I'm surprised they never had a diesel option in North America.
Well the Cherokee (XJ) had the 2.1 Renault J8S for awhile the Wrangler as far as I know never got one, it might've here in the UK and Europe but I think they've only just starting getting them in NA in the last 10 years or so.
Our 1995 RHD Jeep Cherokee here in Scotland had the 2.5 VM Motori 425 Turbodiesel which I know it had it's problems but it was generally regarded as a decent Italian diesel in it's day, why the American's never took advantage of the extra fuel economy of it I'll never know probably because petrol was soo cheap.
Yeah we had some 4 liter petrol's too and I know that's widely praised as a bomb proof and powerful engine but it's just something that NA never really managed to shake off hating diesels after the poor GM/Olds 350 diesel mess.
By the way great video really enjoyed it.

When buying a used Wrangler are any Jeep inspect the trailing arms for the rear wheels. Many times these are rusted out and will cost you over $3,000 to have replaced. Take it to a reputable mechanic, put it on a rack and look for the rust. Chrysler Corporation who made these models did not design weep holes to allow water to run out of the arm. Good luck.

David Roy I just payed $3500 for a 97 sport with 128k miles. You have to be ready to buy with cash in hand. I use Craigslist and search the whole state, use all nearby areas. You have to be the first one out there. I've seen many great deals go within 12 hours of the ad being posted. I contacted the seller with 20 minutes of him posting it on a Wednesday night. I was there at 9am the next morning and bought it. 3 hour drive but totally worth it. Just know what you want and when you find one jump on. Also, look for rust. Thankfully we don't have the problem as bad in the south.

Highly informative.... Now I know how to car for my TJ Wrangler 1997, 4.0L automatic transmission. I need some info on Grand Cherokee, Laredo 4.0 L manual transmission.

and now FCA doesn't even include a full manual with a new Wrangler. you have to either download the PDF yourself, or call up FCA Customer Service and request a full manual. it takes 4-6 weeks to receive. inexcusable

Well this was surprising to see, I have a 98 sport and half of the features that I see on the jeep in the video are non existent or are a much older version.

Can you imagine trying to put that soft top up on the side of the interstate in the pouring rain with trucks flying by at 70 mph?

Wished I had found this video earlier. Bought a TJ yesterday and it took several hours to figure out how the soft top worked. Didn’t help that half the brackets were broken or rusted off 😒
