+87mreynolds Elvis never said that, he said that Roy Orbison is the best male singer but that's because Elvis was very humble, he said of several singers they are the best; like also of Pat Boone and one time he said that Fats Domino is the king of rock 'n roll; Elvis Presley is the most versatile singer ever= rock, ballads, country, blues, soul, gospel... which can not be said of Roy Orbison. Elvis is also the only singer taken up in all the halls of fame and in every music style he had his hits also something what can not be said of Roy Orbison. Btw Elvis could sing like Roy, for ex with It's now or never, Surrender; and at the endi of his life Elvis sang even like an opera singer with for ex Hurt and Unchained melody and this at June 26 1977 .
@@patrickdevries6267 I believe what elvis said was when asked by a reporter about having the best voice. He said “I don’t know about that you have to speak to Roy “. Roy was beyond him. Contrasting styles. Elvis was a entertainer and Roy was a singer

I absolutely love Roy Orbison I’m 38 and my late father who was born in 1943 loved him. Humperdinck and Tom jones and all those crooners it paved my musical taste from a young child. I’m so proud to know music like this and there really isn’t nothing like Roy Orbison is there ?? He’s magical❤
This is the most beautiful song ever heard and the voice of Roy Orbison makes it even better. If you have heard it once it remains in your senses forever.
😲 I'm 51 now, been listening to him my whole life growing up here in Virginia. His music has been a big part of my families life since he started singing! I plan to pass it on to anyone I know... if you look, his music has touched generations of people on here,... just look at the age range of people that love his music!!! No matter how old or young you are, you gotta love his music. 👌👍🙏
That is so amazing it is as beautiful as it was the very first time I heard it. How can that be!! This is just so incredible. Roy Orbison will always be with us, rest in peace
@L yes, I love his style, and his chord progressions and voice... you can have a bad day and get in your car, listen to him for 5 to 10 minutes, and everything is ok again!!! Like everything is fine, and going to be ok, and nothing even happened!!! 👍🙏🙏🙏👌🎸 🥁 🪘 🛢 ✌️
Many of us are listening to this wonderful, amazing, amazing man who brought to us so many beautiful, beautiful tunes. He was so talented and had the most beautiful, beautiful voice and my mother when I was young listen to him every day he was an amazing, amazing singer.
I'm 81 and still can't get enough of listening to his superb voice and music after 60 years of listening to him. Roy is to music what John Wayne is to Westerns, iconic!
I remember a docu where Jeff Lynne recalled the first time he called Roy. Roy's wife answered, and Jeff was so overcome with emotion, he had to hang up without explaining who he was. He called back 15 minutes later and talked to his hero. Anyone who reveres Roy Orbison is all right in my book. The man was an angel.
No one wrote songs like he did. Not the simple verse/chorus/verse/chorus you almost always hear in pop music. My God, how his songs grow, take off, and go places!

Goosebumps. I'm 35 and my association of this song is entirely with Blue Velvet and the effect it had on me when I saw it for the first time at seventeen. Perfect movie and quite possibly a perfect song. Thank you, Roy.
"Do you know what a love letter is? It's a bullet from my f**king gun f**ker. If you receive a love letter from me, you're f**ked forever. I'll send you straight to hell f**ker". That was cinema history made. Dennis Hopper under the influence of popper he had specifically asked David Lynch for, to make his inner subconscious stand out: "I am Frank Booth". Genius.
Yes that beganing ❤ that movie. That lady who sang blue velvet I'm still uncertain if I understood the whole movie but it creeped me out! Whoooo(Sucking on inhaler) "Mommie mommie"
This is my go to page whenever I think of my brother Peter .He had a fantastic voice and could sing this song just like Roy when I listen it’s just like he’s still here .
Of all of Roy's great songs, this one is his very best. It brings him from a low end to a note that will raise the hair on the back of your neck. I saw Roy 4 months before his death in 1988 in Austin, Texas. It was a hot August night and he just killed all 5,000 fans. It was an unreal moment when he hit this note live. I just died.
I miss Austin,my sister was a nurse at Seton. My friend Minako Sings just sang this song today, you might like her take, she does rain drops, and moon river, and a lot of covers. All the best.

Roy's words and music touch us at our deepest emotions. He awakes the strongest longings for love and acceptance that we all feel! He speaks to the feelings we all hold in common, but rarely, if ever dare to express to anyone.
At 84, I still l play this amazing Star of POP, He is more than a Pop singer however. His tone and voice are perfect for the numbers he produced, I've listened to him since his first play, and still listen regularly, no one can beat this genius.
Don't we all wish we could go back and change something in the past? I am often told let go of those mistakes, for those who are able to let go have better lives. Like you said it still is painful, but always try to remember there were and are good years.

It’s the truth. God blessed him with the greatest vocal talent.

RIP Mr. Orbison
Awesome voice,lyrics!!!!
That anguished howl has haunted me in dreams since I heard Roy sing it on Chicago's WLS radio station in the early '60's. And will to the day I die. Immortal.
He was a magical performer!! Voice like honey with such emotion 😊
We use to listen to that station in the middle of the night driving across Wyoming.
One of the classics of all time. An absolute masterpiece. Evokes emotions that only a handful of performers other than Roy can do. Thank you Roy for improving the life of millions of people with your music including today August 12, 2021. Roy your music will live forever.
@@rosebrown9265 Unquestionably, so sad that he is not with us for so long now. But his music lives!

One of the best. I dedicate this beautiful song to my Daddy I lost almost 6 years ago to Alzheimer’s. One of his favorites. I hope I see you tonight in my Dreams on this Fathers Day weekend. Oh how I miss you❤
My mom's too
My daddys favourite song too 😢
In the words of Elvis Presley.Ain’t nobody sing like Roy Orbison.
I think this version is better.
@@patrickdevries6267 Love Orbison but Elvis was named the KING for a reason, knuff said.
Ain't that the truth, Amen!
Tellement magnifique, sa voix de cristal nous prend au coeur et ses paroles sont tellement vraies , un bonheur immense de l écouter , on a tous ressenti ce qu il chante, ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You should hear Chris Isaak, his voice is like Elvis and Roy combined
The man with a beautiful voice well last a life time for me😂😅😊 thaks R. Love u forever 🎉
Forget Presley, this man is up there with Otis and Freddie, if not surpassing them, such a glorious voice, God Bless you Roy!! x
Great singer and song but Elvis is in a league of his own!
Elvis called him the " greatest singer in the world" hell of a compliment RIP Roy
Incomparable, no doubt. But for smooth crooning, my top 3 are Perry Como, Andy Williams n Engelbert Humperdinck.

Elidoransgar I agree with you. What a singer my gosh. And what a songwriter, a musician, and a true gentleman. Thanks from Italy
I love that story! I think it's so cool that huge stars like Jeff Lynne get starstruck too!
What a beautiful story,Roy was the guy I grew up listening to thanks to my father's wonderful taste in music.
Beautiful story. Thank you for share.
He had his share of heartache
No one wrote songs like he did. Not the simple verse/chorus/verse/chorus you almost always hear in pop music. My God, how his songs grow, take off, and go places!
One in a million voice. His songs will never grow old.

Have been a fan my entire life. There will never be another person whose music resonates with my soul.

Not one of the greatest the ever .

The velvet tones of the big O the voice well takes me back and he certainly could hit the notes ❤️👍

Roy's song, here, In Dreams, kinda says it all. I say this song be the greatest love song ever written and sung, being sung by one of the greatest singers whoever lived, Roy Orbison.
What a sad song, I’m 71 and still cry each time I listen to the words. I believe that he wrote it after losing his wife and child in a house fire.
He lost his wife in a motorcycle accident when a truck pulled in front of her, and then two years later. he lost his two oldest sons in a house fire.
Sir just if you dont mine ill correct you wife died in motorcycle crash 1966, the 2 sons house fire in 1968 just a bit of friendly information for you. R.i.p to the 3 people involved.

One of the best singers ever. Even Elvis said he is amazed at how Roy Orbison could hit the high notes.
If Roy Orbison had Elvis' face he could have took over the world, if he wanted to.
It's hard to say who is the best, because both were very different
This is definitely one of my favourite Roy Orbison songs. His voice/songs comforted me in 2018 when I was in hospital for 33 days. “his voice puts an instant smile on my face and hope in my heart” DC

Goosebumps. I'm 35 and my association of this song is entirely with Blue Velvet and the effect it had on me when I saw it for the first time at seventeen. Perfect movie and quite possibly a perfect song. Thank you, Roy.
Cheers to your fuck!
