    Hi ! I am a 22 year-old guy from Reunion Island(French) and I've been following your channel for about 2 years. I recently stumbled upon one of your vids and I remembered how helpful, kind and relaxed you guys are. I am slowly shifting to an alternative lifestyle and I would like to thank you for the motivation you guys bring me with each video posted.
    Keep it up ! :')

    Hi guys!
    Yes, Thank you for the tips. My boxes are doing great. will incorporate back eden method in full effect next spring with the help of the Great God. Patara gave great tips for my tomatoe plants and they are doing fine. I have fruit on them and leaves are beautiful green. I've been pinching bottom branches off or branches that are dying so they don't rob full growth of plant as a whole. I'm excited. God continue to bless you both.

    Great looking plants! Good tips there Mr. Hilder on the watering, my theory is if it rains you don't have to water....If it hasn't rained in three weeks, one may want to check and see if the Back to Eden Garden would like to have a drink! I had a well drilled just for that purpose and use it only when I have sewed seeds or in extreme dry times! You two work good together and are always dishing out great information.....simple, true and to the point! Thank You both! Keep Mr. Hilder in line Starry! Lol

    As a rule of thumb i think its 1 inch of water will sink 10 inches into the ground, so the heavier you water the deeper the roots will go, therefor the healthier the plant and the less watering is required.
    If the plant gets used to regular (small amounts) of water the roots wont search for the water and the will stay at the surface of the soil and dry out quicker.
    Plants looked after them selves long before humans where ever here! But yes what you are doing is perfect one a week/month during hot spells just go all out. Its nearly impossible to over water a plant growing directly in the ground.
    Just abit of info for the viewers, i see you get it Mr and Mrs Hilda! Beautiful garden!

    We added deep mulch to our beds just before the Appalachian Homesteading conference in early May. I have watered ONCE since then, thanks to water retention and frequent rains.

    Can't wait to see your potato harvest, they look a lot more green than mine, like they have a ways to go yet.

    I'm intrigued by how you support your tomato plants. Can to do a video on it? Tomato cages are so expensive.

      Wow I love sunflowers
      I have a 200 ft garden and I'm currently getting it ready in these next couple of months. Getting down to bare earth and then I'm going to cover it in the black garden plastic until next February
      1 to get rid of all the weeds and 2 to give me time to make loads of beds
      And I'd love to buy the sunflower seeds I think they're called yellow queen. They're really big ones. I'm just going to grow everything
      I love pumpkins too
      I also have blueberry gojiberry and redgrape. But, so Very soon I'll be growing everything I hope. ☺🍅🍒🍓🍉🍏🌽

      I was amazed that hardly any weed came though the wood chips I used garden compost and chicken dress add a 100 red snapper earthworms covered it with newsprint paper then add my wood chips and than add some shavings

    Thanks, very true and helpful. I had some problems with my BTE Idaho garden because I didn't check the soil and thought I didn't need to water but I did. Do you think if the walkways had deeper mulch that would make a difference in a big mulched area verses walkways having minimal mulch? Thanks for all the great info

    You don't live in the south like I do funny teacher. I have to make sure the water is getting down to the roots. That requires daily watering. Lucky we have an endless supply of water in front of our house, We are on a lake.

    What is your opinion on planting near walnut trees? What about the ash from burning fallen branches? Would you till it all together and plant?? Sending hugs from Tennessee!!

    The covering seems to be the key to not having to water much. Did you make your own wood chips for the covering?

    Are there no snakes where you are? I noticed Mr. H appears to not be wearing shoes. Around here you might step on a copperhead walking around like that.

    Starry, My garden is a raised bed. I am adding sawdust this year. In the fall I usually add manure from cleaning out the coop. Would I need to remove the sawdust and put the manure below..or just add the manure on top of the dust?

    • @stefm8251
      @stefm8251 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you should not put the chicken coop right away but put it in a composting pile for at least 6 month to 1year to make compost . compost turn your soil in rich and fertile one , but fresh manure turn it in bad unhealthy soil .

    • @stefm8251
      @stefm8251 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      First the soil , over it some compost mixed with soil and the last layer is wood chips .with BTE gardening your plant will grow in your raised bed and even outside it, ,then I think she removed the bed and let the nature grow on its own pretty successfully

    • @StarryHilder
      @StarryHilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remember sawdust lacks nitrogen and carbon...its not a complete organic component to help you soil...try to find wood chips..bark and wood...thats the key...then layer that on your bed...then just as the manure..it wil naturally shift thru the layers..every time it rains..we dont mix anything...we just layer
