- War can bring out the worst in men, but sometimes it can bring out the very best. In today's amazing new military story, we're sharing the real life heroics of Desmond Doss, the man who was awarded the Medal of Honor without firing a single shot, and who had just recently had a film produced about his life story and his time in the war as a medic. This man would not give in to violence, and saved 75 soldiers! All without firing a single shot.

One more thing to do right now
I like this quote. You have chosen well.
People need to watch the movie “hacksaw ridge” about this guy. Amazing movie!
Yes it is!!
For real!
I cant find it anywhere
We need more ppl like him
It is a great movie
Did anyone else see the title and know immediately that it was about Desmond Doss?
Me but it's so crazy because I just watched a movie about him yesterday
I did
Right here
Yeah
Yup. Amazing guy, amazing movie. Must watch guys
I hate when people say ‘They WON the metal of honor’ they did not win it, they EARNED it! Thank you for your service! Also, no hate to Infographic love your vids
Ya saying they won it makes it sound like it's a competition and not a war.
Yeah true, u don't win the Medal of Honor, u are awarded the Medal of Honor or u are a Medal of Honor recipient. Its not like Olympic gold medal, where u can compete and win. Medal of Honor has to be earned by showing extreme bravery and self-lessness, heroic action that merits for the award. No matter how many Olympic or other awards u have or what rank u have (including General or Admiral), it doesn't get u this award. I consider this the most prestigious award.
@sand man life is not a competition, if u see it that way, then maybe u are just or trying to compete with others.
The medal won them!
I hear 'WON' quite often.
The proper way to state this is 'They were AWARDED the Medal of Honor.'

He’s one of the reasons why I decided to be a combat medic in the Army.
When’s your next upload and I just subscribed to your channel
Cool
Respect!
Thank you for your service, sir.
He adheres to his peaceful ideology even in situations that would make most people break their vows. I respect that.
And he lived to tell the tale.
Desmond Doss is just one of many God fearing men who were badasses in their own right.
If you get the chance look up the story of Andrew van der Bijl, AKA Brother Andrew. The dude smuggled Bibles into Communist controlled countries and was never caught once!
Ah yes. Desmond Doss. This guy is one of the most awesome guy I have ever heard of. A true legend.
Now this is a guy that deserves to have a school and a street named after him
He deserves to have a whole city named after him.
@Shem Casimir well, least now I know to see _that_ coming under these videos...
@@seand.g423 I feel like I got jumpscared
He has many things named after him. There are some roads and buildings named after him.
ΝΙΚΟΣ ΝΙΚΟΣ he deserves a new state named after him
This man is actually a hero in my country, the Philippines because he saved Leyte, Philippines
James M. Padre Juan

The film Hacksaw Ridge actually omitted some of his heroic deeds in the Pacific theatre of WWII as Mel Gibson thought they were unbelievable, don’t get me wrong it’s still a great film.
To be fair, Mel Gibson has been in multiple historically inaccurate movies.
There's definitely a divine intervention
@@trivolution1 If you don’t like it, go make your own movie!
I think it's funny. Usually the movie industry will inflate a person in order to make them seem more heroic than they really were. In the case of Desmond, they had to DEFLATE him to make him seem realistic.
I think that says more about Desmond than anything else.
@@JohnSmith-gz5pmDude, he said "has been" which implies he " acted in a movie". He didn't say he "directed" historically innaccurate movies.
Desmond Doss, The Medic who fought the war without a weapon.
@Shem Casimir who says Having a religion makes you useless?
Hat Guy literally nobody..
@@hatguy8225 he is probably means people that belive in a religion is more caring and they do not want violence.
@@musey2694 oh. Ok
@@musey2694 yup true
We’re waiting, sir.
Waiting for what?
For Private Doss to finish praying for us, sir.
Yes
Dude he even made peta happy, that my friends is one legend
This guy 😩🤙🇺🇸 it was my dream to be a medic, and now I'm shipping out on the 28th FLW let's goooo

He also saved a Japanese soldier
Multiple Japanese soldiers
@@maxmyers9700 yep
My bad
I saw that in the movie, but in real life did he really tended to wounded Japanese soldiers?
dallas yap yes he did
I've seen the movie 7 times and would highly recommend the movie everyone
I said almost the same thing lol
"keep this man away from strong winds".
Legs: wounded
Arm: broken
Desmond: 'Tis but a scratch.
"Please, Lord! Help me get one more! Help me get one more!"
A man that truly went above n beyond the call of duty. God sure blessed him while he was alive.
Istg i cryed when I first watched hacksaw ridge 😭 10/10 highly recommend
Glad I’m not the only one. That movie was incredible

Awesome video. I love this guy and his story. RIP Desmond 🙏🏿
I'm from Lynchburg VA!! Thank you so much for doing a video on this!!! Growing up here, we heard about Desmond Doss, but never what he accomplished. Thank you!!
The Movie Hacksaw Ridge based on him is an amazing movie
And is on true story.
@@skull3374 he literally just said "the movie based on him"
I would have been surprised, if it wasn't Des Doss
Game : Using gun is optional in the mission

This is what I like about the Infographics. They are in different perspectives. They don't do any hiding. They really set the truth out. Thanks.
What a legend.. Desmond was more of man than most of the batallion together.. to be so kind hearted and yet the bravest of them all.
Amazing! The courage that it takes to be virtually defenseless while putting yourself in harms way many times. Impressive.
"Private Doss, you are allowed to run in the hellfires of battle without a single weapon to protect yourself with"
You are allowed to run under the hellfires
My grandpa was a Canada pilot in World War 2 and got the Purple Heart award from flying a plane under a falling bridge and saved many lives he died of old ageR.I.P he is remembered to be one of the best pilots
this is the defenition of peace
Now THIS Desmond is amazing!
There’s no such thing as “winning” the Medal of Honor. It’s not a competition
Facts
*awarded
earned
@@williamthewombat1734 you could have "earned it" and never get it awarded tho...
The reason I said awarded it's because it isn't something you get automatically for your bravery in war. It depends on the president of it's awarded or not.
You're just jealous cuz you've never won one.
I'm not a religious man by any means, but I really, really hope Mr. Doss was able to enter his faith's version of paradise after he passed. While we need tough-as-nails soldiers with no quit in them like Audie Murphy, we also need more men like Doss whose body count is how many he carried to safety.
Movie: Hacksaw Ridge. I knew it just by seeing the video's title. Awesome movie.
Thank you so much for all this informations! You are the best!
Such awesome historical videos ... you guys ROCK!
the only time he held a gun in battle was to save lives, he is a legend.

Awesome Video !
Oddly enough, Doss possessed a goodness than any Japanese buddhist would appreciate then and now. He's a true hero, a man who didn't have to resort to violence for others to view his heroism. The man deserves three MOH medals in my opinion. One for the men he saved from the Japanese, one for saving the Japanese soldiers from his rifle, and another for good measure. You just don't see men like Desmond anymore.
ive watched like 5 videos on the guy, and i cant get enough about hearing about this man
He was so much better than we deserved!
There’s a movie about this and it’s my favorite movie

The medal of honour has never been about killing but extreme bravery and loyalty to your brothers in arms under extreme circumstances. Men who go above and beyond the call of duty to save civilians or their fellow soldiers.
