Thanks for covering this. I hope you have a companion piece on the site still visible under the YHA that backs onto Gloucester Street. Grace Karskens' book 'Archaeology of a Neighbourhood', that focusses on this site, is a must-read for any person interested in The Rocks.
Great Sydney history there... love exploring the Rocks but never knew these were here.....the movie "Playing Beattie Bow" was filmed around the Rocks precinct.... is the multi story apartment block featured in the movie where the main characters lived, still standing.....
Have you seen the long abandoned Eurama Castle Estate in Faulconbridge here in the Blue Mountains? It’s amazing but of course in the majority vandalised. “Ask Roz” has a very informative blog about Eurama.
Great video. I've been fascinated by The Rocks ever since I read "Playing Beatie Bow" many years ago. I'm surprised how quiet it was when you visited! Looks deserted.
How many times have I been to The Rocks and never even seen this. Next time I'm in Sydney this is definitely on my agenda. Thank you
It's been a long time since I've visited there, but it's been on my list for some time. It's great that you've started uploading regular videos xx
Love your work, mate 👍
Fascinating. Not many places in Sydney I haven't been to, but this is one of them. Must throw it into one of my city walks.

I come here every time I go to Sydney, been going since I was a kid. Every time I go, I never see people there. It’s definitely well hidden.

Awesome video! Well done Phil, showing the history of Sydney frozen in time.
Edit: almost frozen.
There must be some photos of these places standing in their full glory back in the day somewhere!?
'Inside the Rocks: Archaeology of a Neighbourhood' by Grace Karskens is the definitive source IMHO.
Not the same anymore back in the day it was a much more better with all its old shops the vibe has disappeared and its old charm feel
Great Video Mate, thanks for this .... Scheduled Shared.
Wonder if the trees are the original ones
Demolished for Sydney Harbour Bridge?
Could have been. Or could been part of a general slum clearance program.
