    A representative of Urtopia emailed me the following updates:
    - The bike I was given to review was pre-production and used a 54 tooth chainring, the final version uses a 50 tooth, which offers a more comfortable cadense.
    - The handlebar on the final product can be adjusted (but they didn't say in which way or if it could be replaced completely, I've asked for more information).
    - They are applying for UL 2849 certification.

    That is a very nice looking bike...modern yet kinda classic too when shown with the fenders. Also really enjoy how you incorporate seemingly random people to help you with filming and even take time and listen to what they have to say...class act Court!

      Thanks Matthew! I asked the gentleman if he was okay being on camera and he said yes, I cut some parts out to make it smooth. He was really nice, it was cool to see that he uses an Eliptigo to stay in shape!!

    I have received this bike three days ago, and absolutely love it. I can see some things they improved in the meanwhile, because I see so/so things on this bike that om my production version are improved🎉

    $2k for an antique hub motor, the lowest shifter offered and the second lowest deraileur. A top tube battery so high it is no better than a rack mount and a tiny battery even for ten years ago. The software is something everyone will have in a year. I even have a retrofit with even more features now (admittedly more performance oriented, with fewer wow features).
    I do love the mixte frame offered and the recurve bars (mustache?). They offer a more natural hand position. than a straight bar. That basket mount is awesome! The electric bell is a nice touch too.

    It needs to shed 15 lbs. I love the fact there is so much competition in the e-bike market happening right now.

      @@ElectricBikeReview the Velotric Thunder 1 is my favorite. All the reviews have ben positive an it fits the requirements of what I'm looking for. Style, power, price and range are all a the perfect sweet spot for a commuter/fitness ebike.

    Great review! I love what you guys do and appreciate all the attention to details. One thing I'm in the market for is an e-bike that is the best for attaching a trailer to that I can haul my 75LB dog in. Basically I need a bike that has a powerful motor and substantial battery that has a detachable battery (or at least doesn't weigh too much so I can carry it up my back porch steps) that will allow me to take my dog for the longest rides possible. Do you have any suggestions? I have been looking at the Himiway Big Dog in my early investigations but have concerns about the brakes because they are mechanical disc.

    Looks like they currently have it on sale for $1799. It seems like the Carbon model is better, but I have to do some more comparisons to see which one I might buy. I like the design and built-in lights of both models. 250w vs 350w, what does that mean for riding?

    Great review as usual, being Mr anti- proprietary this bike is not for me but i can see how it may appeal to a certain type of rider, i do think it is a bit heavy for what it is and its about $300 more than i would expect probably because of the over engineered tech.

      Good question, I didn't see it advertised on the site but reached out and they just replied this morning with "we are applying for UL 2849" so that's cool. They didn't say anything about the timeframe.

    Good Price for a "euro" e-bike. I know its a lighter frame bike but 350w is a bit under-powered for US Roads

    Lots of questionable design choices that pursue form over function but I bet they'll still sell a good amount based on the number of Van Moofs I see around town. They'll have to in order to recoup all the custom frame R&D dollars!

      Yeah, that was a trade off for me too... it does look nice having the curved downtube that goes right into the seat stays, but I'm not sure it's worth the performance and balance trade-off for me personally.

      I agree. The battery on the previous model is better positioned. Currently this and previous are sale for about the same price.

    Cool bike, just not for me. All that proprietary stuff just over complicates things. Sure they want to offer something different than the standard stuff thats out there, I get that. I started to yawn when you said they sent you the 250w motor version.

    I would buy the Aventon Pace 500.3 over this bike. I hate proprietary bikes

    Great review. Unfortunately another bike that puts the cool factor way over the function factor. Small motor, poor adjustability of seat height. Ridiculous handlebar set up with no adjustment ability and no way to trade out the handle bars. I hope the company goes out of business so we have less trash on the streets.
    Sorry about being so harsh but if the bike can't be adjusted to fit you then its just an unneeded paper weight. Someone will get suckered in by the cool factor and buy this bike and It's sad. But I guess they will get what that they deserve.

      Yeah, I did get an email from a Urtopia representative this morning stating that the bike I got was pre-production. Apparently the final build does have an adjustable handlebar, but they didn't say how exactly, it might just rotate a bit. They also said the final chainring size is 50 tooth vs. 54, so that's nice. It seems like they are trying.

      That surprised me a bit, considering the bike has a higher powered motor than the lighter carbon fiber model. It seems like they used the same capacity battery pack.
