      looking at it and the resemblence it may be Alpha version or very early version of the large scale halo that can wipe out the flood in the galaxy that one might be a smaller planet wide one that was probably in the beginning of the flood spores infecting people which led them to develop one or maybe multiple instillations to try and control the flood spread but maybe like aliens vs predator it hitched a ride and survived which caused more drastic measures for the well known halo instillations that have a bigger bang. What really has me thinking that is why that may be is of how the halo is designed to destroy all living matter within a certain range when it goes leaving nothing but sand and water because both are non-living elements.

      @@VADER06 Halos don't completely destroy everything, they are designed to wipe out all sentient life in the galaxy. This means that they kill of anything that the flood uses for food, and leave anything else such as plants alive, since the flood doesn't eat these.

      And I prefer the OG or Pre-Retcon Reach novel. When the Fall of Reach happened over hours and it was a brutal one sided massacre. With the only reason the Pillar of Autumn survived is because it almost immediately jumped out the moment the Covenant fleet entered Reach's orbital sphere and the novel version of MAC cannons did nothing. When the Human/Covenant war was like a bloodier (since civilians were not spared) Earth/Minbari war.

    maybe the stonework in sandtrap is a buried guardian. if you you look at 12:00 the glowing thing in the middle of the epitaph is bungies original design for a guardian. this is confirmed by one of rejected shotguns videos where he reconstructs what a guardian was supposed to look like and gets it confirmed by a bungie employee. now if you take the original guardian, lay it down, and bury most of it in sand it looks an awful lot like the map sandtrap. like this so more people can see!

      @@jared8019 I wouldn't waste a scholar's time on this nonsense when they could be out there deciphering REAL ancient texts. It's highly doubtful that a single game developer would have any advanced linguistic knowledge to create something that only a person with decades of in-depth historical background research could figure out. The dev sat at their computer and played around with a design program. If anything, as mentioned above, it's probably hexadecimal related as that's a language coders know. On top of that, looking at past ARG scavenger hunts, it could potentially also blend in a Caesar Cipher or read backwards. My other instant thoughts also remind me of old arcade game fonts, ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and potentially including a bit of brail. But this is all me reading into something that may not actually be there to solve.

  • @weskergutierrez9886

    For my point of view, it seems to be Mendicant Bias itself. Halo lore says that he was buried on the desert lands of the Ark, so if the subject here hints to be some “buried Guardian” definitely Bias is the most suitable for this mystery. Everything seems to be connected, the glyphs, the terminals communication with Master Chief, the intentional implication of some presence of Forerunner origin lying in Epitaph and of course his message in Halo 2 Mausoleum Suite, the community should relate that message with the Halo 3 glyphs that has been found on every Forerunner map so they can get any kind of connection between those. Something tells me that those glyphs can be some kind of code record for Bias sentence, and i would like to say that i always get a vibe of cemetery from Epitaph because of the middle structure which owns a remarkable aspect of a tombstone.

    @Rocket Sloth In the Halo Forerunner books there is a story about humans and a forerunner looking for the crypt (epitaph) of the Didact. The book describes the place as a sandy crater with sentinels (giant towers) surrounding the main building. The Humans and forerunner find a wall with inscriptions on it. When explore it more, they find it actives the revivification if the Didact as when a forerunner is exiled his or her body is preserved with minimal function. Sand trap could be the recreation of this cryptom!!! I hope I just solved this.

      It is surely Mendicant Bias, it has to be. He was entombed in the deserts of the Ark, plus the strong implications of a memorial to the/a guardian(s) on Epitaph. I just can only wonder what the glyphs could be about. maybe folks should seek a connection between them and the quotes from mausoleum suite? Mendicant was supposed to be in atonement while he was entombed and the messages in the song definitely sound like atonements. Perhaps the glyphs on his tomb and epitaph are his atonements immortalized, like a form of penance??

      Probably because this "easter egg" doesn't actually exist. It sounds like it was a single dev (not a team within the company) who created a fancy looking design that looked like a blend of an ancient yet technologically advanced typeface/font that didn't actually have any meaning or linguistic structure behind it. This whole (non) "mystery" is most likely complete gibberish aesthetics that this one guy is dangling a carrot about to get the attention of fans to fawn over his map creation. Smoke and mirrors. If something was actually put into the game, people would have found it by now or ripped it from the game's source code. It's not like Marty O'Donnell who legitimately put in a musical score for each ring you jump through to get the IWHBYD skull, where as obscure as it seemed, there was definitely something there; clues for fans to find and figure out. It seriously just looks like a repeating wallpaper to me designed to look like fictional "text", nothing more.

    It seems to me like (part of) Mendicant Bias was supposed to be buried there rather than a Guardian due to the giant towers that seem to be guarding the map, as if they’re trying to prevent something from escaping. Guardians are kind of free to patrol stuff in the Forerunner system (or were as of Halo 5, right?) but MB was supposed to be contained. An epitaph describing his rise and fall in Forerunner times against the Flood would be all too appropriate. That lore also fits with MB trying to communicate through the Terminals in Halo 3, whereas there’s really no lore in H3 regarding Guardians (other than the “Killed by the Guardians” in multiplayer).
    Also a side note, I never realized that the hologram in Epitaph is likely of a Guardian. I like that design much better than 343's. Why would the Forerunners design a giant bird?? lol

    I solved this a long time ago, but didn't post results because I didn't know good English...I was 14. Spoiler below.
    Anyway, the last two missing pieces to actually solving this is Campaign. Yep, this is a cross-Campaign-Multiplayer mystery.
    1. When accessing the Terminals, the symbols are then translated. You need to video capture and then slow-mo everything because they're translated twice. If I remember correctly, the Terminal that comes before the jet crashes is the most significant.
    2. The holographic Halo rings (that map where you kill the prophet of Truth) contain those texts as well. They translate too. I think the largest holographic Halo ring (Ironically, it's Zeta Halo where a piece of MB is located too xD).
    So no need to decrypt the texts, just cross-reference what is already translated.
    SPOILER:
    The translation just tells us how a piece of Mendicant Bias is imprisoned below there but that he "broke out". Eg. still in there, but the imprisonment effect is gone (explains why humans, and playable elites could enter Sandtrap, and how MB could communicate with MC).

    • @RedNomster
      @RedNomster 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know why your people are upvoting your post? The terminal text is called "Rectangular Type" text, and is entirely different than the sandtrap/epitaph text shown in this video. Even if the rectangular type did translate to what you're saying, it has no relevance or connection to the language in this video. It would also make it unlikely that it says the exact same message, meaning the sandtrap text is more likely not talking about MB

    I feel like the Halo Books seem to be connected to this very closely. Funny how I was recently reading them and watched this video and thought that Sandtrap remined me of the very scene in Cryptum where the young forerunner was led into this massive sand area encircled by a metal ring and tall towers by a small group of original humans which encapsulated the Didact. The area also had weird properties of it blocking signals and making people who venture into this area lose their way.
    Maybe Sandtrap did something similar to that regard? Holding a great threat and using it's technology to ward off people from the area.

    My theory is that the entirety of sandtrap is supposed to be a forerunner historical site transported to the ark from its original resting place. It's also probably a really important and ancient one, considering the large towers guarding it and the stone architecture used when compared to the metallic forerunner styles. My guess is that this is probably an ancient shrine or temple to the precursors, as the forerunners worshipped them.

    I cracked it guys. If you reverse alternating lines by vertical orientation and then horizontal, and then overlay them, you get a few distinct lines. The symbols making up those lines consist of a letter and a number laid over the top of each other. If you take these two, and draw a line from the letter to the number on an original oija board, the line always perfectly intersects only one other character. It took a bit to figure out the order from there, but only one configuration of the letters makes sense to me. “Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.”

    Lore-wise, it wouldnt make sense for Guardians to be buried under either maps. Why would they have sentinel towers on Sandtrap? Why would they have an epitaph on... Epitaph? The two maps are Forerunner tombs. Sandtrap is a tomb of an important Delta-Halo era Forerunner who probably held high importance within their civilization. I say Delta-Halo era because it is more ancient than the ancient metal structures, hence the stone. Epitaph on the other hand is the tomb of the Forerunner designer of the Guardians. Evidence: long scriptures of their achievements placed all around the tomb and the emblem of their creation being a clear visualization of the accomplishment of the individual(s).

    • @shauntempley9757
      @shauntempley9757 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Except, what makes me think Epitaph is a memorial to Mendicant Bias, is the musical tone that plays on that map while you are standing in front of the main symbol. It is in sequence with what the Guardians blared when activating in Halo 5. Sandtrap is definitely placed on the Ark, and is a spot where an ancient tomb is placed.
      The only tomb on the Ark is confirmed to be Mendicant's, since almost all the Forerunners fighting in the war died before the Array was fired. Then after that happened the Forerunner survivors on the Ark entombed Mendicant Bias as their last act before leaving the Galaxy altogether.
      Only the Didact sealed in his Cryptum on his Shield World of Requiem remained alive in the Galaxy once that happened, and it's sector of space was cut off from access by the Flood before the Halos was fired.

    So this might be nothing, but did anyone else notice that when the camera was orbiting the central underground pillar on Sandtrap, a few certain symbols glow a very faint purple?

    The real mystery though, what was the Aegis Fate doing there during the battle of the Ark?

      True, however I believe the lore explains that they discovered it and tried to do readings of the ruins. The lore is very vague and up for interpretation though.

    No matter how good the technology is or how much knowledge a species obtains, if and when they decode this message from the gods, it reads "you're doomed forever".

    im guessing its the da vinci code
    Edit: nevermind
    2nd Edit: the Da Vinci Code easter egg could be part of this

      the davinci code is just a texture holder for the AI that holds de torret of the guardians on sandtrap and the forgemap. Not a mystery anymore

    Anyone else remember that halo 5 advertising where chief wakes up a guardian in a desert type area, exactly saying that it's related to this directly but might be kind of hinting at the fact that on epitaph it shows a guardian being projected and by the definition he gave of epitaph there may be a damanged or destroyed guardian under the surface of sand trapped. This might be way out there though and not at all related.

    The sand and the towers in the perimeter make me think this is a Guardian tomb. The Halo 5 trailers also have Chief finding a Guardian in a desert

    It's crazy how games like Halo and assassin's creed have lasted all these years but games like fortnite only last two years

      Halo and AC are series, they have multiple games and lore outside of the games. Fortnite is a standalone game. There will be no Fortnite 2, but we can expect more Halo and AC sequels in the future. It is unfair to compare the two.

    • @Espartanica
      @Espartanica 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoredDucc If Fortnite could stand the test of time like Halo and AC there WOULD be a Fortnite 2. It is fair because Halo was designed to last and Fortnite was designed to take money from children

    This game. It’s been YEARS. Not a lot of games still get the same sort of TH-cam video content as this. Years old. No call of duty game no battlefield game no gears of war game, just the halo series. Madness. Thanks for the memories Bungie.

    My theory is that underneath sandtrap, there's either a Guardian, which would be kinda like "Oh... ok." after H5, or, an idea completely out of left field, a Precursor.
    I don't really know about that, but what else is in the "darkest part of Halo lore"? What did the Forerunners want to get rid of and bury? And what was the only other thing around when the Forerunners created their ancient stone architecture?

    It's awesome knowing that a game was popular years after it came, that's what is cool about halo, a new game every couple years
