheepshead on artificial lures?
    I’ve been testing out these Chasebaits Crusty Crabs recently, and I now have enough experience with them to where I can share this accurate review (let's just say these fake crabs catch a lot of sheepshead).
    Joe and I have been catching a ton of big sheepshead with them, so there are a lot of pros, but they’re not perfect, so I’ll share what I don’t like about them with you as well.
    In particular, there's this one way I was using them that caused them to be ruined very quickly, but once I stopped doing that, they started lasting much longer.
    And, as a bonus, I’ll also tell you where and how we’ve been catching sheepshead on them.
    This is key, because if you're not fishing in the right type of spots, or retrieving them the right way, you probably won't catch anything with them.
    If you want to catch more sheepshead, check out this review.

    For the con on the first one of the tear from skipping under docs. This is a tip that I have learned from other bass fisherman like Roland Martin. They all bring superglue with them on their boats. I would think a dab of superglue would fix that problem when the tear separation happens. It would be worth a shot.

    Haven’t seen crusty crabs but will definitely look for them I did pick up a 5 pack of just 1 inch blue crabs bodies by Savage gear and you can use a jig , single hook, Carolina style , but I think a single hook like your doing is best it looks natural I’m going to try them soon I’m anxious to see how they work , I paid $4.99 for a pack of five crabs and they look just like real they are sented , tight lines guys !

    For the issue with the weak point where everything attaches. Could you apply a little bit of thin UV resin and seal it on there to strengthen that spot, basically adding another layer or two or material to buffer against the skipping issue.
    I am gonna buy some of these for an upcoming trip to try out and I think that might resolve or at least hold off the issue a little longer.

    100% agree with all of this. I've been using them for a little over a year now and the Sheepies love them. Plus, these are the most durable plastics I've ever used. At least as tough as Zman stuff. I've got one with at least 20 sheeps caught on it and it still looks great. The biggest problem I've has is that it's really easy to snag them.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Yes, the snag problem is another con... but they at least don't have treble hooks like some of the other crab lures.

      Have you tested the Cranka crabs against these crab lures from Chasebaits?
      The Cranka crabs look nice, but I just can't see the reason to pay so much more for the Cranka crab when it has a much higher chance of getting snagged on the structure due to having two sets of treble hooks mounted on the edges (seems like a huge snag risk).
