I find these tests very interesting. Thanks. Honestly though, nobody died back in the day from using the older bags, I think people are too cautious these days.

Please test the GV 3M Style Kirby Bags. I just watched a review that shows the air flow is better than a stock black hepa bag but does not show how well it filters. These bags are only $17 for 10.
yes I watched it, and definately appreciate it. But these were all Kirby branded bags. My thought is on ebay there are much much cheaper bags, like DVC, that may or may not give Kirby a run for their money. And we all want to save money, lol.
What are the best prices you've seen for a 6-pack? For the Kirby synthetics, I've nabbed a 6-pack for as little as $14 shipped, although I think lately more like $18 is the norm. How much money are you really saving?

For the most part, the paper bags generally start out at max or near max airflow, then clog very quickly with fine dust. The worse (thinner ply) the paper bag quality, the faster they clog. I only use HEPA in all my machines, including my early 1970's Hoover Convertible.
Recently Amazon has started selling off brand bags from companies named "Filterbuy" and "Zvac." I'd be interested to know how these would do particulate wise. I've been using the Filterbuy bags myself and they seem very similar in looks and construction to the genuine Kirby bags. Looks can be deceiving though!

john erikson it shouldn't change much, because the inner bag is doing all the hard work filtering. But don't get obsessed with zero readings as my open room tests prove, the particle count returns quickly back to initial conditions.

@mraaron1584 the charcoal bag collars rot. Don't buy them. I posted a video about this issue some months ago.
Vaclab, what does it mean by nominal CFM 75 on the first bag? Doesn't the unit expel 100 more cfm out the fill tube?
nowadays all Kirby sells are blue and green variants. have the newer green bags improved anything? what are the blue ones like?
Haven't tested the blue ones yet, so I can't say. I may order some in the coming months though.
What I’m wondering is how the airflow is affected with better filtration, if it is restricting it
Nope, not at all. And to top it off, the HEPA bags maintain higher airflow as the bag fills. It's a win-win.
If you want could you get the bags with the blue marking on the actual bag and do the same test? look at my video where I changed the bag on my Avalir if you want more information.
KG5Vacuums have you tried the charcoal bags? Overall, those appear to be the best when you include odor reduction.

When did Kirby switch over to the F type connector? My Sentria 1 has the F but my G5 don't.
My research says this change took place at the end of 2008.
with the bag zipped up, does the particle count make any difference? does it get closer to zero?

Yup. These series of tests show how well the bag filters the dirt and passes clean air back into the room.
