I have the same issue going on. Changed ribbon cable 2 times, changed cut carrige sensor, change cut carrige board still says invalid id right pos. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
The problem is that he had the 'left' edge pinch roller in the center. Notice how it paused in the middle as it went over it but it never paused on the very far left side? Invalid left pinch roller was the message he got. He simply had the wrong pinch roller in the left position. Swap the pinch roller on the very left edge with the one to the right of it and his problem would have gone away. You can verify this is true by how the tool carriage paused over the very far right pinch roller.
the end pinch rollers don't come out its only the centre 2 pinch rollers that come out , i have the same problem and just trying to find out it could be to do with the encoder strip
Went through the same procedures, but the best we can get is 0mm media width reading....
The problem is in the flat cable cut car,I had the same problem and so I solved it by changing the cable cut car,Good luck.
Had this issue a couple month ago. it was the ribbon cable. There was no visible signs of wear, the wires inside just wear over time.

When mine did this, I just installed a new ribbon cable, not the encoder.

Change the flat cable of the clipping cart, but first clean the sensor behind the cart.

The problem is in the flat cable cut car. I changed cable and finished the problem.
My Roland SP540V only came with 2 pinch rollers (Ones with wheels) So altogether it has 2 with wheels and 2 metal ones. Is this right?
