How long is the head print life, before a really need to change it, and like how much is the cost of the print head ?

I used work for Roland, and the secret is.. you CAN touch the surface of the head, 100% safe.. We used to do daily repair and cleaning using cleaners such a (Windex mixed with alcohol)
We tell people do NOT touch of the surface of the head because we want you to spend some MONEY and send your Roland printer for repair.. that''s all!
Just think about it.. the print head is always WET and made of stainless steel.. how bad can be touching the surface of the print head using cleaners??.

+hemidesign I have a similor issue here. My printhead has been replaced for already two times. I don't print daily, but my printer is Always on and I do a regular cleaning. Nevertheless, after a while the print result is not as good any more.
They have told me several times not to clean de surface of the head. Can this be done with the cleanig fluid I have from Roland?
      Kind regards, Jo

I just had a printhead replaced. Roland tech told me never to order from China because the voltage is different and can ruin my main board. I do not think I believe him since everything is made in China anyway. I can save almost 350 bucks on the cost of a Roland. I went with the Roland anyway until I can gather more proof that buying from China is safe for my printer.

I used to be a roland tech then I started printing for myself. I've installed many chinese heads for my current customers and there are no issues. Just make sure they are solvent heads not water based.

After a black/cyan head replacement the head is 'too high' but I can't slide the head. It's like it's stuck or locked, but I can't find any locking screw, so maybe hardened ink, but dare not force it for fear of doing damage, anyone have any suggestions (sp300)

He is definitely wiping the top of the head at 2:00 not the sides.
Roland tech told me never touch the top of the head for any reason.

DO you know what is in the cleaning solution? We have one and I am considering using Acetone

At 2:00...regardless of what the producers of this video are saying...that swab is wiping the the bottom of the print head because you can still see the right side of the print head while he's doing. I only wished I could attach a screen shot to show it. Touching that part of the printer is a no no.

+Ned Bately did you ever think what happens to the heads when the dirty squeegees wipe the heads ??? do they blow air on the head or wipe it ???? it is perfectly safe to wipe the heads from the bottom with a piece of soft cloth....

@@Levelupdigital Hahaha. I was told the same thing: to never touch the actual nozzles with the foam swabs, when cleaning the perimeters of the printheads. What you are saying about the wipers makes total sense.

At 2:00 he is definitely scrubbing the top or printing surface of the head.!!!!
I have been told to never clean the top of the head.
