    A simpler example which proves that citizens will always fade away, while also accounting for Matthew's idiocy: Masha's ascension quest revolves entirely around a couple who want to leave behind something when they die, during battle or not. Should be prove enough!

    This reminds me that we never actually see Shania disappear when it happens the first time. She did transition into the flame clock cycle while still being born with a body from the city so maybe there are special rules for that. Or maybe it just happened off screen with a very big delay because she somehow had to be recreated by Origin later when becoming Moebius.

    • @wesnohathas1993
      @wesnohathas1993 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      There's no hard confirmation that she was ever recreated to begin with, which leads me to suspect that allowing her to enter the cycle was a hoax and Moebius had intended to make her a consul from the start.

    • @MaxWelton
      @MaxWelton 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@wesnohathas1993 That would explain why she got just one extra life against her explicit wishes. the reproduction between universes thing can probably be explained by the fact that all races on both universes are technically human
    all races were created by klaus (or galea) who created life probably using former humans as a template and we know in altrest all races besides nopon were considered human
    i know on the xenoblade 1 side zanza and meyneth didnt have memories as there time as humans but with ontos there the template could easily be pulled from there connection to the conduit on 2s side

    • @Ryodraco
      @Ryodraco 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Also, if I recall right, the humanoids Zanza and Myneth created were made in their own image, i.e. based on themselves, and thus were in that sense human.

    • @natchu96
      @natchu96 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      Alrest life did essentially evolve from titans, to be fair...though I suppose since adaptation was being directly accelerated by digital injection of genetic codes into core crystals, it's likely that the old human template was used to induce the emergence of sapient humanoids.

    I never put two and two together that being assimilated into Origin means they died and were recorded. I mean, I did, but it being explained in the way you did it made me fully realize it.
    Which then makes me think up a theory about Aionios' history. I bet the Keves/Agnus war didn't start immediately when Aionios was created. Everybody from both worlds were possibly still alive when time stopped and were not assimilated into Origin, and waged war against the Moebius to take back control of Origin. People kept getting killed in this war and assimilated into Origin, and some were used to recruit into the Moebius' ranks in order to turn the tide more and more into their favor, until eventually Melia was captured. This dealt a major blow to the "Original Ones" as she was a major key to Origin's capabilities. Many retreated, hoping to just live a life of peace, Nia eventually hid herself away, and Moebius used Melia in order to create the nations of Keves and Agnus and use the vast numbers of people they collected from the war to repurpose them into a vicious never-ending cycle of war in order to feed and sustain the Moebius. A group of the Original Ones who still had the will to fight Moebius (simply because of how skilled and powerful they were) named themselves the Liberators and vowed to free as many people from the cycle as possible.

    • @Ryodraco
      @Ryodraco 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      The issue there is that we know from Linka and Panacea recounting things, that most people were assimilated into Origin right away when the worlds merged. The few people who weren't and why is considered a mystery that Rex chalks up to it being so they could meet and help Matthew.

    • @gmaster2647
      @gmaster2647 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    12:39 I have my doubts about Triton being a Citizen. He says when he became Moebius, he realized that one human life would always feel too short. I feel like City lifespans are of the length that people have a reasonable shot at being satisfied with the time they were given on earth, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Triton believes that.
    There’s also the fact that he became Moebius to keep beating up huge monsters. Were he a Lost Number, he’d have more important things to do than fight monsters for fun and risk the City’s exposure.

  • @GomerJ
    @GomerJ 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    Yeah husks are definitely by Moebius design and just another form of psychological warfare/torture. As you said, motivating revenge & also just another way of tearing these soldiers down mentally. Seeing a field of husks after a huge battle is not only going to spark thoughts of revenge, it's going to increase solidarity amongst soldiers by making them want to fight for one another (which sadly in reality means doing Moebius's dirty work).
    And while someone discovering their own husk is probably not something they planned for, it sure does a number on poor Eunie.

    22:00 sorry, but no. Crys and M didn’t invent off-seeing: they invented HoCos. In that scene, Crys just casually already has a flute on him. This means the position of off-seer always existed in the Moebius status quo. It’d be incredibly strange for a regular commander to have a beautifully designed Keves-themed musical instrument for no reason.

    • @jardejay8804
      @jardejay8804 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      No... Crys came up with the offseeing and the ritual. It was his idea to use a flute since it's portable, easy to learn and can be transported to and from battle easy.
      It's hard to explain and the story doesn't portray it prefecly. 1000 years ago, a previous incarnation of Crys conceived the role of the Off-Seer and the Homecoming Ceremony with the aid of M.

    When you started talking about how Origin might 'prioritise' the souls of City children to be born in the new world, it made me think that that might also be a reason as to why Noah and Mio were reincarnated. Maybe Moebius's control was essentially "being able to command Origin to place a bunch of souls into bodies", and Noah and Mio somehow had an affinity with Origin that allowed their souls to be accessed again even after they should have been removed.
    Also being reincarnated in a completely different body sounds interesting. Kinda reminds me of the Chimera Ant arc in HunterXHunter

  • @MaxWelton

    21:06 there are husks at the foot of the Great Sword that Monica points out during the City tour that may have been there since FR at LEAST. The Great Sword Affinity Scene has A reference a recent battle there, and while it would be weird for there to be no conflict for 1000 years in the spot where the 2 Castles glare at each other (or maybe that spot just isn’t strategic since Keves and Agnus don’t do naval combat), I could definitely see husks lasting that long. (Then again, Agnus probably sends troops past the Great Sword to attack Keves Castle without fear of retaliation.)

    I wanted to bring up that both in XC1 and XC2, everyone/thing is made up of Ether. When they die, they are returned to Ether. The light motes off of husks reminds me of the monsters turning to ether. In XC2, Vandham has time to gather a core crystal before the creature disintegrates, as well creatures eat other creatures for sustenance. It's been a while since I played the games, but I think they never mention ether, even though ether and lite motes are visually same/similar. Food for thought

  • @snurt256

    I think the actual reason that people from Keves and Agnus can have children is because of how sentient life came to be in each of those universes - in Alrest, it developed from the remnants of human DNA in the Core Crystals, and in the other world, it was created by Zanza, who knew enough about humans to create exact duplicates of them in the Homs (plus, being Klaus, he was at least familiar with the concepts that led to the Architect creating the Core Crystals themselves). Basically, because of the way that Core Crystals work, a Kevesi human having children with an Agnian is no less likely than a human in Alrest having children with a Blade - which, thanks to Glimmer and Mio, we already know has been done.

    22:43 hmmm…when Crys asks to send off the guy, B protests that that would lose his life from circulation. It may be that someone *has* to become a husk for their soul to be returned to the parts of Origin Z has access to. If someone dies solely by running out of life juice, their soul is probably archived in a part of Origin where Moebius can’t retrieve it, hence the urgency of executing them at their HoCo. It’s implied that M gave flute HoCos Z’s stamp of approval because she knew it would bleed Moebius dry, slowly whittling down the maximum number of combatants in the war and reducing the amount of energy the war produces for the purpose of maintaining the Endless Now. This does beg the question of why Z didn’t restore HoCos to their maximum efficiency since he has unlimited surveillance all the time or punish M for sabotaging him.

    Crossbreeding between universes seems possible because in 2, the different human races evolved from core cystals containing memories and ,most likely, DNA of the previous world's inhabitants. While in 1 the Machina, High Entia, and Homs were made by Zanza and Meynath based on themselves who were inhabitants of the previous world.

    I think not relying on racism to foster hatred between the two sides makes sense simply because there are racial differences within each side, not just between them. Intrinsically, there's no greater reason for a racist Homs to hate a Gormotti than for them to hate a Machina, or for a racist regular Blade to hate a High Entia over Flesh/Blade Eaters (and, in fact, such sentiments featured pretty prominently in their respective games). If Moebius sought to capitalize on racism, they'd effectively create 5+ sides to the war instead of two, and that's *significantly* harder to manage in terms of "us vs. them" than if there's only one "us" and only one "them."

  • @CJluvsMJ27
    @CJluvsMJ27 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    What I think is that when they disappear into gold motes, they are sent into the ark portion of Origin where Alpha was, away from Moebius control. Their core crystal is then cut off & cannot be accessed until Origin is ready to restart. Also, I also learned that golden motes doesn’t truly mean “death” in a way. It just means “cannot be respawned in Aionios”, as Shulk & Rex were pretty much in perfect health but still got turned into golden motes & didn’t disappear into them either. Even when within the white light, the golden motes are gone. Their lives IN AIONIOS is over, but they’re not truly dead. I don’t think they truly die & become fully assimilated until Origin restarts.

      That's... actually an intriguing point. Core crystals are the storage medium for Origin's whole database. And Aionios was a reconstruction of both worlds based on those collective memories. In essence, the entire creation of Aionios is like a Blade awakening on a grand scale.
      Might even factor into why most people were immediately assimilated into Origin when it activated, as a special "aptitude" is needed for any would-be driver to survive the awakening process.

    Pretty good reasoning, but I have another theory. One that has nothing to do with any psychological reasons, but due to simple physical practicality.
    Aionios soldiers turn into husks when they die. Those husks eventually end up getting buried by erosion and deposition and they turn into new land to replace what is destroyed by the Annihilation Events. So not only is Moebius sustained by the life force of the soldiers, they also rebuild a little of what is destroyed as well.
    (that being said, they can't do much more than delay the inevitable because the Annihilation events destroy the land faster than the husks of the fallen can replace it, which is why the world is still dying)

Honestly, I think what's more likely is that the Lost Numbers base and the City both cropped up around what were Bionis Homs hubs, and so they were disproportionately rescued and overrepresented in the gene pool. That and, from a meta perspective, it helps with the "vibe" of Citizens as minimalist cyber-futurist types.

    Regarding some of the biological and baby making stuff mentioned in the video:
    - Regarding the seeming ridiculousness of having children with an alternate universe person- all of the sentient populations in both universes owe themselves to Klaus who at least was a being of this universe’s flesh and blood. Everything on the Bionis began with his lifeforce and he appears to intentionally led some of it on the path to being more like humanity as he understood it. High Entia can probably breed with humans because, even if they’re basically a magical universe thing’s white blood cells, the basis for that being was still a real deal human being. The Architect, in turn, had human DNA on hand, since undoing brain cancer was the original purpose of core crystals. Perhaps one could argue millennia of divergent evolution should make the DNA incompatible, but that’s not really an issue when, up until recently, God definitely *does* exist and is manipulating evolution.
    - Regarding the souls of the City and their return from Origin- I don’t think it’s going to take nearly as long or require nearly as many concessions as is being suggested. Origin already has the DNA and generic makeup of every ancestor of every City resident and at least the data for how to create the cradles. Scientists from the two worlds could probably just walk in, clone the bodies of the City residents, and place their souls inside, like, promptly.
    It might leas to some weirdness of parents and children being the same age, there might need to be some discussion on the smartest way to go about it, but it seems like the process need not be held strictly to a human flow of time.

      Huh...but reaching HoCo is exceedingly rare, requiring insane battle prowess AND luck. Plus it'd be weird for natural-born Citizens to just be Kevesi and Agnians, especially considering the possibility of giving birth to your own parent in a new body. Also, since the City grows up learning the truth of the cycle, we probably would have heard about Citizens regaining past-life memories. Interesting idea tho

    Then we have the question of where the soldier's body mass came from, if Husks keep being left behind then wouldn't more and more of the world's mass slowly be becoming Husks. Unless the body mass of the soldier's is coming from some nebules source and the Husks are a desperate attempt to delay the end of the world by trying to add enough mass back to the world to offset the annihilation events.

And also I would also point out we never seen Nimue getting killed and turn into husk, why is that? Maybe they have Nimue getting killed off screen rather than actually seeing her getting killed by colony 13 soldiers it is cuz they have to hide the fact she actually wasn't bound into flame clock and won't turn into husks?

    17:00 this can’t be true because when Lanz first calls Noah out for seeing off Colony Sigma, Noah simply explains that there’s no rule against seeing off your enemies. If off-seeing were this important to the maintenance of Origin’s equilibrium, Moebius would make a rule saying you HAVE to see off your enemies.

  • @baked7423

    husks being a proof of existence and symbol is very clever yet disturbing by moebius. it's almost ironic and cathartic that in a world where ur individual identity and cultures are not carried on, you have reminders of said people that further push future generations. The cycle of fighting was created to prevent progress but in a sense it's only maintained by the false security of flow. Heck for some reason they allow recording history like with dirk which beside just creating that fake sense of flow, seems a bit odd for moebius to allow if they are trying to keep everyone in the status quo (or maybe someone didnt care enough to check which would be in character).

    Could you make a video on the Irises at some point? Like, what exactly they do, how were they made, does every single person have them aside from Nopon (meaning, including the queens and Shulk and Rex). How do Blades work with them? Like with altering blades. How was the paint on Noah's sword able to stay, how was Riku able to change Noah's Blade to have the Pneuma core and Lucky Seven. How does the Blade upgrading work. Why do all these things work, but yet Lanz's Blade gets cut in half and it is fine later. Do Irises work like a way to put things in a pocket dimension? If you can choose to store more stuff added to your Blade, then can you just summon and desummon anything you want? What determines your Blade? Why is Shulk's Blade the Monado Rex (especially considering Melia has a Monado Rex), and Rex's are like replica Aegis swords. Are a Blade's (as in Agnians) Blade weapons the same as the weapon from their core or could Mio theoretically use the Iris to get twin rings, but use her core to get like a Catalyst Scimitar or something? Can soldieries change their blades? Dialogue suggests that a soldier can change their blade since Taion had to be taught about the Mondo, and people ridicule Sena for using a hammer as if she chose it. Meanwhile it is also implied that the City folk can change their Blades somehow (like how Shania can maybe use her sisters gun, but is that actually her gun, or the same type of gun), and why does it seem like Ouroboros being able to switch Blades is exclusive to them? The whole thing with Irises and Blades seems really muddy, and don't fully make sense.

    I think the fact that mobius dont use racism as a motivator is that it probably would lead to more counterproductive infighting. Maybe they did use it at some point, but noticed that it wasnt working, so xenophobia was the better option.

    I think since the world is frozen, time is actually frozen for nopons. They don't experience age, all of them don't. I think this is also why we dony see any nopon children in Aionios. The nopon are not "of this world", they're of the outside world that is frozen to Aionios. So they don't age, and any possible nopon embryo won't age either.

    Here is my take
    The reason the motes are in everything has to do with a theory that states, the more you use an object, the more life you inject in it", thats why objects and mud puppets had motes of life in my opinion
    Of course, that is the bare minimun of what I think is happening
    Husk I feel are still to play a greater role in the combined world, lets say the next game takes place in the new world, and in it, aside from the previous worlds landmasses, there are new mixed landmasses that were extreamly hard to get to, so it begins with the exploration of this place, both universes still dont know that the worlds got fused and are exploring to understand what went "wrong", and one of the primary enemies you find are husks

    Personally I think the reason Moebius dont weaponize racism or physical differences between agnus and keves, is because 1. their indoctrination made them already unaware of racial diffrences, like them not realising eunie and laz are different species. But 2. It would be pretty difficult to use physical differences as the basis since out of the main party the two most physically similar party members are Taion and Noah (outside the agnian strenght point)

    The True Origin And Character Background Of “Rex” And “Jin” From A Well-Sold Nintendo Game Called Xenoblade Chronicles 2:
    This is the real honest truth about myself and I understand if you people don’t believe me, but it is really messed up and it is the truth of my sad, pathetic, lowly, etc. life. I am somebody who was deeply and personally screwed over by god, Jesus and religion because of my genetics / soul which God and Jesus don’t like and have a problem with it. There is a video game called “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” made by a company called Nintendo and Monolith Soft and I was able to figure out that the character of “Rex” and “Jin” were based off of me. Jin is supposed to be the version of adult me who is the strongest human of all time, the kindest human of all time, a good writer, but is also the biggest coward of all time. Rex is supposed to be a diver, the most helpful person of all time and the most forgiving person of all time. The character of “Rex” has talents, qualities, characteristics, etc. that Jesus has. I noticed how these two characters in the game reminded me of myself and how there were things in the game that reminded me of things that happened in my life and by putting the pieces together I was able to find out that these two characters called “Rex” and “Jin” were really based off of me and was able to find out more about myself and my screwed up life. The thing is that because God and Jesus have a problem with adult me being the biggest coward of all time he will most likely send me to hell forever and will also send child me to another hell of some sort because I have the same talents, traits, characteristics, etc. to Jesus which god must view as mocking Jesus or something even though it isn’t mocking Jesus. The thing is that who I was born as was all 100% random, uncontrollable, unchangeable, etc. and I could do ABSOLUTELY nothing to prevent it, so God and Jesus torturing me forever for that is truly 100% evil, immoral, terrible, etc. on their end. The character of “Jin” is also ugly, depressed, autistic, etc. just like I am in real life. I was also able to figure out that god supposedly has possessed my body at various points throughout my life without me being able to remember what happened. This theme of me being possessed and not having any memory of what happened is a main theme of the “blades” and the character “Jin” in Xenoblade chronicles 2. I was able to figure out through Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and putting the pieces together of things that happened in my life and strange coincidences that I have been possessed and mind controlled by god and his magic at various random times throughout my life and when I got jumped at my Amazon job was one of those times because I was attacked while being possessed / mind controlled and unable to fight back against the people attacking me. I am very mad, angry, hateful, etc. at God, Jesus and religion for this and everything else they have done and will continue to do.
