It wanted to make a Number 2 and eventually did so at 18:58.

I so miss being in the army. I served nine years as a Hussar. I am in my mid-70s, and memories of that time are sadly starting to fade. all I have now are regimental newsletters where "Lest we forget" tells me of friends I have lost. I too will be an addition to that list. We are forgotten soldiers, no longer of any use, and discarded by the government, we have served our purpose.
Sadly that is the fate for all of us. Only our immediate families will remember us, once they are gone we will be forgotten. For you though, every time we thank those who served you are included in our thanks, you aren’t mentioned by name but you served, you are and always will be one of those men, women and animals who have earned our gratitude and who we and those who come after us will remember. Working as a professional horse trainer and riding instructor for over 25 years, I totally understand the situation. No matter how many times you have been rehearsing and simulating this performance, it will be a totally different experience for 🐴 rookies when they are being put into the public appearance the first number of times. The riders don’t seem to be quite experienced as well which makes it even more difficult for the horses to stay relaxed. To me it’s always so lovely to watch these really strong animals, born with the instinct of fleeing whenever they get nervous about anything, being so kind and just searching for some confirmation everything’s fine from their riders ❤ please excuse all of my grammatical mistakes , I’m from Austria 😅 lots of love to Great Britain 🇬🇧 , all the citizens and the Royal Family 🙏🤗

Agreed. The male rider's stirrup and rein control is too timid, IMO. The other horse seems to be concerned about the bit, please correct me if I'm wrong. Both seemed to be calm during their inspection, as if they remembered their training. Young riders, young horses - they'll get it together quickly, I'm sure.

I was thinking the same, or they are the petulant brother and sister who annoy each other on long car rides: "He's on my side!" "I'm not touching you!"
Should have cut his losses and positioned the horse behind the obedient horse, instead of alongside. The crowd would have assumed it was correct.
They are egging each other on, tails, ears, heads in constant motion, such smart animals.

That horse is the most wonderful character! His poor rider must have been mortified but his mount gets 10 out of 10 for entertainment value.

looks like the reins are held a bit too tight which is why the horse keeps moving its head that way.
She’s a mare. My mare used to periodically have a brain wipe. Have we done this before? What’s standing still? Stand still over here ok? Who else is here? Am I supposed to be here? What are we doing? Have we done this before?😂

Two female horse guards together are bound to giggle at a situation.
That’s the best part when they don’t do what they’re supposed to do because you can’t do it every time you get to have fun and it doesn’t hurt anything . It’s still good no one gets hurt and everybody need to laugh 😹

These two horses are a riot ( not to their handlers) I saw this several times while in England on vaca It seemed some “loud mouth” would do anything to distract them which would get them antsy.These guards spend a lot of time being trained .these beautiful animals and it “ticked off” most visitors who were there to see how well bebehaved both animals and riders are. Some of the visitors actually tried to get a reaction but in the several times we went the never do .If you ever get the chance I’m sure you’ll enjoy by by I V bb hi no them.
Horses have stood still and put up with tourists long enough. Need a good gallop to stretch their legs. Don’t blame them 😂

Every once in awhile you need to take the time to dance and laugh. The horses obviously know this.
I went to the Lippizaner stables a few years ago. When one of the horses, described by the tour guide as a character, didn’t get a treat, he turned around and farted at us. It was hilarious.

@@MaxxsMummy, I’ve been a horse woman since teenage hood. I got to go on this tour via a river cruise I took 10 years ago. They are such beautiful (but small, actually) horses.

Actually the guy should not have been laughing but should have known that the dressing is bothering the poor animal's eyes and that is why the poor thing is bowing his head up and down!
I loved these 2 ladies trying to keep their horses steady. No wonder they were laughing Absolutely brilliant and Gorgeous Horses too.

@@fostecc The white guard is a woman, you can actually see her hair in a bun at the bottom of her helmet. Also, their jackets don't have the same flat look as the male guards - that's how you know the black guard is a woman, too.
Mind you, the uniform is not exactly meant to be feminine 🤷♀
@@fostecc both mounted guards are women, you can see their buns. The last two in the standing line were also women, as was the guard across the way.
Its difficult to keep a straight face at times for the Guards I`m sure, they had me giggling too!..Well done to both the Guards & Horses, they look fantastic.

What I love about horses is that they do not hold their comments back. I assume that little dump during inspection was his final comment on having had to wait so long!

some have a rider who can't control them and some haven't been trained very well either.

I live next to a private school which has a combined cadet force complete witha marching band. In first term it is awful, they sound like cats fighting, they are all out of tune and time and the officer is yelling instructions unfortunately not shut up. By St Georges day they are passable and are so proud of themselves marching down the road. @@trekkie_geek

@@sallygardiner7150 I loved them, the female soldiers are beautiful, the horses are a beautiful colour, the young soldiers are also very friendly to the public, when the other soldiers return I confess that I will miss watching them. They deserve all our respect and admiration.

@@flavialeonardomueller9767 " Perfect "??? I'd hate to see what you would call a bad parade . The gunners are not foot soldiers so need more training on foot for this duty as indeed do the horses . They were also a full ten minutes early for the 4o clock inspection by the officer of the watch .

😊Always good to see women participating as guards. Horses have personalities of their own. Obviously the "ants in the pants"one was showing his. The guard handled him well. They are magnificent horses.

Watching this from Southern California & laughing so hard through the whole thing, especially the final indignity - that magnificent horse pooping at the crucial moment of inspection! I’ll bet those guards couldn’t wait for it all to be over & collapse in laughter once behind closed gates!! Love it!❤️

Horses, and other animals, are just like kids, no matter how much you train them, they do have their own minds and act out at times. What made me laugh was the "salute" the horse gave the officer during inspection. Stuff happens.
What a show best one so far didn't find it boring with the dancing horse and smiling guards kept me glue till the end lol it was funny and entertaining 😄 😆

The lady gunner (on the horse) won everybody's heart during their weeks at Horse Guards. So lovely to see her trying to contain her laughter. I bet the two mounted guards were in fits as soon as they were in the guard room.
We've all had that feeling when you need to go. I just love the relationship between these guys and their horses. 👍👍👍

The "uncontrollable horse", was CLEARLY uncomfortable. Give credit to that horse for NOT OVER REACTING.
Loved when the horse was stamping his front hoof when the guard stamped his. That horse just did not want to be there. 😅. Even I was saying "JUST GET ON WITH IT! I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS TODAY"!

Think this was the 4 o’clock punishment, that horse probably thought I did my duty and didn’t gamble ore wasn’t drunk, and still can not go to the stables for doing what I need to do, now everyone has to see it so much for privacy ❤❤😂😂❤❤

I felt so sorry for those two female guards having to pose for so long with naughty horses (hey, they have their own agenda, don't knock it, lol). But that brown horse really was quite unsettled...
I hope that they are not reprimanded for giggling whist on duty, how could they not?
These are not naughty horses but I expect the flies were around because of the heat or they could be younger horses

This is so funny. When the sound of the trumpet went off - I thought - Oh No! What's the horse going to do now? Gallop off with the dear poor soldier holding on for dear life. God bless those lady soldiers those horses were like - No its my way today and when they both tried to stiffle their laughter, that made it worse, I was screaming with laughter. When the horse turned around as if to say - 'I'm off, I've had enough of this palaver and the lady soldier's face was scrunched up trying desperately not to laugh, if I were there, my loud laughter would have been heard at the end of the mall.
All the time that trumpet was going off- I was thinking- God!STOP!

It was as though both horses were having their own conversation- I'll nod.. You nod. I'm stuck so can't turn around, I've got the space says the one away from the gate - so I'll walk back and turn around and stare at the camera.
When the camera panned around, I couldn't believe how solemn everyone looked

Animals communicate when they are in discoomfort. I feel for them. So many hrs. without food and water standing still in concrete floors under the heat or rain is too much to bear. Beautiful animals.
When I saw the horse constantly fighting the bridle and sticking its tongue out and licking wondered if it was thirsty or not feeling good.
They only have a two hour shift, not that long!
@@foresthiker6707 totally agree, it’s not a petting zoo! OST of the riders have good training but some seem to lack confidence in their ability to control and protect their horse.
May I suggest doing some research , these are The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery usually seen pulling the gun and cannons carriages used in ceremonies . They work in teams each gunner handling more than one horse so extremely well trained . Here at Horse guards P they are tempo temporarily replacing the Lifeguards and Blues and Royals who are away on ceremonial duty and holiday . Each horse does 1 hour in the box then replaced .
I know nothing about horses, but that horse was mouthing the bit(?) a lot and stamping his hoof. Maybe discomfort? Couldn’t help feeling there was a problem.
Poor horses are getting mixed signals. The horse backing up because the rider is asking him to go forward too. He is pushing him forward with his hips and jabbing him with a spur. Both riders do not get out of the the horse’s mouth at a stop. It might look nice to have a tight rein. If the horses is telling you to tight that is not nice to then. It is cruel it makes their mouth hard they will not feel you give them cues. The switch tails means get the green riders off our backs. They really need to put only rider who know how to sit a horse on them. That female on the ground would have done a better job. She looked like a rider.

@@britbyname3620I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I'm surprised her back isn't aching. Her seat is appalling and her feet aren't in the stirrups properly either. Poor horse probably wasn't at all comfortable 😞
I think it is the same horse that would not get in line when it arrived from the barracks to horse guards field one of the first mornings. The girl riding had the same problem..that frisky horse doesn’t like to stand still beside in line ..wants to move forward following in a line. 😂❤it It is the sweet child that when in dance lesions does their own thing.

By pulling so tight on the reins is making the horse want to move backwards.
The nearer of the two horses has its reins held too tight. The pull on its mouth is communicating “reverse”, in my opinion. It’s battling the reins, rather than the standing still
“We need gallops around big green pastures before you ask us to look like stuffed toys, Dad!” “And get us our snaffle bits, please!” Hooray it’s over! Let’s poop where the head guards stomping his feet then trot them through the palace, Bro!” 😂

Best part was when they were being inspected and the main culprit thought, "yeah, here's what i think of all of this today", and tóok a dump....thats what made me crack up lol. Though on a more serious note, that beautiful pair just looked liked they'd had enough of standing around and of the crowds and just wanted a good run. I know that the horses are well cared for and are rotated regularly but i wonder how often they are allowed to let their hair down and blow off steam by going for a good run. You've got to admire their patience when dealing with the tourists.
It is very clear that the guard on the brown horse was giving mixed cues to the horse. Too much pressure on the reins kept the horse backing up, resulting in the guard kicking it to make it go forward again. Shake my head. Kudos to the horse!
