I know you probably have been playing tekken for years and already know some of how to play the others, but how does one go about learning another character? I just feel so lost when it isnt Law. I tried asuka, first by just seeing what her jab looked like and the punishment training to see what her punishers were, then ranked to get my butt kicked till some of it sank in to muscle memory. I lost a lot, like 15 matches in a row. Though when learning someone i can barely control, losses really dont mean much, what was i going to do? Hit the wrong attack or think too long about what attack. More comical than anything. The only win i had was against a blue rank trying out Law as an alt. I barely knew what i was doing but i knew enough to capitalize on their lack of Law knowledge. Felt good.
My goto basics: Learn your 10,12,13,14,15 frame punishers, while rising and while standing Counter hit heat engages Obviously combos but specifically: wall carry oki and 2 hit tornadoes for wall situations Mix ups: good mid and low poking, condition your opponent a lil, store and process information based on what they’re actually doing Really just want to be an honest player and knowledge check, use appropriate punishes, and be able to capitalize without thinking. Hope it helps(I’m not expert, just giving out commoner advice)
What cloudboy said 👆🏻 But I would add to that, that there are big differences with in character archetypes. For example, Lee and Law are very similar. Asuka and law are very different. Asuka is a completely different archetype than law, and plays much differently with a different gameplan. When you try a new character, it is important to familiarise yourself with that characters specific archetype. I would recommend watching guides from people who are specialists in the character you want to learn. With asuka for example, that could be fergus2k8 Listen to their tips and watch their gameplay and notice how they play so that you can start to adopt it for yourself
@@Lambkin-_- that’s what he’s the goat guys, always giving out gems. Being familiar with Jun made Asuka an easy transition although they have their differences for sure. But as humans we are adaptable. If you watch high level gameplay with the character of choice and understand the psychology behind the moves they use, you’re in a good spot
