Other ways to make them faster is, one, you can mill of the head 10, 20, 30 thousands or more. This makes more compression and more power and speed. Two, you can use a larger carburetor meant for a 100, 125, 150, or even a 250 cc motor. It won't idle very well and idle very high but the speed gains are exponential.

Someone worked on my brother's Yamaha Razz a few years ago. It took forever to get that thing up to 30 mph. but it topped out at 50 mph. That Razz felt like a death trap. I think you could probably change the gear ratio with some new sprockets. But then you'll either be slow getting up to speed, or fast getting up to speed with no top end to speak of. Not sure what the best gear ratio would be, but that carb. really boosted the one in this video.

I have to rev a few times to "wake it up" before it finally starts accelerating. Top speed is one thing, but really I'd be happy just to go 40 as long as the acceleration from zero is at least decent. It's also way too loud for its disappointing lack of performance.

The next day when I went to start it, it wouldn't start, it would just crank and crank and nothing.
It's been a year since that and I've learned that repairing this scooter is far different from a car. It took me a full year to finally get it started again...and still it needs tuning.

  • @adrianscoggin7212
    @adrianscoggin7212 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

That carb is an 18mm and is by no means a performance carb. You can tell by the radiator drain plug. Also it does not have an acceleration pump. You string the throttle cable through there. Plus if you wanna make your bike run faster, and are mechanically inclined, you should be looking at the transmission not the carburetor first especially given there's not bbk on it. You'll need to get 1000rpm springs on your rear clutch, replace the variator with a performance variator and swap the rollers for 5grams or 7gram rollers, then get a blue unregulated racing CDI and put back on your box filter and remove the cone filter, unless you plan on buying a big bore kit, in which case you're also gonna want to get an aftermarket exhaust pipe, orange performance ignition coils, and better spark plugs with three prongs. That and finally look at replacing the carb with a 20mm and upping the jet size, and popping a 48mm cone filter on it. And if your bike can fit it under it's seat get a nibbi filter extension. Increases airflow allowing more power to the engine. Plus a cooling fan scoop would help as well. But seriously bro, this video just makes me wanna lose it. If you're gonna be doing this type of work at least know a hundred percent what you're doing.

Hello, I have a problem, I have a Peugeot Speedfight 1 100cc that recently seized up/heat seized. It was not tuned. I then changed the cylinder, piston etc. It now starts up right away, but after a while it dies all of a sudden (as if you had turned off the key) and then I can start it right up again, this usually happens when I go over 60 km/h or uphill.
When I changed the cylinder etc, I also cleaned everything thoroughly, such as the carburettor, intake, new air filter, new fuel filter (there was no fuel filter before) new spark plug. I also removed the oil pump and put a metalplate with a gasket over the hole instead, I now mix the oil directly into the gasoline.
Some other info that might be important.
    - When I drive over 60 km/h, it starts to make a noise from the variator (CVT), it´s sounds quite a lot.
    - When it died, I tried to start it again while it was rolling and then it started right away, but it made a noise from the variator, like something "let go" that had been seized up, like a rubber sound, maybe from the belt.
    - The variator belt touches the variator cover on the inside and has grinded a cut in the metal.
    - In the variator, where the weights are, the belt does not go down to the bottom of the wheel.
    - The clutch bell had turned blue from the heat.
    - The place where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft had turned blue from heat.
    - There was no fuel filter on it before. But i now saw there is an internal fuel filter in the gastank, can it affect the vacuum if you now have 2 fuel filters.

    Please help me.
    Regards
    Andree.

Having built a bunch of No-Peds back in the day, I have to say this brings up memories. MILL THE HEAD⭐️It you want “EASY HP” but will need to run premium or race gas (or octane booster). 180 psi can run most pump gas, but I built one with about 200psi and it was REALLY fast but requires race type octane numbers and a “colder sparkplug)CARB⭐️ FIND AN aftermarket race carb for an 80cc and always get your carb tuning correct and check often, learn how to read plugs and watch for high speed leanout. PIPE⭐️ when I look at that pipe it just seems wrong, I would probably get an RM/YZ/CR 80/65 race pipe and cut it up to build a custom pipe for your 70, (yeah it will be a bit flat out of the hole but once it gets on the pipe.. lookout!) PORTING⭐️ at the very least learn about porting and do a mild port/polish)🎉 ⭐️lighten up everything that spins, get a looser clutch, play with gear ratios if possible. But most important, HAVE FUN

I had a Honda Ruckus 2012 moped scooter with a Yoshimura performance exhaust, 150cc Big Bore Kit, Port polished racing jets, heavier weights for the back tire, rev limiter box so it had no limit, neons, skull hand mirrors, tire conversion to give it a stance like a chopper, the works till I ended up warping the aluminum heads and seizing the camshaft because it was still a 49cc, 50cc motor 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was racing cars, motorcycles, everything, I even smoked a pocket bike, I could shoot flames out the exhaust, one of my favorite pastimes was getting real close to a sidewalk as someone was walking getting real close and reving it making it backfire multiple times and scaring the hell out of people 🤣🤣🤣 but do to what happened to it that's when I put it in my garage and bought my E46 BMW, sometimes I think about fixing the old Ruckus
