I think the issue is not that we didn't understand where he came from, but how much people preferred the version from Under the (Red) Hood. In the comic and the movie, the plot twist (?) was that Jason never held a grudge against Bruce for not being able to save him but for not avenging his death (probably unaware that Batman tried, but comics don't want to remember that part). So it became a battle between an unwilling father and unwilling son, trying to convince each other that their way is the correct one. Jason, in particular, only wanted Batman to just compromise on his code for Joker but Batman didn't even want to do that, which further fractured their relationship. To me, that was brilliant writing to illustrate how even after Jason turned out to be alive, Bruce still couldn't save him. Arkham Knight gave reason to why Jason is acting this way, but sacrificed the intrigue of their conflict in Under the Red Hood. Jason siding with the criminals to kill Batman is just not interesting to me. For a game series that got the character of a lot of these comic book characters right, we at least expected Jason's iteration to be on point too. Then again, who else is he supposed to go after since Joker is dead? I kinda wished they didn't make Arkham Knight's identity be Jason. He was already playable as a DLC with his own story mode so I think people would have been content if he wasn't the main antagonist. At best, he could have played the same role as the other Bat Family members did. Him going after Harley or some other villain with the aid of Batman where they work together as unwilling teammates and clashing over how to deal with criminals and/or working through their problems would have been great to see. Even if Batman couldn't get Jason to change his approach on crimefighting, him and Jason resolving their issues before Batman fakes his death would have been a nice culmination of their relationship. But here, it's just villain Jason that didn't even have a good boss fight. It doesn't help the fact that the story of Arkham Knight made it very obvious that Jason was Arkham Knight from the get go, not even letting us get shocked. The comic made Red Hood's unmasking shocking and while the animated movie didn't, it made his motives be the most appealing. But seeing as how Jason's writing has been in comics these days, I guess Arkham Knight's writing is much better. They are least got his portrayal in the DLC right.

I know a lot of people had a problem with the Arkham knight being jason Todd but I loved it. After playing City I always wondered about Jason. Joker says “looks like you could use a new side kick” in Arkham asylum so we knew he was in the universe. I liked how he was the Arkham knight because it showed what can happen to someone if the joker messes with your mind. And joker was messing with Batman’s mind throughout Knight.
One thing I actually really like in the Arkham Knight origin is the idea of Jason being Slade's partner for a while after his "death." Batman and Deathstroke have had prior conflicts, and so have Deathstroke and the first Robin/Nightwing. I would think that a resurrected and vengeful Jason would want to learn assassination arts from one of the world's greatest assassins, and Batman's toughest enemies, as a way to really get under Batman's skin. Also, the currently upcoming Suicide Squad game had/has some potential to add Red Hood to the list of future content. This game is set in the Arkhamverse and Batman returned somehow, so surely Red Hood and the other sidekicks could be fighting Brainiac's onslaught both in and out of Gotham.
Thats what I like about his character hes the result of Batmans stubborn pride as he didnt see the monster jason was becoming over time as he grew up. Joker was the tipping point and basically Jason gave into his criminal and murderous ways for good as Red Hood. But then he met Dick and Barbra and Tim and he found a new family and got his life back on track from what I know in the comics.
It really makes you wonder how different the Arkham series could’ve played out if Jason just didn’t turn off his tracking device. Batman probably could’ve saved him. Of course Jason would still have several injuries from being beaten by the joker, but he wouldn’t have been tortured
Jason should’ve been Red Hood throughout the game with his voice disguised. Would’ve been awesome where Batman tries to identify him and Red Hood leaves trails of dead criminals for him to see and shoots a supervillain dead that Batman tries to take to GCPD. And when Batman identifies Jason he says “I can still hear his laugh! He tortured me for a year and what he did to those little kids! All because you wouldn’t kill him! I know how you think Bruce! And how you think makes you weak! I’m not gonna kill you I’m gonna hurt you and end your useless crusade so Gotham can have a real protector!”

I hate to say this but batmans no killing code is fucking stupid its exactly what alfred advised him not to do in arkham city dont save one life in exchange for thousands
Honestly the kindergarten thing makes Batman look really dumb for not killing him. Either A: change his character so hes not as bloodthirsty and more insane, or B: have Batman kill him BECAUSE he believes in the sanctity of life. The act of not killing him at this point is basically ensuring the death of more people. Honestly Joker needs a revamp, im sick of this edgy shock value stuff that is his entire identity at this point.
It’s the joker’s character. Why would you want to change it. I get where you’re coming from and it hit me right in the gut when I heard about the kindergarteners but you gotta relax. At the end of the day, it’s just fiction, and it’s just a game
@@NormanOsbornMSF because I like discussing stories in movies, comic books, etc. And my opinion is that he would be a better character if he wasn't as bloodthirsty, he can still be insane, or we keep it as it is and make Batman look like an idiot for going: "But my morals!" Right after the Joker just exploded the head of a cancer survivor. That's just my take tho, It's fine if you disagree
@@AshEnded I personally disagree with that statement. I personally like the Joker being a pure monster who kills and tortures for fun. To me that's a vital part of his character, along with being obsessed with Batman, unpredictable and clown-like. The Joker HAS to be a bloodthirsty monster who commits atrocities for the sake of it. I actually dislike it when they make him a bit more human and it's not a clearly "alternate" take on the character (like the Joker movie). Like in the No Man's Land comics where he murders Gordon's pregnant wife and doesn't find it funny or when the first Suicide Squad movie showed him being genuinely in love with Harley. Part of the Joker's horrifying aspect is precisely that he kills for no reason. We always try to give ulterior motives for horrifying crimes so that they still seem kind of "understandable", at least there's a logical, practical reason behind them. But the Joker kills and tortures simply because he likes it. There's no greater reason about it. That makes him seem inhuman and unscrutable and thus even more unpredictable. There's no rhyme or practical reason. Just his twisted sense of humor and sadism. And it's terrifying on many levels. And about Batman, it's a proof that Batman's philosophy isn't perfect. Everybody will agree that if there must be a single exception to his no-kill rule, it must be the Joker because letting him live means letting him kill more and more people. Thus the Joker is the ultimate test to his rule: if Batman doesn't kill the Joker, then he won't kill anyone. Of course, this is just an opinion.
Something I’ll never understand how joker was qualified and considered sane to be executed when he was framed for killing a politician but god forbid he kills anyone else he’s insane so he doesn’t know what he’s doing
10:08 I like, how, although it’s clear, Jason hates Bruce at this point in the story, in a twisted way. It sounds like he still at least respects that Batman is fighting crime and corruption. (in fact, there is a theory that states Jason would’ve taken up the role of a vigilante after killing Bruce to fill the void left behind, as he knows, just killing Batman, and would cause a lot of issues for Gotham. After all, he doesn’t want revenge on Gotham city, heck, he made sure the entire city was evacuated during their attack, he wants to revenge on Batman. And then once he’s taken care of Bruce, the other criminals who tortured him while being in the Joker’s custody would most definitely be next

Ya know I can kinda get why people didn't like Jason Todd as Robin, but after his actual arc into red hood and everything he ends up being one of my favs. Shame his character had to die to make it happen
The only reason he was voted to die is bc someone set a phone up to call automatically every 8 hours and vote for him to die and it was STILL close. I love Jason but that guy i accidentally made one of the greatest comics of all time and the single most iconic picture in comics history and then he came back as the coolest member of the batfamily other than the goat himself
Batman not being able to find Jason for 2 years is just insane. I know "two wrongs don't make a right", in regards of Batman not killing joker but doing so would have prevented a lot, is not necessarily about the actions but should be more focused on the outcome. Batman is 100% justified killing Joker. Deep down Batman is a masochist and I believe that he, unintentionally, forces this way of living on the people he loves making me believes he didn't want to find Jason as it would result in Batman realizing this exact truth he will never accept.
@@Zero-zr6xx First sentence is key and enables the rest. _"Batman not being able to find Jason for 2 years is just insane."_ The rest... Yes, heavy mental gymnastics lmao.
I don’t understand how Arkham Batman, or just Gotham could ever consider keeping Joker alive after the kindergarten incident. He should have been put down long before Arkham City
Batman is much, much weaker. Considering how his enemies tortured him in unimaginable ways for two years, Red Hood still manages to put villains out of their misery fast and painless (mostly) while batman ruins their lives and they return.
I always thought that was so odd and foul for Batman to replace robin . I get he thought he was but it was still kinda messed up, not only did he go get another side kick, he gave the kid the same exact name and suit😐he loves to say he works alone yet is always recruiting children …personally i think Jason hit it on the nose when he said Batman doesn’t save the innocent, he only punishes the guilty (yes ik he’s had many moments of empathy and compassion for his villains)
I had a dream where after the killer croc incident, scarecrow started to torture Jason in more visceral and bloody ways, taking his anger of batman out on him
everything cool, but can someone explain how the hell joker did it?? I mean in the arkham asylum batman just places joker there so how he tortured him for like a year when in fact it was just 1 night...?
The torture took place a while before asylum took place. The batgirl dlc in arkham knight takes place before the events of Arkham asylum in which tim drake is already robin. I assume joker was torturing jason around the time of the batgirl dlc. But jason escapes with deathstroke during the batman vs titan joker boss fight.
Jason was trained by the League of Assassin, just like Bruce. So I think it's fair to say he is definitely the most effective member of the Bat family. Dealing with the Villans instead of locking them up
Joker needed to be dead, and the fact Batman didn't want to kill him especially after the kindergarten thing or after Jason Todd is the one thing that makes Bruce pretty much irredeemable.
Understand why I just wanted to kill the joker but I don't understand why Batman believed it without a body Batman would stop at nothing to find his body that's unlike Batman
i hate that the game is called arkham knight but jason himself is forgotten at the end of the game, like the last time you see him he shoots cranes gun and batmans shackle and then POOF gone, no other cutscene, no other mention, WTFFFF???
Now I get it I’m really stupid. joker put J on his face because it stands for joker, and it’s super rude and I realize now that he could actually live with the J on his face could be as a sign of his name Jason so it’s not that bad OK it’s really bad
Actually. The scar on jasons cheek isnt a burn mark its a scar from a knife. If it was a burn mark it wouldn't look like it did it would be very different. For a burn mark the J would be darker and be burned into his skin not be above it. However a scar from a cut would look exactly how it did for Jason
I don’t care about Batman’s morals, after everything Jokers done, he doesn’t count as a human life anymore. Batman should have killed him so many times, so many lives would’ve been spared. And also Jason is probably my favorite DC character

@@jacksonh133 eh
@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 I'm saying it's nice jason didn't kill batman he decided to go out and be better
Another thing to note about J.Peter is that there is an R in parentheses indicating robin
oh i thought that meant republican
Slade yoinked half a billion off Bruce and he didn't even notice he's that fucking rich 😂
If Jason isn’t in suicide squad they’ve taken a massive L
I’m impressed he didn’t kill Harley yet
Possibly DLC??? I would like to see a Jason boss fight.
they've taken massive Ls already with the story
also it's inferred that he dies
@@arish_xo Batman's death scene was honestly pretty lame.
I like how scarecrow just stared at Jason, showing how they act somewhat towards each other in Arhkam Knight
“Look me in the eye and say that…” That delivery from Jason to Oracle gives me full body chills.
Jason is a very confusing character for some but this video helps me understand him better so thanks for this it helped with my school project.
You have a school project about jason todd?😭
@@equipeantipiratage1084
Maybe they probably had a project about batman characters and they chose Jason Todd. Or they were doing a project for a character that was similar to Jason??🤷🏾♀️
(that probably sounds stupid, but I feel like it sounds more legit than my first thought)
You can actually find the room he was totured In from the comic in Arkham Asylum.
5:19 OFFICER BALLS MENTIONED
The Joker is my favourite character from cartoons, movies, games the comics but anyone who feels sorry for him is just wrong imo. Feeling sorry for Jack Napier (from Killing Joke) or Arthur Fleck is fine but The Joker nah he'd torture you Day and night for that 😂😂😂
No wonder jason is so fucked up in the arkham verse 💀
Jason shouldn’t have left scarecrow, he was the only one who didn’t beat him up
Thank god it ended with a semi happy ending, Jason Todds story is hella tragic.
The fact he asks hows Alfred melts my heart.
Great video where you did a perfect summary of the Arkham Knight!
Of course, this is just an opinion.
this is the most retarded take in history because why tf would batman not kll him@@dikastederook6380
Stop with the shock value? That’s Joker’s entire identity. He does things for Batman’s attention.
Amazing video bro!
I love the way you explain things man. You deserve way more views than what you get!
see if gotham knights made their game based off of events after THIS it wouldn’t have been such a flop
Jason's screams of toture, and even witnessing it, is just so horrifying to think about...
5:32 what’s the REALLY messed up part is some of the prisoners they gave Jason the Redo of Healer treatment aka Grape lots and LOTS of grape where the G is silent
That never happened
@@cycle6364 that never happened , they just beat him up very badly and tormented him mentally
This story makes me feel so sorry for Jason
They need to make a movie about this and make this all something more than what it is. I find this to be an interesting and cool story.
A little while ago, I found a web comic crossovering "Ben 10" with DC, and litterally one of the first things that popped to my mind was an idealiazation of 10 year old Gwen Tennyson being Arkham Jason Todded by the Joker for the simple fact she doesn't smile as much as Ben.
Oh ! And he serenades her an adapted version of "Laughing now" so beautiful it brings tears to her eyes.
10:36 okay, this part it's,idk...bone chilling, the way it says shows how suffering he passed, then follow by Barbara saying "Jason?" And then cuts off it's,omnious idk what makes have this feeling.
So much potential for this character man I pray they flesh him out in ssktjl and I pray they don’t ruin him if they do.
Why aren't there more movies following Red Hood. Why not have Batman and Superman find and redeem him?
hearing jason screams I couldn't sleep for a week
The next rocksteady game shoulda been where Jason goes to kill everyone who tortured him instead of the suicide squad killing the justice league for no apparent reason
Insane mental gymnastics headcannon here
@@Zero-zr6xx First sentence is key and enables the rest. _"Batman not being able to find Jason for 2 years is just insane."_
The rest... Yes, heavy mental gymnastics lmao.
When was Jason kidnapped by the Joker, the joker kidnap him at the start of Arkham asylum, or a couple months before the events of Arkham
imagine how scared jason must of been though
Really shows just how screwed up the Joker is.
I really don't like The Joker in the Arkham Games just to put Jason into through so many stuff through for a entire year until mentally breaking him 😢
I don’t understand how Arkham Batman, or just Gotham could ever consider keeping Joker alive after the kindergarten incident. He should have been put down long before Arkham City
Great video man
See this is why i dont like the no killing shit, Talia got shot and killed in batmans hands and he was still going to give him the cure,?
You missed his mention in a city challenge map🙃🙃🙃 jk great vid keep it up👍👍👍
14:55 song name?
I had a dream where after the killer croc incident, scarecrow started to torture Jason in more visceral and bloody ways, taking his anger of batman out on him
it shows you far joker will go to just screw with bat-man
OH SHIT! Jason’s coming for me. I’ve also been called Tony for all my life and Big Tony as I got older.
PEOPLE VOTED FOR HIS DEATH?????????
They should do Jason Todd game you start as robin then turn into redhood
They should make an Arkham game during Jason’s time as Robin and his torture
Honestly what happened to Jason turned me off to the comics
You missed a lot about Jason Todd… raz al ghoul, his relationship with nightwing, and how Batman ultimately killed him
After seeing what Jason went through I’m completely on his side. Go ahead and do as you want Jason. You’re stronger than any men in my opinion.
everything cool, but can someone explain how the hell joker did it?? I mean in the arkham asylum batman just places joker there so how he tortured him for like a year when in fact it was just 1 night...?
The torture took place a while before asylum took place. The batgirl dlc in arkham knight takes place before the events of Arkham asylum in which tim drake is already robin. I assume joker was torturing jason around the time of the batgirl dlc. But jason escapes with deathstroke during the batman vs titan joker boss fight.
crazy to think that both deathstroke and jason were on arkham island during the events of arkham asylum
I’ve always really wondered what would’ve happened if he ended up living. How much would it change the comics??🤨
Hey I don’t know what this series is, it looks cool. How do I understand this? Is there shows or games I have to watch? And in what order?
We never saw on screen the kindergarten massacre or Jason capture
Jason was trained by the League of Assassin, just like Bruce.
So I think it's fair to say he is definitely the most effective member of the Bat family. Dealing with the Villans instead of locking them up
Please what music are you using in the background I ve been searching for it and can't find it
Batman Arkham City - A history of violence OST
Anyways subscribed love Batman content 😅
3:02 I never Arkham Joker did that
Great video as kid didn’t pay much attention to all details
Joker needed to be dead, and the fact Batman didn't want to kill him especially after the kindergarten thing or after Jason Todd is the one thing that makes Bruce pretty much irredeemable.
From a sidekick to a enemy.
Actually last time u see Jason he was throwing black mask out of a window in his dlc
It was four years
Hey, just a question, which Arkhamverse game is this? I REALLY wanna play this game!
Batman Arkham Knight!
I saw Jason Todd in Arkham Origins as Robin, I think.
This is the true Arkhamverse, not that "suicide squad" garbage
Oh my God, joker is worst then craven
Ironically, his resurrection is canon. In the comics, he was brought back by Talia using the Lazarus pit
Red Hood: Kill the Suicide Squad
Killer moth is the best why would they kill him in the arkhamverse
What music is used?
If not Batman, someone needs to take Joker out. I mean, after killing kids, little kindergarteners mind you, jokers gotta go. Period!
I don’t care about Batman’s morals, after everything Jokers done, he doesn’t count as a human life anymore. Batman should have killed him so many times, so many lives would’ve been spared. And also Jason is probably my favorite DC character
