What a great surprise this review is, I really did not expect the Dice Tower to review any brazilian exclusive game. Great job shedding a light on the brazilian board game scene.
This is a great review, Mike! I love the idea of bringing attention to international games and publishers. Hopefully this review will gain the game enough attention to warrant a wider release.
I saw you teaching this on the cruise and was one of those people that stopped and said “woah, what is this?!” I wasn’t able to play it, but this looks great. Can’t wait to try it sometime
You are doing a great job checking this gem Mike! That is the type of recognition that can encourage our local publishers to release their games worldwide. The boargame industry here in Brazil is raising a lot on the last years. I would also suggest Brazil Imperial and Luna Maris. I can suggest futures releases too, since I am a playtester here in Brazil. =)
Oh my! I'm so happy and proud of my friends from Bucaneiros. Bucaneiros (publisher for Comic Hunters) also makes awesome inserts here in Brazil, check it out, people! We love Bucaneiros, it's definitely a jewel for us brazilian boardgamers!
Wow thank you for showing me this game. Not only am I a board gamer but I also collect comic books. I know the significance of a lot of those comics, I think some are in there just cause though. I'm really excited this exists and the game actually looks good.
I was so happy to play with and be taught this game by Mike at the Dice Tower Cruise. It was, by far, my favorite new game of the Cruise! Hope it makes it's way to the US!
For those watching this and getting the spin master version - know that components aren’t that great - cardboard is thin and flimsy and board doesn’t sit flat. Some folks also got misprints. But if you can get a whole version of it still really fun to play for 24.99. Like how they modified it so you can play with 2 as well as 3 or 4.
Played it late last night at Dice Tower West and I agree that it is very fun and thematic! I hope it does get wide release including to Canada! Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
Great review! I agree. First thing i did with my copy - sleeve the cards. Second was customize some wooden discs for better scoring markers and hero ranking markers. Love the game!
I don't care that much for comics, but I'm so intrigued by those four ways of card drafting! That sounds so fun!! Will definitely keep an eye on it if it becomes more easily available!
Out of all the marvel games out there I decided to get this one. Sure legendary, united, and champions are great and all but very samey and with tons of expansions but I don't want to get to another game with tons of expansions (I only own hero realms as a game with tons of expansions and I don't want to get to another rabbit hole ever again with expansions) It's the most marvel thematic game out there at least for me as a having comic collection as well. Anyway also not a fan of euro games but I can just imagine that it's a race for most of the money instead a plain boring victory points. Thanks for the review and explaining the rules really really well
I had an idea for a similar game a while back, but it was more of a simultaneous timed-round game. Similar comic cards (also using actual comics covers) with icons on them plus special icons like First Appearance, Crossover Event, Anniversary Issue, etc. These comic cards would then be placed in "longboxes" which are just those white card boxes that look just like comic boxes. So on a turn, everyone would get a box randomly filled with dozens of comic cards. They'd then all simultaneously get thirty seconds to flip through the comics looking for four comics to add to their collection. Everyone would then pass their box to the left and repeat. That's as far as I got. It was going to be some sort of Sushi Go style scoring after that. This Comic Hunters game sounds like Sushi Go on steroids. Or I guess Sushi Go on the Super Soldier Serum. If it's not ever available here, I might have to see about constructing my own version of this, (and maybe grafting in my longbox idea), that way DC and Image comics can be added in, although I'm sure that would dilute scoring significantly.
This reminds me of the game Vinyl, but the mechanisms and official artwork help elevate it to the next level. I can't wait for the official Arcane Wonders/Spinmasters version to come out so we don't have to spend $200+ to get a copy. Thank you, Tom Vasel, for helping get this game published for a MUCH wider audience!!!
Man, I wish they have put DC, Valiant etc(maybe expansion), it works thematically, as not all Comic Hunter just focus on Marvel or one brand, we hunt Key Issues. Anyway, I like the game, and it could be an eye-opener to those who's not IN to collecting comics. Kudos!
I think it’s ironic that I have not found a super hero/ marvel game that I have wanted to add to my collection. None have them have appealed to how I want to play. And the one game I would love to get is only available in Brazil. I’m with everyone else, hopefully people make enough noise that someone will find it worth their time to get the license mess figured out so it can be released worldwide. This feels like top 100 bgg material. And if that doesn’t happen, I’m glad Brazil has a sweet game no one else gets. Usually it’s us spoiled Americans that get that treat.
My brain read cosmic hunters (yes I’m tired) and I was super excited till he said comic hunters.. it still looks pretty cool, but not what I was expecting lol
Great review. Though it has a theme I like,I just don't see the replayability in it. Yes the value of comics changes from game to game, but it just draft upon draft and I think that would just get uninteresting after a while.
I've played it about a dozen times so far and haven't gotten tired of it. Your decisions can be informed by opponents collections, their standing on the tracks, their willingness to bid durong the auction, the turn order during an event, etc. Lots of considerations that i havent gotten tired of. -Chris,
Licensing will probably prevent this from ever getting a US release. Wonder if someone like Greater Than Games could do a Sentinels retheme or something?
More Marvel, I was just thinking there needs to be more Marvel themed games! It's gone from one of my favorite IPs to being one I can't stand to even look at anymore. I'm just going to sit quietly and wait for a wave of Richie Rich themed games.
I think because a publisher must contact both Bucaneiros Jogos (which released this game) as well Marvel owner to license the game throughout other countries. Intelectual properties need to be licensed for each country to enable the release of this game. Here in Brazil Bucaneiros got a Marvel license and published three Marvel based games: this Comic Hunters, Marvel Battlegrounds and Marvel Spider-Web. Another license that Bucaneiros got was Peaky Blinders. Peaky Blinders: Birmingham Domain was released last year and Peaky Blinders: London Conquest is planned to be released this year.
It took two years, but here we are Mike! Thanks to you, Tom, and everyone involved for bringing this to the states.
I don't normally sleeve my cards, but in this case, it works thematically! They look like bagged comics! 😀
By god your right....
love it!!!
Same here! When I first saw this game this was my first thought.
What a great surprise this review is, I really did not expect the Dice Tower to review any brazilian exclusive game.
Great job shedding a light on the brazilian board game scene.
Just noticied that you guys did a review on Pitcrew from BGC Editora😅😁
Now, it's a part of the Dice Tower Essentials and available in English in the US!!!
This is a great review, Mike! I love the idea of bringing attention to international games and publishers.
Hopefully this review will gain the game enough attention to warrant a wider release.
I would really love to add this to my collection. I hope a US publisher is able to obtain the rights.

Tell them to ship this to Chile, I need it
Love this game, hope this helps signal boost and get this to North America because I want expansions!!!
Bought this online and got my sister to bring me this from Brazil in her last visit… score!

Oh man! I want this game! This looks amazing, I really hope it gets a US release otherwise I am taking a Brazilian vacation soon :)
You can now get this through Barnes and Noble. Got my shipping notification today.
Man, really want this one. Thanks for sharing I had never heard of this.
Hopefully this gets to the U.S. and hopefully also gets a DC version too.
Thanks for the review Mike!
My friend just picked up a copy of Comic Hunters, and we plan to play it Halloween weekend! Great overview and review👍
I don't care that much for comics, but I'm so intrigued by those four ways of card drafting! That sounds so fun!! Will definitely keep an eye on it if it becomes more easily available!
Played this at the Orlando retreat and I really liked it, and I'm not even a comics fan. Very fun drafting game. Shame it's not available in the US.

I hope this gets wider distribution! I'd love to pick this up.
I love the collections theme. It works well with comic books. It could also work well with boardgames.
Maybe a variant with board game covers by artists: Dutrait, O'Toole, Moriya, Laukat, Piero, Sobel, ...?

LOL! This is a game I never imagined in my dreams ... looks awesome.
Excited to see this is getting a broader release now. Hoping to get a copy soon!
Did I order this game from Brazil just to "Be Like Mike"?....Yes, I did...Mike Dilisio is a National Treasure!!
This reminds me of the game Vinyl, but the mechanisms and official artwork help elevate it to the next level. I can't wait for the official Arcane Wonders/Spinmasters version to come out so we don't have to spend $200+ to get a copy.

and only $25 retail! It just came out on Barnes and Nobles
@@curtislinden9297Amazing! Thanks so much for the tip. Ordered!
After seeing your unboxing, I would have picked this up instantly if it was available.

Here in Brazil we are more than used to figuring out how to bring the exclusive us games over haha
Round 2 is Coleretto. I love that game. This is interesting.
I love marvel comics and I love drafting; this game was made for me!
Now I need to learn Portuguese….
There is an English rulebook at BGG published by author himself.
For anybody viewing this now, this game has officially been released in English in North America and Europe
I’m so excited! Just purchased for my husband as a Christmas gift. Shopping early haha
I would love to see this game played solo mode to see how it works in the solo mode
This game is awesome! Nice Review.
Oh man this one looks amazing!!!!
My brain read cosmic hunters (yes I’m tired) and I was super excited till he said comic hunters.. it still looks pretty cool, but not what I was expecting lol
ive been trying to find a way to get a copy of this to Aus i really hope a publisher picks it up
This is the future speaking!
Comic Hunters is now available in English!
It's also available at Barnes and Noble!
Can someone please bring this to the US?
I want this game.
Oh my, I live right next to Brazil, going to try to get this
This needs to be made in English like yesterday!!!!
Would appreciate if you would place player counts and time needed to finish the game in the intro.
Anyone know of any international shops I can get this shipped to the US from??
Amazon, probably
Its on Amazon Brazil, I got it into my cart, but it asked for my CPF and I dont know what that is
@@eVanDiesel CPF is pretty much Brazilian ID number. A document only Brazilian citizens have.
@@DinobotTM2 i think that's going to be a barrier for getting it into the USA then
Yeah, that's weird, we are so used to get things from the US that the other way around is not developed 😅
What a genius game theme!

I'm curious how this game compares to Vinyl.

Shame this is only available in Brazil
We need an expansion with x-men comics
Also how is the solo automa Mike?
It’s very good.
@@michaeldilisio557 beatable? Repayable?
Kinda hilarious that the fleamarket is just a Marvel retheme of Coloretto.

Why do you tease this will never be released in North America
I think because a publisher must contact both Bucaneiros Jogos (which released this game) as well Marvel owner to license the game throughout other countries. Intelectual properties need to be licensed for each country to enable the release of this game.

Actually, by teasing this, it becomes more likely to be published worldwide. Not just this one but other titles like it.
