@@ctm92 Yeah, no. Public transport in Germany is not delayed as much as long-distance trains (~60% punctuality; delay < 6 min). Regional train services and commuter rail aswell as busses are pretty solid and have a higher punctuality (~90%).

The use of open street maps is amazing. I’d love to see this same concept applied in a grander way in the future so we can design light rail, tram, or subway systems in any city.

I just want to get my crayons out and draw lines on the map and then run vehicles along them.
@@CityPlannerPlays tbh, a lot of city planning principles translates very directly into architectural layout and interior decoration - managing the flow of "traffic" (i.e. walking around your house) to your "destinations" (i.e. points of interest like desks, appliances, etc.). Even things like building barriers to hide more unsightly things and to reduce noise in specific areas like bedrooms - as well as things like beautifying areas to make people want to spend more time there. Very surprising amounts of the skill sets overlap.
Honestly wasn't expecting this level of detail and customization from a game that has a "play anywhere in the world" feature. This looks pretty cool and I might want to pick it up.

I love this game because its customization aspect, Its also a very interesting take on how transportation planning in the real world too. Next game on the wishlist we go!
Fun fact: the busway you mentioned got added to open street maps on the 25th and there's been a flurry of updates to it since then to tag it correctly and thoroughly. The joy of OSM!!!! So if you were to update the in-game map or start a new Madison map it should have a working busway now.
Unfortunately I looked it up and I think the game devs have to manually pull updates from OSM and run them through a process. I hope they make that moddable or even user-facing!
I hope at some point in the future you give Nimby Rails a try! It’s very similar to this, except with trains, metros, and trams! I have sunk so many hours into the game designing dream transit systems for my state!
Personally I refunded that game, way too much of a chore to build anything in it. Transport fever 2 is still the goat. (Though nimby has the advantage of a real map)

I've been playing this game since beta, and it's truly been progressing so much, the devs are really dedicated to making this game great, and so is its community of players and modders, which is so awesome to see. Hopefully you playing this game will help us attract more American players and esp. modders, I for one could use some good US buses in the workshop. 😅
The reason public transport works in south africa is because bus drivers here don't follow the laws, so it will be interesting to see what this game makes of our transit system (if it's even possible to download maps from here)

Im a seasoned player of this game and usually only enjoy UK series with super realism. But I really enjoy the way you do these. One can only assume its because this is your profession in the real world so you know what youre talking about

About the custom aspect of this game ist huge. You can build really complicated lines. And with all the mod buses, its huge. Hopfully some of your viewers, who wants to play this game, can build in blender and make some american buses :D thank you for playing this gem

The timetables are very powerful. By combining timetables you can make branches, short-turn trips, peak hour extension and express trips or deviations. You do this by turn on or off bus stops for each timetable. If a bus stop I'd turn off for a timetable the bus will ignore that stop. It's a lot of fun.
I remember my dad talking about lending computing power to number crunching in the 90's and early 00's, and seeing a game like this so connected to real life makesme think of new ways to crowdsource data. Imagine a government sponsored game like this that gathers design data to help influence efficient designs for public transit IRL!
I am a newer driver for metro transit in the twin cities MN, and the planning and cost of all this stuff is mind blowing, and I only know a very small part of the big picture. This is def something I’m gonna check out!

One of my earliest memories was playing with matchbox cars and buses on chalkboard cities and I used to love making bus routes. This has me so excited! Imagine if they implemented a mode like Bus Simulator too where you could first person drive the routes.

crazy thing is i played this using my local map and made my city much better which also costs less and brought it up to a city meeting where i met some folks who will now be implementing some of my changes for routes in the near future. maybe if more ppl play simulations games we all can make a change for our areas. This was way better than city skylines and other city sims bc uses real data sort of.
This is the first City Bus Manager video that didn't feel like the game would be overwhelming for me. Putting some bushes and tres around the depot is interesting, where I live it's just a lot of concrete in an industrial estate with a garage

One thing I'd immediately want to see is some way to upgrade roads to have bus lanes, maybe in several steps from simple repurposed lanes to full on BRT corridors. Should be more of a mid to late game option, but would really increase the realism of the game.

Though I’ve been a Milwaukee resident for five years, I can only think of one city with habitual transit problems that would be perfect in this game: Philadelphia. Constant budget issues, aging fleet, and some cases, a BEDBUG INFESTATION. SEPTA would definitely benefit from using simulators to review and revise their routes and budget appropriately.

Semi related but another transport game that has timetables is "A-Train: All aboard! Tourism" which I think would make for an interesting episode. It's a Japanese train game that's secretly about transit oriented real estate development.
Buses are nice but they feel 10 billion percent better to be in if they arrive at a consistent time and don’t get stuck in traffic, that’s why I love the Metro G line

two things i'd love two see added 1) an ability to expand into taxis to improve service when you don't necessarily have the money to invest in a new route or a new bus 2) as an expansion on the touristy aspects, exhibition routes, buy and restore antique/classic busses to put on sightseeing routes

Short distance tickets are a ticket type used by many German transit agencies. They are valid for just a few stops, about 6 stops usually

Do the busses have giant bull-bars on the front that they can use to just shove cars out of the way?

Love that the min specs require 5 gigs of storage but 8 gigs of ram, great news for all the people who have more free ram than storage

I used to play cities in motion so much. This is a cool take on the genre.

They actually just released a tour bus expansion this week :)
It's called City Bus Manager, they would have to change the name if they expend into taxis.
