  • Testing on a 2021 Troy Bilt 42Inch Bronco ride lawn mower. This method works for any lawn mowers that have square based bolts.
Specifically, this lawnmower has a 1/2inch square bolt.

Thank you, thank you. After hammering away on a combination wrench I had the same idea but thought I'd look around and see what other's were doing. Was surprised to see what looks a lot like my 2008 Yard Machines.
Trusty vice grips on 1/2" drive impact extension instead of union socket worked just fine.

Thanks! I thought I was going crazy to find a socket that fit.

Thanks! So that square is 1/2". I tried with my 3/8" extension and it was too small. I will order a 1/2" extension then, thanks again.

my 16mm socket is NOT snug at all. 15mm is too small and no english sizes work either

Would you mind sharing the tool links here for us? I struggle to find the 16mm socket bit. Thanks for the video!

Where did you get your 4 pt socket to remove the bolt?

16mm would not work for me. Neither would any smaller sizes
