because of all your reviews i have seen i just ordered a radmini keep up the reviews if not for your review i would never known about all the various electric bikes thanks for your eviews
+Elya Cornovier Completely agree, it's a cool one for sure and the motor is very powerful. Even the battery is great with extra power and range over 1/2 kWh
I just ordered one today. I have problems walking very far with my back problems. This should get me back in the woods. Have been researching these bikes and was about to order the rover when they sent me an email about the mini. Wish me luck.
You Toober yes I would. Had a problem with my controler. Rad Power Bikes was fast at trouble shooting my problem and sending me a new controler. Just dont expect it to be a steep hill climber. But keep in mind I'm disabled and can't pedal as good as most people.
+ForbinColossus Thanks! It was nice to have some extra support for this review. I tried to be critical and objective still but it adds more opportunities when working with people even if they are from the company ;)
Excellent review, and this is a fantastic ebike. I wish I had gotten this, instead of the IMax S1+. I sold the S1+, but I'd have definitely kept this baby. This is a steal for the price.
Nice review, Does Rad have an office or store in the bay area???? I know they are based in Seattle. I live in northern Ca and would drive to see it. How would you rate the sondors vs the rad rover???
Never heard of these. Love the review. I subscribed because of your review of Prius travel. The only thing more impressive than your reviews is your model / girlfriend.
I haven't really read through any of the comments, so forgive me if I ask you the same question everyone else is asking....Under $2000, which electric bike would you consider your favorite, mostly for commuting around town back and forth to work, but occasionally for going off road and having fun on trails?
I like this bike! I don't see the negative on the battery powered rear light either. To me, if you loose your main battery power, at least you have power to the rear light. Ideally though, which I haven't seen, is both main and backup battery power for both lights, as eventually you will loose power on the main. Lighting is important.
Quite a hyper cadence you have... creates a inconsistent heart rhythm. I have seen you do this with other bikes as well. maybe the long trip you took in your touring vids opened the concept of pattern creates rhythmic endurance. Yes?! much love to you. and thank you for your reviews
Another great review. My apologies, in advance, for the dissertation. So... I'm new to eBikes and live in a suburban area with some hilly terrain. I'm mostly just looking for a fun bike to ride on some off-road paved trails, wide sidewalks, and a few dirt paths. I probably don't NEED a fat bike, but they look cool and I like that you can do more with them (example. not having to worry about train tracks, etc.). I'm not looking to get a bike for fitness (I have the gym for that) or some Tour de France thing on weekends. Just pure fun. My price point is around $1500 (which is why the Rad bikes - and Volt - appeal to me; curious if you think the Volt is as good), but while I'll be riding around the neighborhood... I'll mostly want to take it to some nearby bike paths (via my car). Possibly a work commute. That's why I'm torn between a fat bike and a FOLDING fat bike. Most folding bikes don't seem like something you'd want as a main bike, but this one looks like it could hit that sweet spot for me... a main bike for casual use that travels. I guess my question is... which would you recommend (considering my use case)... the RadRover + some kind of car rack that works for small cars and heavy bikes... or the RadMini (that looks like it can easily go in my trunk)? Do you think the Mini would be ok as a main bike? I just don't know how I'd transport the Rover (and I'd really like to be able to go places on the weekends). Again, sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks for all the great reviews.
Looks fantastic. I could not find on the web site a lot of specifications. What size riders does this accommodate? I have a 34" inseam so I think it is too small for me.
man this is an attractive bike for me! as a musician I transport an small amplifier with a instrument on my back and this is the first bike that could work. it's powerful, but in racks, and foldable!....awesome! problem is how do I get one here in Paris France??????
+carl marcelin Ahh... that's a great question. I'm not sure if Rad Power Bikes ships internationally? Have you reached out to them? I could totally see this porting an amp around town for gigs :D
+carl marcelin je les avais contacté pour le rad wagon, 550 us dollars pour expédition en France.... peut etre qu'en achat groupé on pourrait faire baisser la facture Vince from Marseille
you never said the distance its capable of, and how the pedaling helps with recharging the battery, or how long it takes to recharge all important info to consider when spending that amount of money.
If I was to say something nice about your video, it would be how nice it made me feel to see a tall person could fit this bike, with the long seat tube, or the long handlebar tube. These items should be standard/custom to any build for muti-users. I know you measure the inseam, I grew up on bikes for the Tribune in the 60'-70's from Velo-to Schwinn. Believe me, the long haul is all it's about. you went the extra mile with this bike. now send me one dammit!
Hi Greg! Not this one, it's a feature that is mostly limited to ebikes with gearless hub motors. This one is geared (which is smaller, lighter and less expensive) and it freewheels so you don't get cogging drag. Also, if you do try to actually charge an ebike by pedaling you'll burn more energy than you create based on having to eat and sweat pedaling. Even if food just grew at your house and wasn't shipped around the world using gasoline then packaged, brought home etc. the conversion from kinetic energy of your body to electric is only ~10% efficient on most bikes today. Local solar, wind or even coal is more efficient than human power to charge... but human power + electric is way more efficient than gas like on motorcycles or cars :)
the key that locks in is by design, you can't loose the key while your riding it. if you were able to remove it, then you could drop it while riding, no bueno
dont put anything heavy in the bags. those straps either pull away from the bag and or the buckles break quickly. have mine tied back on with saran wrap lashings.
great bike! Great review. Must of been a nice ride there in SF off the piers near Embarcadero! U also rode past ATT ball park home of the S.F. Giants. NICE!!
+VW Vanagon Westfalia Travels Great question, I reached out and was told: Total payload: 275 lbs, Rear Rack: 40 lbs. when using the Rad Power Bikes RadMini front rack, Front Rack: 30 lbs. when using the Rad Power Bikes RadMini rear rack hope this helps!
+VW Vanagon Westfalia Travels The RadWagon (larger cargo bike) does have a higher payload, check out more info here - www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/radwagon-technical-specs
+EPSTomcat11 I think they have an office downtown where you can go to take test rides. Definitely reach out and check if they have the RadMini in stock: www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/contact
+EPSTomcat11 There might be a similar one on Amazon but I think the specific bag we showed in the video here was made specifically for the RadMini by Rad Power Bikes so you can probably get it on their website: www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/ebike-accessories though it appears they may be sold out right now.
I have been checking out reviews of ebikes for a few days, especially the Rad models. Nice to see reviews of them all from one reviewer - takes a lot of the personal preference out of the mix. Plus, most buyers would not have access to all of them of course. Is it just my eye, or do you have to remove the seat from the mini in order to get the battery out? It doesn't look like there would be room to slide the battery all the way up...It would be great if there were somewhere around where I could go and try out these various models. Everything I have seen seems to be on the West coast, and I am just outside Gettysburg PA, probably 2500 miles from Seattle! I really like the look of the Rover, the City *and* the Mini, and would hate to buy one and feel later that a different model might have suited me better...
It might sit if the bike isn't moving but the RadMini is still pretty heavy and putting that much weight way up high could be dangerous once you start riding. Might be easier to just pull it in a cheap bike trailer. There are lots on Amazon: amzn.to/2e0iFLN
+Alex Kunze The RadMini does not have regenerative braking. The 7th FAQs question on their site says what I said: "Does the RadMini have regenerative braking? No. Because the RadMini features a geared hub motor vs a direct drive hub motor, it does not feature regenerative braking." Here's the link on their FAQs site, see the 7th question down: www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/radmini-faqs
You did a real disservice to Rad Power Bikes and to people that are shopping. It is a much more substantial bike than this piss poor review shows. I went ahead and purchased this bike and am totally satisfied. Glad I didn't rely on this crappy review. I was just blown away on how much better this bike was than the review. What a piece of crap EBR is.
poche12651 go watch his other reviews of rad bikes. this was no different than those, perhaps slightly less detailed. i dont really like court that much, i find him to be a little pretentious and annoying, but he did a fair review. i own and daily ride a rad wagon and his review was true to the bike with that one and this one looks just the same. court has reviewed bikes from $600 to $6000 and hes has his particulars that he looks for at certain price points. he was fair and honest. if you want someone who isnt snotty, then you are on the wrong channel.
poche12651 though that was a solid review. he didn't make it sound like a bad bike points out issues that many people don't notice until after. I like the bike.
because of all your reviews i have seen i just ordered a radmini keep up the reviews if not for your review i would never known about all the various electric bikes thanks for your eviews
I definitely ordered one with this review. This bike looks superb.
mattyj342111 how do you like your Rad Mini?
mattyj342111 g h
This folding bike is fantastic. The small, thick tire make the bike an eye-catcher. I love the design. A great success has been achieved. Awesome.
+Elya Cornovier Completely agree, it's a cool one for sure and the motor is very powerful. Even the battery is great with extra power and range over 1/2 kWh

+Oscar Grogg Should be a real game changer for you!
What's your opinion of the bike and would you recommend it?
You Toober yes I would. Had a problem with my controler. Rad Power Bikes was fast at trouble shooting my problem and sending me a new controler. Just dont expect it to be a steep hill climber. But keep in mind I'm disabled and can't pedal as good as most people.
Oscar Grogg Okay, thanks for the info!
@18:24 Xlnt footage. Really helps to get an impression by seeing you riding the bike. And riding in traffic handling the city streets - nice
+ForbinColossus Thanks! It was nice to have some extra support for this review. I tried to be critical and objective still but it adds more opportunities when working with people even if they are from the company ;)
another great inexpensive whip from Rad . Fenders and this is the perfect Seattle Pizza and Beer getter .. Not to mention Zombie apocalypse rig
Most Powerful folding bike on the market... I just ordered one. Doyle at Rad Power Bikes is Awesome.
how is doing for you??
This e-bike looks like an excellent all-terrain commuter. Looks well built.
Excellent review, and this is a fantastic ebike. I wish I had gotten this, instead of the IMax S1+. I sold the S1+, but I'd have definitely kept this baby. This is a steal for the price.

volt mariner or rad mini?
Has the company improved on those polished up wiring points that you mentioned in your lovely review? Thanks for the video.

SUPER review! I'm 6'2" 206, how will it fit me? I do not care that much about the weight, I can handle it.

Really nice bike. Might have to get one. Can you charge the battery while pedaling? Some e bikes have that feature.

True, thanks for the reply. Had also been doing some researching on regenerative braking and it doesn't seem to be as efficient as I once thought.
BTW since you're around the area, you should drop by Bolt motorbikes and check out their M-1!
+EPSTomcat11 Awesome, thanks for the tip!
the key that locks in is by design, you can't loose the key while your riding it. if you were able to remove it, then you could drop it while riding, no bueno
How does this compare to magnos electrobike? Please advice
Could you please tell me how much weight can you carry on the back? Thank you
I'm debating between this bike and the Magnum Premium.
dont put anything heavy in the bags. those straps either pull away from the bag and or the buckles break quickly. have mine tied back on with saran wrap lashings.
is there a chance to get only the frame without the electric parts ?
Hello, do you know what the towing weight limit is? I'd like to attach a cargo trailer.
Any changes to the RAD mini in 2017?
great bike! Great review. Must of been a nice ride there in SF off the piers near Embarcadero! U also rode past ATT ball park home of the S.F. Giants. NICE!!
Question: what’s the torque on this?
Does it move without peddling or throttle mode? BTY, Do you have shop in NYC?
Zaw Myo Aung ebikes are illegal in nyc i think in all of ny.
metamorphicorder ebikes are not illegal in NYC. Ebikes with throttle only, not with pedal assist, are illegal.
what is the max weight capacity of the bike?
How much weight is it rated for ? What's the max weight rider will it carry
+ElectricBikeReview.com does the bigger bikes carry a heavier load ?
+VW Vanagon Westfalia Travels The RadWagon (larger cargo bike) does have a higher payload, check out more info here - www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/radwagon-technical-specs
whats a good ebike under a grand im on a budget
Excellent product!
Oooh I love this concept. Where can I try one? I live near SF
+EPSTomcat11 I think they have an office downtown where you can go to take test rides. Definitely reach out and check if they have the RadMini in stock: www.radpowerbikes.com/pages/contact
Wished they made a non-folding model.
Can I Air travel with this Bike? should lithium battery OK on the airplane?
I didn't even know they had Optional Wings....Cool !
What's that trunk bag with the bottle holder on Amazon?
+EPSTomcat11 There might be a similar one on Amazon but I think the specific bag we showed in the video here was made specifically for the RadMini by Rad Power Bikes so you can probably get it on their website: www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/ebike-accessories though it appears they may be sold out right now.
Is there a software hack to remove the 20mph top speed limit for private property use??
I have been checking out reviews of ebikes for a few days, especially the Rad models. Nice to see reviews of them all from one reviewer - takes a lot of the personal preference out of the mix. Heavy duty and cute.
Do you think that, folded, this bike would sit easily on the back rack of the Rad Rover?
It might sit if the bike isn't moving but the RadMini is still pretty heavy and putting that much weight way up high could be dangerous once you start riding. Might be easier to just pull it in a cheap bike trailer. There are lots on Amazon: amzn.to/2e0iFLN
Best price for a reliable 500w e bike
Does this bike have regenerative breaking???
+Alex Kunze Probably not since it uses a geared hub motor and not a direct drive hub motor
It does per their site, just posted this before checking. 😊
+Alex Kunze It does not.
you need to post approx. prices.
Is you get a ignorant flat tire. Is there a tube?
ok I want one..gotta wait for the funds..let's see how long it takes lol
Very good review . Thank you . Looking for an e-bike that I can ship and travel with me.
How are you planning to ship it with a lithium battery?
$1399 if you get in on the first round of pre-orders (:
+Michael Kinkema Nice, thanks for the tip :D
would be better as a trike.though it would need modding.
My Dream Bike, can you pull a little trailer behind it?
No suspension anywhere is a bad thing as missing fenders!
The bike is super fast
When you think fat tires are for you necks and back
just saw the ad on fb. this goes far on one charge... one of the farthest so far, but heavy
any electric fatbike uner 300$
What kind of objective review has the marketing guy from the manufacturer do the folding demo (with nobody actually hefting 60 lbs. of folded bike)?
I would ride that bike to my work in warm seasons but I know it will get stolen within a day lol
It's foldable so bring it inside, unless you work at McDonalds LOL
say great review but kind pricecy...
Noooooo. Okay I'll give you a majic whoopie if you'll just say the word DE-RAIL-ER. You can even spell it that way since IT'S NOT FRENCH.

I like the bike.
Ouch , lol
Can you find a more whiney-voiced annoying reviewer?
