My parents talked about Aberdeen when I was growing up, but we never visited there. I think we may have had family there at one time. Neat little town.

I googled Bukka White and Aberdeen Mississippi Blues, an amazing video came up spelled “Booker” . He played a Dobro but used strumming and amazingly tapping techniques. 🎼

That's the old U.S. Highway 45 Bridge .... During the early 1980s, the Corps of Engineers straightened and rerouted the river as part of the Tenn-Tom project, and a new 4-lane span was constructed over the new waterway to serve U.S. 45 and Mississippi Highway 8 .... You'll see the same situation in Columbus, MS, where old U.S. Highway 82 (now Highway 182) was split by the new channel of the river, creating an island just west of Columbus.

As someone who has recently moved to Aberdeen its cool that you did this video . Compared to other small towns Aberdeen has a very robust "main street" essence the Phoniex store just had a fire recently and that is why it was all boarded up.

Interesting stuff... Just think how busy this place may have been in it's hay day... I wonder if there used to be alot of neon signs at night back in the day....there will never be new small towns like this again... Times are a changing... must have gotten a lot of steps in that day.... Thanks for sharing... Take care... Have a great day.... thanks...👍👍

Bedsides the blues musicians being from there - I think the Tom Bigbee Inn was famous and there’s lots of historical value including Cotton and at one point it was the largest city in Mississippi

It is interesting that you stood in front of the oldest business in the state - run by the same family for 7 generations - and showed businesses that were closed. So many vibrant business and a town that is trying very hard to improve. I am sure you will remove this comment, but you did this town a terrible disservice by not showing both sides of the street.
