Morning and how are you all, this is a really interesting one, its my first listen to the new Deep Purple single Portable Door with Simon McBride on guitar.
I claim no copyright for this music as my own work and I am only commenting on the original video.
The original video without the annoying English bloke can be found here: americansongwriter.com/deep-p...
and more information about Deep Purple form their own site: deeppurple.com
Here is an interesting little interview with Ian Gillan and Simon McBride too: americansongwriter.com/deep-p...
I would be interested to here what @stratfanatic thinks of Simon's Playing too!
It is brilliant. Deep Purple has its own lane..no one comes close.
I think it's awesome when your favorite band from the 70s can still rip the hinges off the door... And no, none of us are as young as we used to be.
I thought the same :)
Well said
Wow Deep Purple still rocking after almost 60 years. Sounds great.
Deep Purple always the Master of Hardrock ❤
Wasn't expecting something so fresh sounding, yet classic Deep Purple at the same time. It s a thumbs up from me.
everything louder than everything else....it's PURPLE....!!!!
56 years of Deep Purple history... Amazing stuff.
Classic Purple
Love this reaction review! I just saw the video last night for the first time, and I was blown away! I am a big fan of Steve Morse, but Simon McBride is one hell of a guitar slinger... and at 45, he's just a "kid!" I have to say that Don Airey is my favorite keyboard player. I'd love to hear you cover this one, Nick. I can't wait for the new Purple = 1 album to drop!
The most undervalued Rock Band ... since 1967
Great tune! Stands up with any other classic DP
It's an absolute banger isn't it. Great swing and rhythm, awesome solos, what's not to like. 😍
Great review of a great Purple's song. Their Portable Door opened Machine Head and In Rock memories.
Immortal Deep Purple!!!
Thank you for performing this Mass, Sir :) I heard them all somehow involved: Jon, Steve... back to 72. It`s pure Purple 😉😁
Simon McBride is playing one of his signature PRS guitars - he’s an official endorsee. He’s an excellent player, but then, if you’re playing with Purple, you’d have to be. Ritchie Blackmore is the sound of classic Purple and he’ll never be far from fan’s thoughts. Morse and now McBride were/are excellent replacements, more technically accomplished than Blackmore and terrific musicians in their own right.
I think McBride possibly fits better than Morse in that he is a blues-rock guitarist, more suited to heavy playing than the remarkably versatile Morse. McBride was also playing in Don Airey’s band and on Ian Gillian’s solo tours for a few years before being asked to join Purple after Morse left. He is a comfortable fit in the band and provides renewed energy, like an energetic employee entering the Deep Purple Nursing Home and getting the elderly residents out of their comfy chairs onto the dance floor.
@@EstebanBoganinope . But this is really good
To be honest, if I hadn´t know, I´d thought it is Morse playing.
I thought Simon is more close to Ritchie but he isn´t.
Nevertheless I love the guitar parts and he is great, and so is the rest of the band.
And I bow down especially for Ian and Ian...
What they do at their age... is just incredible!!
Well said, my friend in purple.
La mejor banda de la historia!
Great analysis! Loved your take on the song!
Very Pictures of Home, like Simon's guitar solo, I'd have loved the guys to have improvised over that chugging outro for a couple of minutes more! Hope the albums as good.
Great sound and mix , looking forward to the album 👌🏻👍🏻
Great song, great reaction & commentary. Nice work all round. Cheers 🤘
Now Deep Purple is back again since R.B. guitar! Pure and root.
Saw them live Perfect Stranger tour & wish Ritchie was still in the group. Not diminishing the new guitar player at all. Great that they still got it. All these years later...
Nice that Simon doesn’t simply shred the guitar solo.
They STILL are truly great. Still top musicians.
Great video, a purple nut of 40 years
When you hear that driving C3 sound, it's instantly recognizable as DP. One Firm, multiple iterations, one sound. That's hard to beat.
Good stuff with the 'new ' axeman Mr Mcbride.. Don Airey has a long Rainbow/ Purple pedigree and has been playing Hammond since he was a 'kid'... He had an A 100, that is I suspect the one he's had the Hammond workshop resurrect for his Purple gig ( not in the promo vid) as Lordy's C3 maybe needed perhaps a ' little' more work!! ! As this is quintessentially a HAMMOND vlog site, well done by Nick, a passionate Hammond chap. Then let us just say that the Hammond adds a dynamic to this track that makes it sound just as genuine 'Purple' as ever .... I like it !!
Sweet - I really love this new song from Deep Purple. And Simon McBride is doing a spendid job as the new guitarist in studio too obviossly 🙂 Tnx for the Reaction-video Nick. Btw: listen to the lyrics now -they're great too! :) - Regards from Norway
Great review. Purple is amazing.
Grande Deep Purple!!
DP fan from the beginning. Simon’s solo breathes with a fat Satriani tone and beautiful changes completely reminiscent of the uniqueness of sound that is DP. Don has also stayed connected to the style that makes them special. Love it. 🤘
It is growing on me every time I hear it! They are great musicians
Great analysis, really enjoyed your input on this. It's a banger of a riff. Well done to DP, still knocking it out in 2024. Don doing Jon to a tee. Love it.
Sounds great!
I don't know your channel, but you got an immediate thumbs up from me for the PAL intro. Nice.
Not many people notice it
I learned a lot. That's a future purple classic. Thanks.
Tjrs au top 👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎶🎤🎤👏👏👏👏
I like it. Have it in my Favorite on my music on my phone.
I would be very surprised if the rock station 93 3 WMMR in Philadelphia would play this song.
Superb review! 🎉🎉
This says to me this track could of come from Machine Head era
Portable Door is a book by Tom Holt now also made into a film.
This is the first book in the J. W. Wells & Co. series
Leslies ? Have Purple given up on The Beast since Mr Lord Departed? Keep Reacting!
I love it Mr Foley !
I have an idea , get Frank involved 😎🤣
They still have it and that's the only thing that counts. ✊🏻✌🏻❤ DP!
I am so glad I learned English at school so I can unterstand Your review almost completely! This great Rock Band has an iconic sound that did not chance other the (many) years.
I like the new single very much although I still don't know what 'portable door' means!
Their first performance was at a puplic school for a youth club crowd in Tåstrup Denmark...grew up there and my 80 year old mom still lives 30 feet from the school
Solid DP 🎹😎👍
Great video Nick. Love your playing. New single is great and although I adore Steve Morse, Simon is fantastic and just what purple needed to keep it fresh!
Thanks for a fantastic video
Exactly that mate
I wish the radio station will play PURPLE here in the states. Europe is fortunate.
Pictures of Home was my first thoughts on hearing this, it's like they are looking at the past going forward
Wanna rock? Deep Purple is the answer
That was fucking great!!
Mega!
Deep Purple -
Was not sure when I heard it first so second time it is very good looking forward to the album
Truly sounds like it could have come out right after Perfect Strangers.
This is how you do hard rock!
Can't believe it, actually. I feel like it's 1973 again. So good
Nick. Hopefully you're doing good up there my friend. Steve Morse's guitar playing I love. I bought his first Solo album and the Dixie Dreggs stuff....but I never got why he joined DP. Simon is so much closer to Richie's playing. Gillan's vocal range has been getting shrunk over the years and the days of Speed King....long gone, but THIS IS REAL POSITIVE. Sounds good. I think for Video purposes....It's now an exercise of promoting new albums and hopefully the new album will deliver some classic Purple sounds with Simon on board. Not sure how Don is doing. Haven't heard anything since. Speak soon. Remember to wear your ATACK T shirt. Promo is essential.....Nige
Hiya Nige ! I love this new Purple song , sounds fantastic and fresh .
We (Atack ) are playing the Patriot end of this month , see if you can come up ✌️
Love you Nige x
ACE!!! ❤❤❤
I've seen an interview with the new guitar player (and even just visually) ... definitely a PRS.
For me Morse is the best , he's the only one who gave me goosebumps by his high notes playing (Birds of Prey) . But for the others, Blackmore was the best for riffs ,maybe McBride will be a combination of both ❤
It´s really fresh, interesting and exciting!
What is your personal taste? I somehow like Don´s style more than Jon´s.
It always sounds more fresh and kinda progressive.
But I´m only a guitar player... 😀
Surely their best release in 10-15 years!
Woohooo🤟
Thanks to Steve Moas for quaternary of century of continuing the DP but Simon seems to have new perspective keeping DP fresh and evolving no DP song sounds the same.
Reminds me of the Battle Rages On album.
Sounds to me like old DP, from seventies and a part from perfect strangers. I like it very much because sounds as DP, not like Ian Gillan band.
🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻😎
chorus kills it,, too poppy and similar to late Purple choruses, otherwise I agree...
Yeah it's Pictures of Home from Machine Head. I haven't been a fan of any releases since Stormbringer. I thought Gillan's voice had much too much treble which I found unbearable to listen to and the musical side was not to my taste either, but this single is really well made.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Rod is out then?
Mcbride n morse did not lead the music of purple as what blackmore coloured it although they played brilliantly.
I think the "portable door" is Ian always having an out during "dire situations". See yuz!
yes, what is a portable door?
Nick rocks Jon would be proud of him but how about wooly bully watch it now 😮
Good song but I think Simon is holding something back
0:37, with " the new guitar player ".
Sounds kinda disrespectful.
His name is Simon McBride.
Hmmm…. 🤔
I am sorry boys, they should have been retired already! Too bad for the brilliant guitar player.
Gilan has 3-4 song templates that he has been milking for the last 20 years. Very sad picture. Deep Purple has always been my number 1 but it is a horrendous picture listening to that. Steve Morse was like a squire peg trying to fit on a circular hole. At least he got out. I bet you he is way better now. This has got to stop. There is no way of energising the band without a brain, without that spark between Lord and Ritchie. All is soon mellow and the same.
That was a fail.
You had the music video sound too low, and you too high.
Again, you failed.
Thanks for your help John , I will take it onboard. We all gotta start somewhere right?
react pages are completely useless.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz same old same old, throw in a needless guitar solo for the sake of it , I'll keep my memories of YESTERYEAR thanks
