Fun fact: When using guardsmen with take aim against things with a 5+ invul and 3+ save the heavy bolter is better than the lascannon. Lascannon only win against tough things without invul or against 2+ save in cover. So the heavy bolter becomes a surprisingly good all-round weapon with guard infantry.
Saw in discord recently a combo for the Punisher Gatling Cannon and Psyker. Both stacking their slow debuffs -4" on a unit and then landing a Godspear on it. Is that even possible?
I don’t see anything illegal. Both abilities and the core rules allow stacking and the timing seems to work out as well. Though it seems possible for a M6 unit to make it out of reach with a 4+ advance roll, so careful planning is still required.
@@davidgantenbein9362 the psyker also gives a -2 to advance so if you are targeting a unit or large model (basically anything except characters) they probably won't be able to dodge unless you placed the marker terribly
@@norabder8816 I was calculating for a unit and did include the -2 on advance, hence the 4+. The resulting 4 inches should be in the ball park of getting out (given normal bases are below 2 inches). But yes, monsters with large bases have bigger problems, a valid point here.
Me a tank heavy guard comannder "Write that down, write that down" (I still like spamming big shots with 6 to hit auto wound it just makes wounding phase go so much faster)
I wonder if a baneblade is a better tank than the Dorn to get ingrained precision every turn. Dorn has 36 shots where a baneblade has 53. Baneblade despite only getting rerolls one with a order will be making more auto wounds just because it has a lot more shots. The baneblade also has a lot of D2 weapons where the Dorn has D1. Making its volume of fire more valuable. You don't even need lord solar to make it work just vaunted praetorian so its even easier to fit into lists.
Hey all I’m new to the channel and I have been wanting to get into the imperial guard for sometime and I’m on a budget as I just moved into a new place and wanted to know how would you go about getting into the guard should I just start with a Chadian shock troops box?
Poor man's version: leman Russ punisher with heavy bolter sponsons and heavy stubber for 32 shots. Using ingrained precision strat and "gunners kill on sight" (reroll 1s to hit) tank order you can get fairly close for 100 pts less without needing models you can't currently buy
I'm not necessarily expecting Guard to get any major, out of the gate nerfs, like Votann did, and I can say it's really exciting, after I said so many times that I didn't think they'd let the benchmark Guard get to be better than numerous other factions, who are supposed to use Guard to know how much better they need to be, to see them rise so high, but I almost feel like some of these builds are just screaming "prevent!", before we've even seen how they stack up with other forces, and whatever edits they get for the new, upcoming meta. Oh well, for now, I'm just glad to see impressive Guard! 😁
do we add the basket of the first pair of sponsons to the price of the super tanks? Thank you for your answer. there is still such a problem because in the case of leman you pay 5 for borter or lascanon. and where I play, i.e. in Poland, they immediately said that you pay. so said the pro players and so it is.
Sadly, I can't use my Stormhammer. Which pisses me off no end. Or my Maccharius, or any legends tank cause GW got lazy. Didn't want to update the rules. -.-!
No points changes to the Guard from the MUNITORUM FIELD MANUAL, which is real nice
