What's the whack on the horse for on dismounting? Pretty weird.
It's to indicate to the horse that a shift in weight (a dismount) is about to occur. I wondered about that, too. I saw the explanation in another video. I've fallen down the "rabbit hole" with these videos, I could watch them all day. 🐎❤🐎

It's to alert the horse that there will be a loss of weight.

Why do they hit horses when dismounting
It is a command to the horse to stand still while the Guardsman dismounts. The horses don't mind.... they know their duty is over for a while and they're going to get a nosebag on! ❤
It a pat of good job not a hit. Just ceremonial. They have given them pats to calm them when they are nervous too
What is wrong with the back hoof on horse. Holding off center.
Absolutely nothing. That's known among horse people as "standing hipshot", and is a sign that the horse is about as close to totally relaxed as they can get without tipping over and starting to snore.
