You're right about Kong's face being off in those 1976 posters. Word is, Dino DeLaurentiis wanted Kong to look more human, and that those posters are the last remnants of that idea.

8:32 It is not just you, because they look a bit off for a reason. There were six posters made for the 1976 Kong movie. They are Kong fighting the giant snake, breaking through the wall, destroying the elevated train, emerging from the East River, climbing the Twin Towers and battling atop the towers. Kong had a different appearance on each one. Somebody in management thought the public might mistakenly believe there was a whole group of Kongs in the movie, so they had all the heads on the posters replaced with a copy of the head from the most well-known poster. The only one that did not get a makeover was the one of him climbing the towers because of the angle at which the scene was drawn did not allow the change. I have seen the original versions of the first two posters I mentioned, somewhere online, many years ago.

Just a little correction, in the 1976 version, her name is Dwan, not Anne
In contrast to many of the MechaGodzilla posters, these Escapes posters portray MechaniKong much bigger than King Kong, at least more of a feel of a threat. Hilariously enough, back in the day when I was new to the kaiju genre and looked around, I was left stumped at while King Kong was 45 meters tall in KK vs G, MechaniKong was "only" 25 meters in one of those old lists of kaiju with their stats, powers and origins, what kinda match up was that going to be and odd scaling in practice. Then realized that King Kong was downscaled himself in Escapes in contrast to King Kong vs Godzilla.

Unnecessarily bloated storyline that makes the movie _way_ too long (a Peter Jackson signature move), tons of pointless characters that have no effect on the story, digital effects used to the point of absurdity (another PJ trademark: things like jack black running in a dinosaur stampede and _not_ getting stepped on? dudes jump-kicking dinosaurs in the head? kong going ice skating?), not to mention an honest-to-goodness Ann/Kong love story crammed in for no reason, because it *certainly* wasn’t in the original 🤨

Edit: I forgot to mention that they are the ones (besides Susan) who got locked up in jail, by Dr. Who.
John Berky who did some star wars poster art painted a bunch of the Kong 76 promo art with titles like Kong smashes snake, Kong smashes hut and many more. Without his consent an art director changed the faces to the one from Berky's Kong 76 world trade center art for the main poster. This art also had several versions that are the same Kong with different amounts of detail with jets, helicopters and what looks like a giant rocket blowing up. I think one was for the newspaper when the studio got the rights to Kong, then the poster and sound track album art. Some people call the different versions the Elvis and Travolta Kongs.

I've been enjoying these videos, but I do have to comment on your criticisms of the giant Kongs being larger than the buildings. They're not really representative of the monster's actual size. It's more or less done for effect, illustrating the danger the creature represents to the entire city. A perfect example of this is the poster for Friday the13th part 8 Jason Takes Manhattan where the 6'3" Jason looms large over New York City.
