  • Do you find yourself playing city builders because you like managing a complete transportation and logistics network? If so, the game we're playing today - Transport Fever 2 - might be right up your alley.
    I'm not sure that any game has been requested more on the channel other then this one, so in this mini-series, we'll give the game a shot by learning it's mechanics through the campaign mode. This video will cover the first chapter, which takes place in the Nevada Territory in the mid-1800s South West of the United States. We'll build our first horse-drawn cargo and passenger vehicles, as well as build our first steam train.
    Enjoy!

      If this does hit 250 likes, maybe you could do the missions either in stream or add bonus content to members/Patreon folk. I personally thumbed up because I'm very curious to see you apply your play style to a sandbox (I've only ever watched a TH-camr named Raptor play this game, he has a very different approach than you I think).

      One thing that I love is that the game developers had quite a sense of humour. A bit dark at times. For example in the Switzerland mission set in the 1930s, you'll find some sarcastic references to the events that were happening in Germany at that time...

    You can move the Cockpit Camera while riding in vehicles using W/A/S/D, Q/E, Z/X, and R/F. So you can ride inside the locomotive or any of the passenger cars. Check out all the Key Mappings in Settings by clicking the Menu icon in the upper-right corner, then Settings, then Keyboard.

    i love these games where you build transport and the cities build based on your progress in feeding their needs. i started with that theme way back in chris sawyer's locomotion. open ttd is a newer game with that tile aesthetic. i wish cities skylines had a game mode that was similar to these transport games where you build networks and watch the cities grow themselves over time. with realistic zoning and such. even these old games do this too. they have industrial, shop, and house zones and setting up transport between them helps them grow too. ah. i love it.

There’s countless great discords for the game as well, also the depots don’t need road connections, but it you want to for realism nothing is stopping you. This game is great, and i feel like it is a bit of a hidden gem. It has some decent campaigns, and millions of asset and map mods that make the game way better (just like with Cities Skylines).
    There are 2 major drawbacks that all games in this series suffer from: poor optimization (it just really dislikes some graphics cards), and the cities just don't grow nearly big enough for any kind of realism (some modded maps do plop multiple cities right next to each other to kind of try to make a larger city, but the supply-demand will always stay seperate between the 2).

    • @Shmew455r

      Dang, limiting city growth removes so much incentive

    • @osasunaitor
      @osasunaitor 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Shmew455rcities always keep growing, but they are small to begin with, so they never reach real-life sizes.
      Then again, every resident that you see walking around in this game is an individual npc with its own name, address, workplace and transport preferences (you can see all that by clicking on them). So, naturally, it would kill the game performance to have a city with a million residents, because the game would need to simulate a million npcs travelling around nonstop. That's why city sizes are scaled down, and they might feel a bit underwhelming at times.

    I've been a fan of both TF games, and the sequel definitely took the foundations of the first and improved it. Spent a ton of time playing! Can't wait to see more of it from you!

    Minmaxing this game is part of the fun for me! I remember having to use a 6 track mainline to keep up with passenger demand at one point.

    I pretty much stopped playing city building games after CS2. Now you’re dragging me back into transport fever 2 😅 didn’t really play this game much as a city building game back in 2020, but it for sure looks fun again

    I've been playing Transport Fever 2 since it came out. I love the Workshop as you can install vehicles from real life, like Amtrak for example. You can do Amtrak from 1971 to now in that game, there's so much of it
