I've tried reading instructions on most things, these days I have been able to cross-reference a few videos to gather my results of interest. More times than my it a listed video, whether it be a back yard mechanic/gardener etc. or a white collar cooperate smug fink. As I mentioned 3-5 videos or reads to gather my results. This usually takes half an hour, even an hour. My interest was lost with all the unnecessary information/jargon in each source of media. This is a question that I've had for about 2 weeks. I had a minute so i figured that I would see if I could start my research on what it all takes to attached this belt. Figuring that id finally complete it around the end of next week. If I could find the piece of information retained by my information source. Your instructional video was outstanding. Very complete. Certainly the very first video that Ive been able to watch, even pause to follow your thoroughly explained instructional. Well done young man, there was no wasted wording, very articulate, and perfected guidance.
Best and easiest video ever! I tried the official Kirby video first and it was of no help. Yours was clear, concise, fun to watch and using your instructions, worked! Thank you so much!
I have a poor memory so I was on my Kirby app reviewing the proper way to put a new belt on my vacuum. My toddler grabbed my phone in the middle of the video that I had paused and this one started playing so I just let it go since it was about the thing I needed to see anyway. I have owned a Kirby Vacuum since 1999. My latest is the Avalir and I’ve had it about 3 years now. I do not ever remember learning about the numbers on the brush ends!! I could’ve learned it at some point and forgot but my mind was blown when I learned about it on this video. So thank you for being so “elementary” about this video. I needed it!
This is the best video on this topic! Period!! Thank you so much for your slow and explaining every step of the job. I need audio and visual tools. So this is my recommendation for changing your Kirby vacumn belt! Well done and saved this 62 yr old woman $45 to have someone else do it. Sincerely, Cindy Colwell
God bless you, sir! This damned thing (replacing the belt) makes me crazy every time. I will never learn the steps, so I have to rely on videos each time. Yours was excellent!
I'm echoing the sentiments of virtually everyone else in this comment section. Very easy to follow along with, good explanation of what all the little numbers were. Glad I did this myself instead of paying someone to do it for me.
Thank you sir! This is one of those things where you watch a video and do it once… then it makes sense from that point on. Just bought a $15 Kirby Sentria with missing belt and got it all figured out and running great. Thanks again!
I just have to tell you, that you just saved my life. Thank you so very much. My husband usually does this stuff and I needed to get this house vacuumed while he was at work and could not for the life of me. Figure out what to do with this thing. I had a belt I had a dead vacuum. I had no clue what to do. Thank you so very much for your video because you made it so easy and you explained it so well and my house is now vacuumed. I am feeling pretty accomplished here and that is because of your video. Have a wonderful wonderful day 🙏😀
Glad to help! You have no idea how many times I have been out of town and an appliance goes down in our home and my wife has to rely on TH-cam to fix it! Glad to return the favor and I know what you mean :)
After struggling for several hours and causing black and blue marks on myself from fussing with this weighty object, I gave up and went to bed. Next day I found this video. I had my machine right beside me as I followed along. Stopping it, reversing it, had the closed captions one. It was an event of true marvel. It is so true, people, the devil is in the detail, but this man in this video is an angel of mercy for all of us who have become despondent over our beloved Kirby taking a nose dive.
thanks for these videos, I know the sweetest old lady who was not privy to anything technical and used her Kirby brand new from day one until 18 years later and the roller never spun once because the belt was not hooked and installed properly, she was only using 10% of its suction potential from the motor intake alone and barely picking up anything but she thought it was working all along because no one ever told her or noticed. IS that funny or what? I almost became her when I got mine but these videos saved me.
Thank you for the more detailed explanation. Every other one was so quick it wasn’T actually showing how to set the belt before you put it on the unit. After an hour of frustration. I thank you very much
Every time my Kirby's vacuum belt brakes, I always look up your video and replace it. Thank you soooo much for posting and keeping this post still up and running, like my Kirby Vacuum Cleaner 😂🤣
Thank you for taking your time to show us all how to replace the belt. I miss placed my manual with instructions , again your video was clear to follow. Thank you again 🤓🤗👍
I’m half happy that you explained this clearly and helped me, half annoyed that this is not intuitive at all. Changed the head and had no idea why the rubber band was dangling there
Thank you , Thank you 👏🏾!! This vacuum was giving to me from my boss last year . She gave me a very BRIEF demonstration I mean real brief by showing me how to turn it on Lol 😂. I’m so thankful she gave it to me for free . I had no idea that I had it on the wrong setting the entire time thanks to you this video was Very helpful and straight to the point. Complete difference on how my vacuum sounds now. I normally don’t comment on many YT videos but I just had to say thank you for your help. 🙏🏾
I was having an issue watching the other videos explaining the belt part Even tho i did all the steps my light was still not turning green. I knew it had to do with the belt latching improperly before I attached it back on. For whatever reason I was missing a step on that part that the other videos didn't show. This video is great i appreciate how you explain everything step by step, thank you!
I was having trouble adjusting to the correct height with the foot control. It was either too high, and no roller action, or too low and very little roller action (which resulted in smelling burning rubber because roller wasn't turning). Watching this video informed me of the height setting on the roller, which I did not know. After putting on new belt (while somewhat cumbersome, but very simple to do), and setting roller at 1, it now works like a DREAM. I love my Kirby, and yes, Gene Myers, one belt does fit all. My mother's Kirby of 20 + years is still going strong as well Excellent video, thank you.
Awsome video...i was changing a belt and tried kirbys video 1st...after following it 3 times the vaccum still did not work....frustated i came to this site...watched it...and discovered kirby had ommited a final crucial step which this site instructed you to do...thx for Your expertise....vaccum running great now thx to you.
Thanks for the video I bought a used Kirby for 20 bucks took it home and found out the brush didn't spin! Belt wasn't on but it was in with the tools popped it on and BAM good to go.
Your tutorial videos are the best I've seen. Thanks so much for posting them. I watched 2 of them today (one for getting the vac to start and this one). Fixed me right up with my Kirby!! Thank you!!
Great tout. thanks heaps. We got an old kirby 1980s vac second hand for $70 and it runs rings around our $900 dyson. Definatly seperior for picking up pet hair.
Very helpful video! My old belt burnt out and broke, stunk like a@#. I ordered some new belts online but didn't know how to install them. This was just what I needed, thanks!
Great video!! Thank you!! I didn't have to look for my owners manual, and I was able to put it on myself!! Thanks to you and your awesome video!! Thank you!!😊
I bought an Ultimate G in 2002 or 2003, for a ridiculous amount of money… $800 I think? 21 years later… still works, and it’s been used. Frankly I haven’t used it for a while and the beater was sticking bcuz the belt was stretched out. New belt, new HEPA bags, works great. Your video helped bcuz I had no idea the beater setting 1, 2, 3 meant anything. And, been so long since I changed a belt I forgot how. I ordered some replacement HEPA bags, and first went to Kirby site, but they wanted about $6 per bag. Warnings about non-Kirby fake bags sent me on a search for bags, online, which range from $2 a bag on up. The bags I have seem “good enough” and are packaged & labeled as if Kirby authentic at $3 bag, maybe an authorized retailer? But idk. They do not seem as high quality as the last set a few years ago. So, definitely $2.50 a bag, would love to know more f they’re legit.
Hi Very easy to follow. My question is when not using the vacuum, do you have to change to 'Belt Off' or can you still leave it on 'Belt On' position......Kind Regards, Bev.....
This is the second video I watched trying to figure out how to do this task. Your video mentioned the numbers are for the type of floor vacuuming and the way you explained taking the belt off and putting back on with green and red indicators made more sense. Thank you so much for your valuable video. I have some vacuuming to do! 😉
I'm confused a small bit. @ 8:40, you say this same concept applies for purpose of attaching the "hose" to the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner ... (@8:51): "... and your new hose can be installed as well" ... Which "hose" are you referring to in this video?
I am still having trouble with the belt. It won’t catch and when it does it will not go all the way back and line up to the green arrow. It comes almost al the way and stops bc the belt is pulling on it. Very frustrating because I’ve tried to redo the steps and no green light ! Please help
The drive shaft of the fan belt gets very hot. There is no heat if the fanbelt is in the off position. Thought it may be due to the carper brush bearing. A new carpet brush did not resolve. Note, the wheels are in the high position with no brush contact with the floor. Is this normal?
I must have a very ancient Kirby. My roller assembly is nothing like in your video. On mine the grill must be assembled to the roller assembly first, then adjusted with two very hard to reach adjusting screws only accessible with the roller assembly removed from the head. Then insert the roller assembly into the head and it's the grill assembly and belt tension which holds the roller assembly in place. The grill just loosely snaps onto the head, then the remainder of attaching the belt to the motor spindle and head assembly to the vacuum assembly is in principal the same as in your video, but there is no lever, its just a square logo plate that turns. And there is no decal flat available showing belt on or off. But there is a little round plastic window in the center of the logo plate where you can see if the belt is properly on the motor spindle (if its not caked with dirt and dust). Just thought I'd share this for others who have ancient or commercial Kirby's. And the "universal" dust bag does not fit my Kirby. It's supposed to fit an "F" style and a "twist" style, whatever those are. Apparently my Kirby is not either an "F" style or "twist" style. No idea what model it is.
My understanding is that the I, II, or III setting on the brush roll is to compensate for wear of the brushes. A new brush roll should be installed in the #I position. As the brushes wear down, you would change to II and III. These numbers have nothing to do with how plush the carpet is. That is what the foot adjustment is for.
What do I do? When I try to get my belt lifter to turn all the way to red before attaching head to machine. It grinds to a hat and will not turn! Can't go any further. Please help me!
Great video. Thanks. Honestly, I got this vacuum from my dad when it got too heavy for him to maneuver. I'm not impressed. I don't really want to go out and buy a new vacuum but this thing is a pain in the neck to use- heavy, belt breaks all the time and not necessarily better than anything else I've ever used. I imagine that everyone watching this video already has one but if not, don't buy one.
I just bought this kirby from someone that was moving with all attachments, was playing to get familiar with the kirby, now I turned it on to vacuum and smell rubber, is that normal? The light is green?? Please help. Appreciate it!
My Kirby G6 nozzle bumper is leaving black marks on our base boards. Is there a fix or upgrade bumper for this problem?? Thanks for all the great Kirby vids! You save us alot of $$$$$$$$$!!
I am a senior citizen that never put any belt on any vacuum. I DID IT. Thanks, you are a Great instructor.

I can't imagine why someone would not like this video. It is great! Very helpful. You pointed out everything. Thanks so much!
I’m sure they don’t like the salesmen aggressive tactics, not the video.
Best and easiest video ever! I tried the official Kirby video first and it was of no help. Yours was clear, concise, fun to watch and using your instructions, worked! Thank you so much!
Thank you very concise

This video was very helpful for me to replace a broken belt. I started it without instruction and got stuck; this video saved the day! Thank you!!!
That was a wonderful explanation. I’m a small 77 year old woman and thanks to you. I was able to do it. 🥰
Thank you sir! This is one of those things where you watch a video and do it once… then it makes sense from that point on. Just bought a $15 Kirby Sentria with missing belt and got it all figured out and running great. Thanks again!

This is most definitely a top notch complete video of how to, very professional, he explained how and why on almost every step. Thanks

Ok, you just help keep me from throwing my Kirby on the local railroad tracks! LOL ... thank you for this great video!! 😊
This video was very helpful even in 2021. Never had to replace a vacuum belt in my life til now and it was easy thanks to this video.
Thanks for the video I bought a used Kirby for 20 bucks took it home and found out the brush didn't spin! Belt wasn't on but it was in with the tools popped it on and BAM good to go.

Awesome instruction!
Thanks, dude- replaced the belt on my landlord's Kirby and scored some major points, I.E rent reduction for the next 3 months!!!
Very nice!
Great video, got the old Kirby back online. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much!!! I wouldn’t have been able to assembly mine back together without your help!

Thank you
Very, very helpful. I did it once and problem solved. More power to you guys!!!
Brilliant, dear boy! When the wife sees what i just did she may even be happy with me! Thank you.
Very helpful video! My old belt burnt out and broke, stunk like a@#. I ordered some new belts online but didn't know how to install them. This was just what I needed, thanks!
Thanks for the video, had my kirby for years and learned something new. Thanks a bunch

Thank God for this video. I was about to throw the vacuum out. TYVM!
I was almost in tears - as I am every time the belt breaks.
Yes i think im finally throwing this thing out after 20 years. Sick of this belt situations
Thank you, I always forget how to change the belt.
I’m keeping your video for future reference
Thank God you make it easy for someone that had rather not mess with it! 😂
Thanks so much!! Mine was stretched out..now I feel like I have a new vacuum!
Thank you so much! I followed your instructions to put the belt on and, walaaa!!! WORKS!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I love this machine. And this made it all very simple.
We just ordered this model from you guys. Thank you for this awesome video, I'm excited to get started!
This was the best video for my Kirby. Thank you!
Great video..well explained mate...best regards from AUSTRALIA.
The best demonstration! Thank you!
Thanks man you saved me a trip to the Kirby store 😭
Nice fast and easy instructions, that the way I like it thanks so much
Thank you!! It was very helpful
Great job explaining sir!
Hi Very easy to follow. My question is when not using the vacuum, do you have to change to 'Belt Off' or can you still leave it on 'Belt On' position......Kind Regards, Bev.....
Nice to the point, Excellent, Thanks
Can you make a video of how to change the belt from the carpet shampoo system? Pleeeeeaaaase
THANK U...U helped me get the new belt on💪❤️

Beautifully explained. Thank you so much.
Thanks, clearest instructions I've seen yet! Thanks.
Thank you, Thank you, thank you so much and God bless you. It was so easy and I love my Kirby. Everybody should get one.
I'm confused a small bit. @ 8:40, you say this same concept applies for purpose of attaching the "hose" to the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner ... (@8:51): "... and your new hose can be installed as well" ... Which "hose" are you referring to in this video?
We were referring to the tool hose
got a kirby for 20$ had no idea I was buying a vacuum of such high quality
This was so helpful, thank you!
I am still having trouble with the belt. It won’t catch and when it does it will not go all the way back and line up to the green arrow. It comes almost al the way and stops bc the belt is pulling on it.
Very frustrating because I’ve tried to redo the steps and no green light !
Please help
me too! i hate this vaccum. Ive had it 10 years and paid too much for it. putting the belt on shouldn't be so difficult!
finally decided to put it on Level 2. I think the belts are not made to be pulled to Level 3 on the rollers.
Mlnluu
This has been a great video. Thanks so much for your help!
Thanks!! Super easy with your instructions!!
Is there a substitute belt I can buy? I desperately need one today. I have an open house on Saturday and my belt Burt off.
Thank you! Fixed with your help!!
The drive shaft of the fan belt gets very hot. There is no heat if the fanbelt is in the off position. Thought it may be due to the carper brush bearing. A new carpet brush did not resolve. Note, the wheels are in the high position with no brush contact with the floor. Is this normal?
Excellent instruction!
Do easy thanks to this video!👍🏻👍🏻
Does the G4 shampooer fit the G6 model?
Thanks for the comment. Yes a G4 model shampooer should fit a G6 model.
@@GreatVacsCOM thank you very much!! Just bought g4 accessories and was scared they wouldn’t fit my gSix 💯
Fixed my problem. Thank you
What do I do? When I try to get my belt lifter to turn all the way to red before attaching head to machine. It grinds to a hat and will not turn! Can't go any further. Please help me!
Great video. Thanks. Honestly, I got this vacuum from my dad when it got too heavy for him to maneuver. I'm not impressed. Wat would stop the power from coming on
Omg thank you so much. I did it!
I just bought this kirby from someone that was moving with all attachments, was playing to get familiar with the kirby, now I turned it on to vacuum and smell rubber, is that normal? The light is green?? Please help. Appreciate it!
Thanks very helpful I really appreciate it
Thank you.... u made this very understanding. Every other video I watched I was lost🤷♀️
Absolutely brilliant thank you x
Where can i get the belt
My Kirby G6 nozzle bumper is leaving black marks on our base boards. Is there a fix or upgrade bumper for this problem?? Thanks for all the great Kirby vids! You save us alot of $$$$$$$$$!!
Excellent video. Your instructions are very easy to follow. Thanks!
Thank you
Thank you soooooo much. I was struggling for a while there. You explained it beautifully
I thought the 1/2/3 brush setting was for adjusting as the bristles wearing down.
Excellent explanation👍
Thanks it helped me a lot.
Are kirby belts all the same sizze ?
Yes, one belt fits all on this type of vacuum
Thank you for your help!
