The Doberman is the only dog I will have! I had other breads but the Doberman is the best of them all! They are the smartest and most eager to learn. Even as a puppy they are very attentive and always sharp. But most of all they become part of the family. You never own a Doberman, you Adopt a Doberman or should I say they adopt you. They are very loving and must be part of the family.
Bull Terriers and Bostons used to always have their ears cropped, but now have naturally standing ears. I personally don't mind the natural ears on Dobies, but all of mine, including the rescues, have had cropped ears. The cropped Dobies are so used to having their ears worked with, it's never a problem to keep them cleaned. Some of my friends with other breeds of rescues have to call me over to clean their dogs' ears because of lack of early training.
Dobermans are OP. And by that I mean Overwhelmingly Pretty. Is it even fair to have them in a competition?! XD I mean does it get any better? XD Man I just love Dobermans.

Mr. Dobermann wanted the breed to look tough and cropping/ docking is how its done. Plus they dont just snip the ears they gove them painkillers and put them to sleep when they do the procedure. Im just trying to say that cropping isnt as bad as everyone says...

Cynthia Crowley i got a whippet too, recently got a doberman, they're so awesome dogs. So different from the whippet tho, so it was kinda chocking to own a dobie cuz the whippet just sleeps under a blanket all day long(but a perfect running companion) and on the other hand doberman pup is going crazy 24/7😂 but i got used to it, he has settled down now but still energetic like a crazy person. Its kinda sad that they ban cropping, they look so much better cropped. Said it before and saying it again tree huggers can piss off!! Im gettin my dobies cropped n docked.
I prefer the Euro working bloodlines, but have a big red US red boy as a companion now. I wanted the softer temperament. He sure does have his skin issues, tho. Feed him raw, grain free kibble, coconut oil and fish oil. I had 2 fawns from Euro boodlines (sired by my German Wunderhund Bingo von Ellendonk grandson boy) and they had absolutely no skin issues.
Agree. I've had Dobies since 1975. US show bloodlines, Euro working bloodlines, and God knows from where rescues. I've loved them all, but the Euro working bloodlines are the most represntative of what a Dobie is supposed to be, IMO. Brawn and brains.

I have one of their Dobermans and not only is he beautiful, his trainer not affiliated with the breeder thinks my boy has IPO potential. He comments all the time on my Dobe's temperament. Gwen and Carissa know what they are doing with Dobermans. I live every day with one of their Dobes, and I'm in awe of him. IMO he is perfection on four paws, I'm biased, though. :)
Denise Mangold American Dobermans are just sad. They bred the "guarding ability" out of a dog that was create for that specific purpose. European Dobermans are the perfect example of what a Doberman is supposed to be.

If you are planning on using a Doberman for shows, get their ears cropped and tails docked if that’s what’s needed. Pet dobies don’t need it. While not cruel, or inhumane, it severely limits their social abilities.

She is a handler. Most US breeders opt to hire a handler. They may handle many different dogs/bitches during a show. They travel around the US with many clients' dogs in huge RVs. It's not an inexpensive "sport."

I have been competing with my dobies for years in both Conformation, Obedience and Schtzhund. The purpose of Conformation is not to "prance" around a ring. It determines how closely they come to the breed standard. If they prove themselves in Conformation as worthy breeding stock, this is an indicator that they are capable of performing the job for which they were bred. Form = Function. The Obedience and Schutzhund titles would follow. He must have titles on both ends of his name. I have never run into an issue competing and placing titles on dogs in AKC, UKC or Schutzhund with any good show lines. Those of us who are passionate about this breed are concerned with form, health, temperament and working ability! One does not trump the other. All are equally important.

Funny people qualify my doberman as American doberman because he is tall and slim. When i look at European dob they look mixed with a bulldog or i dunno, their chest are so large and weird. I guess all taste are in the nature, for me my dog is the more beautiful on the planet :P :

there are different kinds of European dobies, the ones in the west have more of the guard dog instinct than the american ones, but it is illegal in most countries to crop and dock the tail and ears, and the eastern European are more likely to have been bred poorly because of the large dog kennels and lack of regulations
Norse Titan European Dobermans have "stricter" regulations in Europe. Before a breed can breed their European Doberman in Europe, at least one of the dog's parents must have a title in Schutzhund.

i hate the small american dobermann standard i prefer the muscled europeen dobie like mines im sorry but that is everything that a dobermann not must be no strength no muscle no WORKING abillity and that for a workdog it,s sad what the have made off it in america real sad to see that as a true dobermann fan

Yet here we are two years later still cropping and docking, we are quite proud to be able to do a historical thing with our dogs. It's not abuse or cruel.

@@monstersince it's not illegal in the us, Canada, and a couple of other cities that I just can't remember, oh yeah, in the UK I believe too they allow it for working dogs to be docked for work.
It's definitely not cruel, or abuse, it's just sad people still think that it is when it's not.
