But if you find in google maps or ask to taxi or bus drivers for a cheap traditional meal= almuerzo típico barato they will recomed to you good places with low prices; casinos and fondas are a popular option for many public workers to eat on mealbreak. A complete meal with refresh in Panamá is arround 4.00 to 8.00 dolars depending of ingredients. Soup and rice is the cheapest dish; other consist of rice, plantain, beans, spaguetti, meat, fish, pork, chicken, etc. On this restaurants(fondas) you build your "combo", you chosee what you want to eat and drink and pay for it. "A mini buffet" resumming.

We're moving there in just a few months, even though the sticker shock of just about everything in Panama was hard to get over at first. Fresh foods are the cheapest, but general groceries and eating out are actually much more expensive than in western NC. Land can be 10X the cost per acre. Construction is much lower though (and much better quality - everything is custom, and built to last), so it all comes out in the wash. Panama gives a whole new meaning to "quality of life" - people actually care about each other, and family values/social decency reign supreme there. Here, it's all about division and hate... and we're over it.

Minimum salary in Panama biggest cities are about $700 monthly and other cities are about $550/$600 and working at the major venues like the Panama canal it can go all the way up up, so yes things are not going to be as cheap as like in Colombia and Argentina to mention. But yes a lot of foreigners from other latin american countries immigrate to Panama for work, it has always being that way, not only retire's but retire's get the perks and discounts all over

You can pay 250k in Panama for a house that goes for 800k in a comparable area in North America or Europe. Medical care is ridiculously cheap. Retirees get discounts from15% to 25%on every single thing. 20 years of paying no property tax.Transportation: 35 cents per ride on the metro, 25 cents per ride on the bus, I could go on and on. If you are just visiting it is more pricey than places like Colombia. But expats live here. So why they chose Panama? Safety and prosperity. All those foreign workers in the fish market would agree.

Panama is not a good destination for passport brows. It might be too expensive just like Puerto Rico, so that’s why perhaps places like Honduras or Nicaragua might be better since it’s cheaper.

At 10:30 Min you keep saying they have to work on the beaches, that is not a beach to swim, that is a Malecon. Looks like you do not really have a perspective of the country. It is forbidden to swim on that part of the water, and it is near the Panama Canal didn't you see the big boats around? Ask the locals, ask the cab drivers ask the people in your hotel or the tourist guides were are the beaches, there are many nearby, but not in the middle of the capital of Panama and for sure not on the waters next to the Panama Canal.
