In your great video, I found encouragement for my new Litter-Robot purchase. My dynamic cat duo seemed intrigued by it today as I set up the Litter-Robot. The cameo performance of your young cat, an old pro, enhanced your useful demo of how to change the bag and what to watch for in regards to the reset button. Thanks for sharing your experience with the great Litter-Robot!
The poop is sticking because 3mins is too short of a time. You need to let the poope harden before it cycles. Why needs to sit longer between the cat pooping and the machine cycling
Better than the promo videos from the “Litter Robot” site! So glad the Costco bags work, that’s one less thing to pay a premium for and helps on my purchase decisions. Just ordered their “Feeder Robot” t replace my now 5 year old auto-feeder that broke so I’ll get a feel for this companies quality too.
Hello, considering on buying this for my Honey kitty. It looks like it works real well.Thank you for showing how it works, and glad your kitty is enjoying it.Be well there you all.😘🐈❤👌
Although this looks really cool I'm not sure it's worth 500 dollars. If it breaks, will someone be cleaning out the litter box in the meantime? I had 2 cats and had a manual litter box I cleaned out twice a day. Used a litter genie which worked wonders. This device would be cool if you went away for a long weekend. No worries about cleaning out the box.
Hes got some gorgeous marking! The one thing that worries me is the holes where it scoops away are large so will the pieces that fall off the clumps will be left in the litter, which is something I cant stand when I scooping with a scooper I pick every bit up and off the litter box so the cat dont step on them! If I ever get one I own a special scooper with very small holes that can take away the smallest of smallest bits of pee or poop that get tbrough a regular wider scrooper..Thats what I would want to do when I get one. Do you think that will be happening much? What kind of bags are you using on the video?
I completely understand your concern... which is a concern I had as well. It really isn't that much of an issue... I have seen some little clumps here and there, so I'll run a cycle and it takes care of the clumps, but for the most part they get sifted out. You can actually use any bags... probably even standard grocery bags, yet I have been using the febreeze kitchen bags from Costco. I change the bag once a week, and it's probably about 1/5 full. I take out the other trash in the bag also so less wastage.
I get the litter (they only have 1 brand) and the Kirkland white trash bags from Costco. I had gotten the febreeze bags, but didn't think we needed it later on. Mine is in my laundry room, so sometimes I'll throw a dryer sheet in the bottom drawer of its cycling while I'm in there just in case. I don't notice a smell from the bottom of the robot... only when there's a "fresh delivery" from my cat. Maybe try that and see if it helps?🤷🏽♀️
@@experimentalfunz8123 Thank you! Im currently keeping everything in my room, quite small and not much room to move, im going to try to stick a deodorizer in there as well🥲, no complaints aside from that though, i think some of the stool might not have dried fully from when i first got it so
Where do you put new litter? This may be a dumb question lol. But do you just put it in the whole unit itself or is there a compartment it takes it from?
No dumb questions here. 😁 I actually just scoop up new litter and put it on top of the existing clean litter. Whenever you do so though... make sure you press and hold down the reset button until it flashes twice, that way the robot knows that's the new weight... and anything else would set off the "needs to be cleaned" sensor. I hope that helps.
Whos going to crawl in there and clean it? Cats need multiple litters, even in the same room. one for #1 and the other for #2. Sometimes when my cat is in heat she pees alot so i put a 3rd litter for those weeks. Clean you cats litters once or twice a day. doesnt need to be messy, doesnt need to be dusty, shake the litter box a bit and move the stuff to one side, cascade through the pile with avalanches and clear out the litter at the bottom to continue avalanching. when you see a clump starting to emerge, scoop it out. This reduces dust and I do the for litter #2. #1 litter is easy because the clumps are on the top and a small tilt and scoop and its done. This way, the pee and poo dont end up on the sides or bottom. Stays much cleaner. Cats are happier. Or spend $500 for the coolest gadget that will impress your friends. Its arguably easier to manage. Jetsons envisioned cat litter
I am considering buying the litter robot but the comment on tall cats hitting their heads with dirty litter box concerns me. I have two large rag dolls and prefer open litter box(sides are high). Can anyone comment if this is an issue?
@@julieshaw6316 According to the manual the height inside is 15"-17" depending on the litter height. I just measured my cat and he's about 15 inches (I see what you mean about the measuring tape.) Then he laid down on the floor. 🤦🏽♀️
There's a button that says "empty"... when you press that, the robot rotates and dumps out all the litter that's inside. Once it's empty, I use wipes to clean out the inside. If you don't want to empty out the litter, you can also run a cycle and once the robot is in position with the clean litter separated out, you can clean the shell at that time. Orrrr... you can take it apart and give it a good scrubbing. 😁 I hope that helps.
What issues are you having with it? Make sure the sensors are clean. If you add too much litter, it tends to stop in the middle of cycling and the orange light flashes.
That's actually quite interesting. Might be more environmentally friendly to dump the tray contents into a bag of trash that's already full anyway rather then use a bag just for this. The only issue could be the smell since I currently use the febreeze bags.🤔 Maybe with a dryer sheet? I'll try it as soon aa I can find a foil tray that will fit. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍🏼
One Litter Robot should be sufficient for multiple cats. The frequency of emptying out the bin and adding fresh litter would be more often with multiple cats then with a single cat though.
It takes me about a minute and 15 seconds to scoop 3 litter boxes. And 2 of these 3 are medium concrete mixing tubs measuring 26" x 18", much larger than typical litter boxes. So twice a day, I spend around 2 and a 1/2 minutes scooping. For me personally, I don't find eliminating 2-1/2 minutes of scooping a day worth $500.
For me, I look at it less in terms of time I lose from my day and more in terms of time I don't have to do something that I find pretty repulsive. Also, when we're away from work or sleeping we don't have to deal with opening the door to a stinky apartment. Though it also depends on personal finances, of course. I have a good job in a low-cost area so I am fortunate that I am able to allocate the funds to this sort of thing. For most of my adult life up until this point it'd be much harder to justify.
I am like that kitten: Mesmerized by automation. Not owning a cat presently, but if I did I would go for the Omega Paw or a sifting type where you stack 3 trays. @@STARDRIVE I tried a sifting tray, and unless you store the grate in the second tray, litter sticks to it. But if you do use it that way,, you have to lift a heavy litter box full of litter and pour it thru the grate. Scooping is physically easier. If I was going to pay $500 for a self cleaning litter box, I would want more than an 18 month warranty.
I've had 2 litter robots over the past 10 years. The reason is, I am very busy with work, including travel for work, and often don't take the 10 min or so to deal with stinky litter box scooping daily. With the litter robot, there is very little odor at all, telling everyone I own cats, as soon as they enter my house. I also bought a reconditioned one, for the second one, so slightly less expensive. Also the waste being all in one MANAGEBLE bag makes taking it to the trash much easier, instead of the bigger bag I need to use when I don't get to the scooping everyday with 3 cats. I also use much less litter with the robot, which I didn't expect. This is not for everyone, but for those who need the convenience due to work/travel schedule, and hate smelling like they own cats before visitors even see the cats themselves, and HATE scooping but LOVE their cats - it is a Godsend!
I have to agree. I've had people come over who are suprised to find out that I have a cat when they come over. That was our biggest hesitation before adopting... that our house would smell like a cat house, but you're so right... it lessens the initial shock to the nostrils. 😁
