You had me at “Cranberry-Apple Relish”! I am intrigued by “fermenting” one of my all year round favorites! OOoohhhmmmgee; MUST DO THIS! THANK YOU for sharing I know that I can’t be the only person who thinks that cranberries should be used year round; they’re not just for the holidays!
Yes, thank you for sharing! I'm liking these fruit ones since I don't eat fruit very often and it tends to go bad before I use it all up. If I could prolong the life of some of them, this is what I will do! Need to research which fruits are suited for fermentation.
This one is differently on my todo list. It sounds so delicious. I’ve really enjoyed watching all these videos. All you ladies came up with some delicious recipes. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful idea! That looks so yummy & refreshing…you had my mouth watering as you listed the different things to us this with. 🦋
Thank you for your fermented cranberry recipe! I did not realize I should change the size of the jar as I used our ferment. It makes sense to be able to keep the liquid on the top of the ferment to protect the ingredients. I have learned so much. Thank you Kathy!
Hi Kathy, this recipe looks amazing! I love the fact you are using maple syrup for sweetness. I'm so making this! Thank you for sharing this video with all of us. God bless you and your family.
What a lovely recipe! Thank you for sharing. I wish fresh cranberries were readily available year round but since they aren’t (at least where I live) I’ll just keep a list of what I want to do with them and when they hit the shelves again I’ll stock up! This looked amazing!
This sounds wonderful! My mom and I make a cranberry relish every year that we greatly enjoy. This reminds me of that. Since it's a ferment that makes it a double win for my mom who struggles with UTI's. Needless to say this recipe will be a must on my to-do list! Thanks for sharing another fruity ferment! Can I make this with frozen cranberries? I might just have everything I need to make it right now if so.
@@northstarprepsteader it can be done with frozen cranberries but I'm sure that it is better with fresh! ☺️ When I made mine it came out pretty good but I definitely need to try this again! Unfortunately the apple cider that I had on hand turned out to have a preservative in it so I couldn't use that. I added up adding a 1/4c more pink lady apple kombucha and a 1/4c filtered water and a little more maple syrup to make up for the lack of sweetness from the apple juice. I ended up letting mine got for 5 days because when I tasted it after 3 days it was salty and I did not like that. It's still a bit more salty than I'd like it after 5 days but it's better now. I only added the 1tsp from the recipe. Could the salt be reduced? Or is it necessary for the process? I can't wait to try this again with fresh cranberries and good non-preservative apple cider!
@@jamiecole2144 Hi Jamie, thank you for getting back to me about how the frozen berries worked! The apple juice definitely adds a sweetness you can't get from most other liquids, even orange juice. Working with the other ingredients to achieve that was a great idea. The salt is important to the fermenting process, but you could possibly reduce it to 3/4 tsp for that volume. If needed, try 1/2 tsp and see how it works.
Kathy, this looks delicious. Now I just hope I can find some cranberries somewhere because I'm definitely making this one. I have really enjoyed your videos!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! A couple others want to try this with frozen cranberries (I'm sure you can find them in the store). I don't really know how it will turn out, if they'll be too mushy or not, but it might be worth a try.
Awesome! Someone else want to try this with frozen cranberries. I don't know if it will work or not, but it might be something you'd want to experiment with?
Wow that looks like an amazing relish to make for the holidays. I will definitely keep this recipe, though we do turkey many times through out the year, Thanksgiving is only once a year so I do mini thanksgivings through out the year with all the fixings. Can't wait to try this one. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so very much for sharing this process and recipe with us. I love cranberries and plan on making this for Thanksgiving when the berries are available here. I cannot wait to try this!!
