These are basically a placeholder trigger. If you go into Serious Sam map editor, you will see a bunch of objects that you don't see during normal play, like script triggers, sound cues, etc. For some reason Bungie kept this 'Guardian' trigger visible even during the game (probably because you are not meant to actually get to that point on the map.
That was the most fun of Halo 3, trying to find different ways of beating the Guardians, overloading maps and placing obstacles in the way to guard yourself.
+Mackenzie Braden i already thought 343i were pretty bad. But this just confirms how they're ruining the series. (As if the microtransaction simulator that is halo 5 wasn't enough proof).
You have to admit they made Forge 100x better and multiplayer is more fun too...sure it might have micro transactions but guess what? Its called playing the game...and logging into Halo waypoint to get stuff for free...they also give stuff away regularly so please stop complaining!
Seaweed Games The mulitplayer is not better, sorry :/ But forge is nice though I have to give it that. Just the controls for it are bad. If they can give us the old controls, it will be so much better
There are actually a few of these inside 33 guilty spark when He is half destroyed in the boss fight. They are just default objects that the devs assigned properties to,in the case of sandtrap they fire a beam when the player is in a certain area, where the beam hits it spawn a mine (Though the beam does kill if you get hit by it) if sandtrap is overloaded the beam still fires but won't spawn mines. In sandbox they just fire the projectiles, and I think the ones in spark act as the physical location of his weapons and abilities. I wonder if the forge monitor beam (Hold the fire button when you press up on the D-pad to turn to the monitor and it briefly fires a beam) has one.
Splitting hairs here, but the spheres probably don't do anything other than serving as a reference for the location from which the beam should originate. There is probably a big trigger overlapping all of the areas in which they don't want you to go, which causes the code which fire lasers to execute, and it probably just uses whichever sphere is closest to the player.
Generalkid you are awesome i remeber the first video i viewed from you which was the halo reach forge glitches you are 1 of 1,000,000,000 why i love halo
This glitch is awesome!! I was wondering if you could get on the turret like you did in this video, and then have your friend get killed by the guardians. What it would look like in theater when the beam goes off?
Wow just watching this gameplay brings back so many memories. Back in its prime, Halo 3 was arguably the most enjoyable game out at the time. Will forever be a classic.
To your first point, you can't really argue against opinion. Your second one, most people questioned the implementation of sprinting so to even it out just a bit they had to add a drawback. Your third, the armor unlocks can be compared to Reach, just that they're random which I don't like either.
Buying your armour through hard work, makes your armor have actual worth, and unlocking armour through feats gives them even *more* worth.. If Req. packs are random, and give you whatever you want at random, then all the weapons are worthless, the vehicles are worthless, and the armour sets are worthless, as there is no challenge to achieve them, no rush to get the Sniper, or Scorpion... everything is absolutely worthless in Halo 5, which is why it's the worst preforming mainline Halo game in the entire franchise, right next to Halo 4.
The texture on the "eggs" is just a texture that's used in 3D asset development to test UV unwraps. The same textures can be seen on untextured models imported to ElDewrito (Halo Online) it's just the default texture the engine uses. The "eggs" are just untextured entities used to fire the beams. They were obviously misplaced on sand trap - with whoever made the mistake not fixing it because it was unlikely the player would ever see them.
So... If you go past a certain point, the eggs trigger missiles to go after you? That's what those missiles do? To prevent you from getting past? Can you get past naturally?
in halo 3 as shown here with a sniper rifle zooming in on the towers, since your checking easter eggs if you zoom in on certain parts of the tower you can find decals imprinted of somet of the rewards such as the manslaughter just above the light (if i remember correctly)
I remember seeing those faint projectiles every once in a while back in the day. I think bungie decided to poke at this with Sandbox by making the towers fire actual deadly projectiles at you directly when you go outside of the map
The towers used to shoot at you if you drove around the mine fields too long... so you end up trying to dodge them as well as not get blown up by mines... i miss hearing "Killed by Guardians"
Gerard Byrne its just a texture map When you assign uvs to an object it's easier to see where on the map certain parts of your mesh is , if it's eavenly proportioned and if there is any seams
Yeah its in the source codes for halo 2 and halo 3 as the base texture map, so if the game cant find a designated texture for the object (the object being the guardian, probably meant to be invisible) then it loads that texture.
cool thing is when I went on halo 3 after like 3 years the game said welcome back and it said I unlocked new armour and it was the recon I don't know why but it was really cool
It's funny how things like the forge editing rotation were so shit but the game was so good nobody gave a flying fuck. With all these new games they are picked apart completely and every flaw called out
What about the davinci eggs inside the little grav lift pillars on the midship remake? I think the map was called heretic, and if you use a turret to glitch through the grav pillars under the middle platform, you see the eggs.
Yep! You can add me on xbox if you want TaurineDippy. I'd be glad to be in a video if you'd like. I miss doing stuff like this. Just make sure you send me a message on there too.
Why do you keep calling things like this to be "easter eggs"? An easter egg is not something that is vital to an in-game function, as these "eggs" obviously are. An easter egg is meant to be found (eventually), but these aren't. As you said, they are there for the purpose of activating or performing functions that kill the player. The functions that do this rely on an entity to tell them to do so, so that entity needs a point of origin. That's what the "eggs" are, simply an entity used to perform a function. The strange appearance of them are due to the lack of texture. The player is never supposed to see them, so there was no reason for Bungie to give them a texture. That's why you see that default texture recurring in many places throughout the glitches in the Halo 3 engine, including ODST. Remember that large field that consisted entirely of that texture in the tank level of ODST? You reached it by going out of the map with a banshee? It's just a placeholder texture.
+Bler935 Well at one point they were indeed Easter eggs since no one knew if they had a purpose back then. They thought it was a literal Easter egg because it looked like one. That's pretty much the only reason why I still call it an Easter egg, because it looks like one.
***** If you're referring to me, then I think I could see how you might think that some of the things that I said were slightly harsh. I wouldn't agree, but you are free to your opinion. I meant no insult to Generalkidd at all whatsoever, and I only spoke as directly as I did because we have known each other for years.
I wouldn't be calling Halo Online "just Halo 3." The devs working on the eldewrito (I hope I'm spelling that right) version are trying to make it different.
Weesee They are but they are also listening to the community as well and a lot of the community want it to be like halo 3 and also this glitch does work and it doesn't. You can see the flash for a second in game but you can go in theater and check it out
There is no lore and nothing to explain, the sphere's are used to determine the location from which the guardian lasers fire. That's all there is to say..
I know this is gonna start a war in this comment section but it needs to be said... all 343 halo games are complete and under garbage and need every tiny shred of their existence to be eradicated from history
Content of these is very interesting, but god damn you're an awful presenter. Maybe try writing a script and doing multiple takes? One line at a time and editing? Not umm uhh ah COUGH COUGH
cool thing is when I went on halo 3 after like 3 years the game said welcome back and it said I unlocked new armour and it was the recon I don't know why but it was really cool
I miss the good times when halo 1,2,3 were popular
They were so fun ://
Sorata 96 who SAYS THAT HALO 1,2,3 AREN'T POPULAR. lost actually sniff sniff
I dont have an xbox one only an 360 so I have halo cea halo 3 halo reach halo 4 and thats all AND I FUCKING LOVE IT
Getting nostalic watching all these revisit videos.
I miss the good old days of halo :(
I'm still playing Halo 3
These are basically a placeholder trigger. aid
FatherlyNick your profile pic was the emblem of my old halo clans, different colors though.
>they took the guardians out on MCC
Wow 343, you people are boring.
QT Eila Why they did that???
That was the most fun of Halo 3, trying to find different ways of beating the Guardians, overloading maps and placing obstacles in the way to guard yourself.

Shanack you can do this on REACH too. It'll sound like one of the covenant laser gun (beam rifle?)

Holy shit I completely forgot about this!!! Man I thought stuff like this was on par with the 7 wonders of the world!
As always, if there's any old glitches or easter eggs you'd like us to revisit, let us know!
The nostalgia is great.

Generalkidd what about the curious George one?
Wow just watching this gameplay brings back so many memories. Back in its prime, Halo 3 was arguably the most enjoyable game out at the time. Will forever be a classic.
Halo 3 makes halo 5 looks like shit....
BARELY
To your first point, you can't really argue against opinion. Your second one, most people questioned the implementation of sprinting so to even it out just a bit they had to add a drawback. Your third, the armor unlocks can be compared to Reach, just that they're random which I don't like either.
+MISOGYNISTIC NIMBY (TMT!)
true but it's the same principle of buying armor with credits is what i meant
+Dan no... Rip

These things were like magical objects back in the day. Where everyone would go on strenuous quests to just get a glimpse of the unknown.
in halo 3 as shown here with a sniper rifle zooming in on the towers, since your checking easter eggs if you zoom in on certain parts of the tower you can find decals imprinted of somet of the rewards such as the manslaughter just above the light (if i remember correctly)
"It was a mystery what these eggs did til we figured out what they did"
Me:.....................................huh?
Hey I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. Halo 3 is my favorite game of all time!
What do the letters on the egg mean, is it some kind of code?
Wet Ricky idk
Wet Ricky that my good sir is the thing we have discovered ages ago and still don't know what it means
It's just a default material that is used when none are explicitly set up.
Lord Krythic i refuse to believe that, i want to believe it means much more than that :(
Lord Krythic childhood, crushed. :(
The codes pop up in other areas, not just this map.
Windows and halo. My favorite things.
Iv done very cool and fun things in my life but to tell you the truth, the days of halo 3s prime was the best part of my life
This... :/
I remember seeing those faint projectiles every once in a while back in the day. I think bungie decided to poke at this with Sandbox by making the towers fire actual deadly projectiles at you directly when you go outside of the map
What happens if you block them with stuff like put something in front of it for keeping firing on you
The towers used to shoot at you if you drove around the mine fields too long... so you end up trying to dodge them as well as not get blown up by mines... i miss hearing "Killed by Guardians"
xLionsxxSmithyx those giant birds in Halo 5? (jk)
Ah man this video is taking me back
Holy shit I remember this guy from like 6 years ago. Great times
So they're just placeholders? What's with the lettering and weird texture then?
Gerard Byrne I'm thinking that whoever made them either just wanted to mess with people, or it was just a texture he happened to have so he put it on.
Hamlet Enthusiast I'd like to think there was some more meaning to it. That's a bit disappointing
Gerard Byrne its just a texture map
When you assign uvs to an object it's easier to see where on the map certain parts of your mesh is , if it's eavenly proportioned and if there is any seams
Yeah its in the source codes for halo 2 and halo 3 as the base texture map, so if the game cant find a designated texture for the object (the object being the guardian, probably meant to be invisible) then it loads that texture.
Why are they called "da vinci code eggs"? What's the connection?
I knew eggman was behind the guardians ;-;
XGuNnR BoYzX the egg boi
I guess the towers/guardians (whatever they are) are the reason the map is called sandTRAP!
How does Generalkidd have 32k subscriber if there are only 1,032 people on the plantet? Fake accounts?
Is this some kind of joke
cool thing is when I went on halo 3 after like 3 years the game said welcome back and it said I unlocked new armour and it was the recon I don't know why but it was really cool
I remember when my friends and I would do all the halo campaigns on legendary, those were the times..
It's funny how things like the forge editing rotation were so shit but the game was so good nobody gave a flying fuck. With all these new games they are picked apart completely and every flaw called out
Probably because we have much higher expectations from these major titles, considering we all expect them to build off prior success.
What about the davinci eggs inside the little grav lift pillars on the midship remake? I think the map was called heretic, and if you use a turret to glitch through the grav pillars under the middle platform, you see the eggs.
Could you revisit this, and see what happens if you cover every single egg with a block, will the beams still reach the player
"it was a mystery for a while until we found out what they do.." Really?!
Can you revisit getting out of Sanctuary on H2?
i remember building a big tunnel thing out in the wild so i could get as close as those tower while still been alive XD
Wow, this kills my child hood imagination and theory's when I saw the original...
The texture was a placeholder they used in the beta when they didn't have textures for example the eod helmet
I didn't know what was firing them, but I noticed myself how the mines were getting tripped and I did it easily lol
Good shit mate! (TaurineDippy)
Matt Smart You're really TaurineDippy?!
Yep! You can add me on xbox if you want TaurineDippy. I'd be glad to be in a video if you'd like. I miss doing stuff like this. Just make sure you send me a message on there too.
Is there more of those eggs in any other maps or just sand trap
I wouldn't call it an Easter Egg. They have a purpose and weren't hidden...
Maybe the scarub gun in halo 3? Or maybe controlling the scarub
It took you this long to figure out this simple fact?
Special Beam Cannon, anyone?
Kevin Colbert DDDDOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDGGGGGGGEEEEEEE!!!!!
I tryed doing this on Halo 3 on forge but there's a invisible barrier.
good ol days
my right ear is lonely
I forgot about this one
It looks like a special beam cannon
Awesome

I meant no insult to Generalkidd at all whatsoever, and I only spoke as directly as I did because we have known each other for years.
Can this gitch be done on halo online because I saw that sphere like thing on that game
Most likely it can be, this map should be identical to the one on Halo Online. I haven't played it much myself but it's basically just Halo 3.
+Generalkidd I'll give the glitch a try and see if it works because one time I was able to stand on one of those spheres
I wouldn't be calling Halo Online "just Halo 3." The devs working on the eldewrito (I hope I'm spelling that right) version are trying to make it different.

Silent Arbiter They've explicitly stated they don't want Halo Online to be Halo 3 PC.
didnt explain anything or go into lore. just told what was obvious
#Halofollower
There is no lore and nothing to explain, the sphere's are used to determine the location from which the guardian lasers fire. That's all there is to say..
Ricky Johnson then its not really a super secret da vinci easter egg mystery then is it
can u block the eggs ? the death beam
Why did Bungie put such weird easter eggs?
i was on MCC forge and i wasn't shot by the beams on Sandbox.
That's because 343 removed the Guardians from Halo 3 Forge: th-cam.com/video/_SHaB1uKlJM/w-d-xo.html
+Generalkidd Ah ok thanks. :)
That's pretty sweet
reminds me of the tower from lord of the rings
Basically multiple Saurons
lol
The beam is a special beam cannon
how did he get up there
worth any gamer score?
Hay how can you do in halo mc guys
I know this is gonna start a war in this comment section but it needs to be said...
all 343 halo games are complete and under garbage and need every tiny shred of their existence to be eradicated from history
nuts
hey
These "revisiting videos" are just you trying to get more views.
JC Shark No, it is appreciation for the bungie age. Uncultured swine.
Content of these is very interesting, but god damn you're an awful presenter. Maybe try writing a script and doing multiple takes? One line at a time and editing? Not umm uhh ah COUGH COUGH
cool thing is when I went on halo 3 after like 3 years the game said welcome back and it said I unlocked new armour and it was the recon I don't know why but it was really cool
brennan lewis bungie unlocked it for everyone.
