Roy Orbison, one of the greatest but also underestimated singers of all times. Very mysterious man, who stood on stage like a statue hidden behind those huge glasses. But his songs and voice are immortal. The man died much too soon at 52.
When we saw him in the '80s in San Francisco, he came out to thunderous applause like you would not believe. Audience knew words to all the songs. He stood there strumming and singing and said Thank You. That was all that was needed for a huge memory!!!
I am from Belgium, born in 1954. Onely the lonely, first hit here, is from 1960. Strange how this man sang so beautiful, without hardly moving his lips. Have a nice day
Hi Nestor.. I totally agree with what said about Roy Orbison.. Brilliant, talented, mysterious, unbelievable song writer, beautiful unique vocal singer. Taken from this world to early.. *R.I.P Roy Orbison*
It seems no matter which song you listen to, it goes straight to the heart...his voice is so haunting, so melodic, and memories of love floods your heart and soul... love you Roy wherever you are singing now.... Sure wish I could have seen him in person....just once
one day, i will walk along a californian white sandy beach with Roy singing this into my ears through the headphones, until then, I have you tube and all your albums Roy. R.I.P you are sadly missed and that voice.....wow!!!
I think Roy speaks to all of us with his voice and brilliant songs. So thankful he did what he wanted to do. Peace and love from Amsterdam, The Netherlands!
I grew up listening to Roy and his generation of musicians and only now do I understand how unbelievably good they were and sadly, I'm sure not one of them could get a recording contract today. Everyone wonders where the good music is? It's there, it just can't get by the bean counters in charge of deciding what's good and what isn't. Even when they do find something good, they have to muddle it with their changes made so "it will sell" like WE are incapable of deciding what's good!!!
This is the first time I've listened to this number and I'm blown away, again! He had a magnificent voice and range. I just love his music. Makes me want to hear more. Another great loss for us all.
This truly moving and beautiful song shows exactly how tragic a loss to the music world Roy Orbison's untimely passing was. Roy had a singing voice like velvet. Nobody else can match that, it's unique.
I love this song, it can make me cry in a second, why? It was played on my grandmas funeral this year in March. Dad said that it was her favorite song. And now, I want to have it on my funeral. This, and The Drifters' "Save the last dance for me".
Always was a Roy Orbison fan. First heard "Only the Lonely" while sitting in the barracks in the Marine Corps infantry training in North Carolina back in 63'. Truly one of the greatest balladeers of all time,
Hai ragione Rosangela. :)
I am now a semi retired musician and not in this great persons caliber but I play saxophone and Clarinet with a bit of vocal but I play for pensioners dinners and every time I do one I get the request for "California Blue". I play it on Tenor Sax and they just love it and these are people from 55 to 90 who are listening to it. They also request "Crying" which I do on clarinet and it goes over well but the really wonderful thing is they all remember this wonderful musician with the golden voice.
Heard a super guy at a funeral in Clonsilla, Ireland, sing this song and I adore it since even though they did not listen to the final, final bars. Roy's greatest in my humble opinion. Mick D.
What a voice this man had. He suffered more tragedy than most could cope with but never complained. I believe best thing about his comeback with The Travelling Wilburys was that he finally realised how much he was loved, at first he thought they were taking the piss, then thankfully he realised we loved him so much. RIP Roy.
Beautiful as ever. What a voice. I was in the Duty Free Store in Toronto and Roy came in to look around. I was such a great fan of his but l didn't want to bother him so l just stood there beside him and left him alone. I wish l would have at least said hi, l love your music.
Я обожаю эту песню. Открыла для себя недели две назад. День начинаю с ее прослушивания и заканчиваю день, слушая ее. Рою Орбисону-поклон и обожание. Жаль, что рано ушел.💐 💐

I've loved Roy's Music from the age seven, his way with a song can be done by him. This song makes me miss my home for over 30 yrs.
I love this song, it can make me cry in a second, why? It was played on my grandmas funeral this year in March. Dad said that it was her favorite song. And now, I want to have it on my funeral. This, and The Drifters' "Save the last dance for me".
