No one had a chance against that Australian, it’s perfect standard wise… but the Jack Russell sure came close! Personally I’m beyond happy to see the ❤️Leonburger❤️ in the running.
I have a 10 month Aussie with a natural bobtail and we're chuffed to bits at Victory's victory. Great to see the Leonberger, I've met a few in my time and they have such magnificent presence. However, for me the winner would be Zen the Jack Russell terrier. He really looked the part and gave his everything for the crowd. So pleased he was named the Reserve BIS 👏
I’m a Giant Schnauzer person but thought this final group was great. Loved the Aussie from the start but Zen the JR was so “on”, I agree with you!
I once read an article by several vets saying that this ‘race’ should be suppressed because of all the medical problems associated with it, particularly the respiratory problems.
my beloved australian shepherd who I grew up with, Milo, recently passed away at the age of 15, so it makes me so happy to see an aussie win best in show this year :')
R.I.P Milo ❤🌹
What a stunner of a winner! They were all awesome. That Leonberger ❤
I have to say, the little Jack Russell is just adorable! Of course, I always had a soft spot for Fergus in rescue dog agility ...
My favourite too! Such a big, kind smile. Brain the size of a planer and the heart& courage of ten lions! Fabulous, fun loving little dogs that have been far too maligned for far too long! Hurrah for Jack Russell Terriers!!!
Congratulations to everyone, but the jack russel was my favorite among them all.
Tough between those 2
he had this playful allure that charmed the public, wiggling his tail
JACK RUSSELL'S ❤❤❤❤
Jack Russell always the star of the show .
Zen, you were the winner of our hearts!
IN MY 70 YRS. I HAVE BEEN THE MOMMY TO 4 JACK RUSSELL'S. LOYAL, LOVING, EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT, FUNNY, A TRUE MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!!! ❤🥰🐕🐶🦮
The Australian Shepherd is beautiful. I also like the Leonberger, and Weimaraner 🏆
That Frenchie was awful, giving grp win is encouraging to further breed in that direction, th short muzzled. brachy. rest were perfect examples of their breed,
Weimeraner had nothing to hide, elegant
This is the first time that in my ❤️❤❤❤️long history of competing and enjoying dog shows that I cried over these wonderful wins! Yes I had my favourites but everyone of these glorious breeds deserved to win such a difficult decision for this judge 🤗❤️
How pathetic a life you must have. Go volunteer at your local dog shelters control. Trust me, you’ll cry once you see the reality of “dog breeders.”
Th Frenchies are being bred w/ roo short muzzles, creating breathing problems, glad it was pointed out trying to improve, swing back to what were.
@@Memow-pk1ngI can't believe humans can be so cruel as to deliberately breed animals - for looks, or specific work (like dachshunds) - that have less-than-optimum lives.
Dear Crufts team, I love watching Crufts every year but I love to be surprised. Can you NOT put the winners picture as the thumbnail? Defeats the purpose of watching… 😢
That's what I said, it just popped up, BIS, w/ pic of Aussie..! It was good pick, J Russell close second !!
The Aussie did win
But yeah agreed
Dear Crufts media, thanks for giving the winner away. We can't all watch it live 🙄
Yea agree
What a stupid comment should the announcement have been kept secret just for you
I can assure you, Best In Show means very little for a dog. You cannot explain it to them. They are just happy for their owners to be happy.
What about the ones who were bred with painful physical ailments because of breeders incompetence and “mistakes”? They happy too?
In any litter are always good ones, & those born, or develop ailments, just as human children, @@sweetpeas8206
They know , when win, bc th handler owner is happy
@@Memow-pk1ng Handler is happy because of the MONEY he/she can make off the backs and souls of these dogs.
They do enjoy being shown though I know my dog loved show training and the occasional show we went to, mainly for the fun of it.
Glad to see the Jack Russells competing! Had a assist dog trainer as a neighbor, he was quite the good training assistant. Little rock star, loved to do tricks. :)
congratulations
Jack russells are the frickin best
Yes natural show dog.
Absolutely impossible to have no breathing problems unless he is STANDING STILL. Take him for a walk AND THEN TEST HIM
Dear CruftsTeam ... you told that the Kennel Club works hard for healthy Breeds and the French Bulldog passed the Health lincens correctly... I asked you... why does breath so hard after only one round walking in the arena ? This kind of dogs can't be Healthy with this nose which ist absolutely not enough
That was an awful Frenche, to win Group 1 , is further encouraging to keep breeding that type, w/ very short muzzled, nose almost to eyeballs!!
100%, even the fittest brachycephalic example is still not gonna be as fit and capable as those with a longer snout. I just wish they would hurry the breed standard changing.
Oh shut up , just enjoy the show
There is absolutely no way to change a purebreds physical structure with one generation....
Honestly, the Frenchies that you see winning at major dog shows are miles healthier than backyard-bred dogs. People who intentionally breed for color or other undesirable characteristics give a bad name to those who work hard to improve the breed.
That being said, pretty much every kennel club could certainly put effort towards improving their breed standards. If the standards are improved, responsible breeders have better guidelines for breeding healthier dogs.
Watching this, makes me miss having a dog companion.
Absolutely love the winner, but to be honest I have been over the moon with any of these very good bois taking the trophy home ❤ sad Crufts is over for another year just love our x
Breeders have another year to enforce misery on other animals. Yay!
I know, it went way too fast!
@@sweetpeas8206Ah yeah because these dogs with shiny coats, wagging tails, and good gaits are totally abused 😂
@@themageofhazard Oh you’re right. The females who are bred to give birth over and over again experience no pain at all during the 6 to 24 hour birthing process. Then there’s 12-48 hours of running a fever and not feeling well. And if a puppy gets “stuck” there’s a C section, a prolapsed uterus, mastitis….the list goes on. There is NO need for any animal to give birth 4 to 8 times in its life but breeders gotta make that money and feed their narcissism. And those are the breeders who rationalize overpopulating by calling themselves “reputable”.
@@sweetpeas8206I don’t think you have done an ounce of research into the money, time, and effort that show breeders put into their dogs. Personally I have looked into the standard poodle and the breeder I researched breeds their dogs 2-3x in a life (keep in mind wolves will have multiple litters across their lives), they give them the best possible researched food, immediate vet care and testing for conditions and if their health declines the dog is retired forever. To quote their website “our dogs are family first, pets second, breeding third.” Additionally, if for any reason a home isn’t right for the dog anymore, good breeders take in and personally rehome descended dogs, just to keep them out of shelters. It’s backyard breeders that are the problem and out to make a quick buck, not the project breeders who are working to make happy, healthy, functional dogs and improve the overall breed. They really only produce 1 litter a year, it’s the reason they have waiting lists.
Congratulations to both of you
Aussie’s are the best dogs. We have 3 miniature’s and a toy. Congratulations Viking.
Beautiful Aussie, a very well deserved win.
Frenchie has no face, all the rest were beautiful dogs. The aussie, Jack, Leonburger, weimaraner, pbg, even papillon.
Why on earth are they putting the winners in the thumbnail?
Well done 2 all off the dogs they are all winners but in my heart i was praying the jack Russell 2 win but well done the Australian shepherd ❤
Awesome Aussie
These were two of my choices, along with the Weimaraner. Based on movement and temperament. But more than anything, I was so grateful to hear that the brachycephalic breeds are going to be veterinary tested on their breathing ability, etc. There has to be an end to these extreme breeding practices and these big shows will support it. I also think in Group they mentioned the Neapolitan Mastiff and other similar breeds being reduced of their excessive wrinkles.
They were paying lip service too it because of the media backlash. Visibly open nostrils are in the breed standard yet the dog has severe stenosis. Doesn't matter about trying to breed better if you aren't going to reward it.
It will take time, that Frenchie was awful, here in U S become #1 took over th lab being for many yrs. Same here , bulldogs, pugs, & especially Pekes, bred. far too pushed in ..
PETA protested. about unethical breeding th brachy breeds
if his only fault is his nares, why are you throwing the whole dog out with the bathwater? Dogs are more than 1 part of their body.
Elton has the ability to be paired with another dog with better nares who also has a BOAS score of 0, but you'd likely still complain because you just don't like small brachycephalic breeds. @@thoraneh7365

I was so elated when my Dachshund, Amelia, qualified and really bummed we couldn't attend. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen was a stellar representative of the Hound Group. So sorry she didn't win.
Why couldn't you attend?
When will us have a Cavalier King Charles in the Best in show?
Absolutely worthy winner hes a stunning dog
I am thrilled with the Leonberger! One of my favorite breeds. I’ve never seen one win in an American Dog Show. From Diane
Maybe one you can adopt from a local animal shelter.
They not very popular, & judges not familiar w/ breed standard so go w/ ones they know. That's why u don't see th rarer breeds put up., all breed judge should know breed standards of all & recognize a good one.
Looks amazing there
My friends went there they had a blast
The dogs are beautiful
Viking is an absolute showstopper ❤
Oh my goodness!! Well,we love Crufts! We're really grateful it's on TH-cam for all to enjoy. If ever life is getting someone down in this house,a quick dose of the dog agility or dancing to music,is soon putting a big smile back on their faces! There's just nothing like a happy dog! Even the dogs who are just showing off their good looks give off their personalities& enjoy the showing off. So many comments being negative, pointing fingers or just being downright rude. Let's learn our manners from the dogs..be pleased &happy with everyone& everything regardless of whether they 'deserve' it! In my religion, we're repeatedly told that one of the greatest acts of charity is to plant a fruit tree. Because that tree will provide shelter& food for years to come to every sort of creature, from too small to be seen by the naked eye to the human animal. And the tree drops it's fruit for all. The good, the bad, the indifferent. And we should try to be like that tree too. And give freely without asking for virtue or something in return. Something dogs worked out millennia before humans have❤️🥰❤️🕊️
Viking has a Rottie forehead. Love the feathering on the Jack.
Gorgeous dog well done the winner congratulations 👏👏👏
That French Bulldog should have never won his class and a should have been removed from the final. I have been a lifelong Crufts supporter, but I'm disappointed to see support of a dog that doesn't meet breed standards and encourages unethical breeding. Shame on the breeders and shame on Crufts.
Yes was awful example to won its group. Here in US Same types are winning ,.. BIS Westminster 2022,.. National Dog show 23
Are promoting further breeding. of this
Yes and the breeders who are trying to breed the muzzles longer are being kicked in to the dirt and basically being told that there not breeding the correct type.
I want to see Frenchies with the well defined muzzle like what the breeder of my sisters frenchie is trying to do.
Same here in U S Frenchies become top #1, & being poorly bred.
All these breeds are being poorly bred. The “mistakes” are dumped somewhere or killed only so the breeder can show one at Crufts.
As someone who works in vet medicine, *please* stop breeding extreme brachycepalic dogs like that french bulldog. The poor thing doesnt have a muzzle and its nares are collapsed. Its face is concave where its muzzle should project out. Dogs need a muzzle to breathe properly, eat properly, and cool themselves properly.
It just makes me sad, knowing what I know about canine physiology and having seen extreme brachies like Frenchies and Pugs in our clinic gasping for air or having to have surgery to try and help them breathe better. It isnt cute.
French bulldog - Utility? Somebody please explain to me what use this poor deformed creature is? Look at pictures of French bulldogs 100 years ago and wonder why people do this to a dog.
They had longer square bodies, not stumpy little piglets, w/ noses not up to their eyeballs! In US are in non sporting, just companion dogs
I like the papillon and weimaraner ❤. I had 2 french bulldogs years ago before they were popular or even well known. They were active, playful , happy dogs. Regularly walked 2-3 miles a day with me, jumped about 3 feet off the ground when excited. Were healthy except that the male Kirby developed cancer at 9 years old . The female Lily lived to be 14 and was the healthiest dog I've ever own and ive had several mixed breeds.
Freuchie looks ridiculous
What is a freuchi?
Love this Champion boy!
Weimaraner and Papillon ❣️. It’s hard to pick a winner.
Should’ve been the Leonberger. I have 2. But Neville’s proportions and movement were second to none.
Adopted them from your local animal shelter then? Or just passed by the plight of desperate dogs in need and who have been in horrible situations of cruelty and abuse to have a dog to show off to others?
@@sweetpeas8206 You don't know the reasons why we, as a family, chose to go through the puppy route through reputable and responsible breeders of a breed that is known for its fantastic temperament, rather than using a shelter. Perhaps you should think about what reasons that would make you chose that route, before you are accusatory and condescending. We went the correct way for our family. Another family will be different. Perhaps you should also look at the many reasons why there are so many dogs (and other animals) being abused, neglected, and placed in shelters and lay blame where it truly lies (irresponsible breeders who are only out for a quick buck and irresponsible owners who really don't know how to care for their charges - both think of animals as disposable). The pandemic illustrated this very clearly: in 2020 the shelters were empty and puppy farms were in full swing as everyone clamored for a pet; in 2022 as people returned to work the shelters were full again. A responsible breeder will always take their dog back. You are also obviously unaware of the excellent Leo rescue organizations that exist to foster, rehabilitate, and rehome Leos before they even reach municipal shelters. Owning and caring for an animal (any animal) requires some sacrifice and responsibility for a number of years. I only wish more people realized that.
Not everyone is ina position to take a rescue dog you know! Some shelters are so concerned about protecting the dogs from being wrongly housed that the standards set prevent loving homes being given. And many dogs that end up in rescue centres need quite specialist care. It's not a crime to choose a breed to suit your situation and have it from puppyhood so that you can bring it up as part of your family. Seems quite responsible to me. Not all dogs are bought irresponsibly and not all rescued dogs are suitable for all people. You can't make such accusations of total strangers on the strength of one sentence!!
My childhood friend Courtney has two Australian shepherds ❤

It's a disgrace that the french bulldog is in the group. Very short snout, closed nostrils and having to breath with open mouth using its abdominal muscles. It is never going to get better if the judges doesn't do their job better. 😢😢😢
The ozzie was a pretty dog but i think leonburger should have won that what a gorgeous representation of the breed
Best in show the Australian Shepherd was bred & imported from Russia..... Yet no mention?
Why does it matter? It's very common for show dogs to be bred in another country and imported.
Sure come from all over, usually mentioned where from@@charka9732
Additionally I believe both this dog's dam and sire where imported from France to Russia.
Oh hell, thumbnail gave th winner, it's not same knowing , gonna watch it now
@Charka,
I just found it interesting that the other winners of the groups either UK or foreign based you were told if the handler was the breeder, or if the dog was born in one country, exported to another & then the owner comes to Crufts, but radio silence of this BIS winner, you'd think the owner was the breeder with the given strong impression, all hush hush....
Sometimes my shiba inu does what i want. Sometimes is pure chaos. Its always an adventure, you dont know what his mood will be and when he will decide to escape randomly
If it isn’t a collapsed rear end GSD, or a restricted breathing pug it has to be a dog that has had its tail amputated or bred out…….what is wrong with these so called dog lovers perversions?
Same in U S Show breeders have GSD way over angulated, roach backed, are trying to swing back to other correct direction .. Will take time.
Docking
No big deal done few days after birth, ears more serious if not proper care taken

Imagine labeling a dog who can barely breath, as one of the best dogs in show. Do not reward the breeders of such dogs. Give them a snout please!
They look even better with their tails.
He has a naturally bobbed tail. Not docked.
@@naomi5893some do, like corgis, spaniels, Weimarener looks better docked, as do dobies, natural ones look like dopey blk & tan coonhounds, lose th alert look of a guard dog . Been done for centuries& no one complained then,
Tho I don't agree w/ Central Asian Shepherds, having ears, tails chopped off days after birth , it's their cultural thing.
Ears done under anthesia, & taken proper care of, heal like a wound, in a week . & should be no problem
I have red dobie, now 12, never had a problem. w/ ears being cropped
@Memow-pk1ng Ear cropping has been said to be pointless. It has no benefits to the dog. That's why it's illegal in most countries. It's standard mutilation full stop!
Originally pit bulls had their ears cropped , so wouldn't get ripped, mini Scnauzers originated in Germany, ears same reason, were ratters,& beard for protection. dobies guard dogs less to grab , spaniels tails. less hair to get thru underbrush, trttiers tails, long enough easily grab out of varmint holes so th standards remained. Doesn't cause health problems,.. like th breeding of brachy dogs
Jack Russell was so cute, but papillon was soo pretty. Magnificent ears! Beautiful fur coat.
The Aussie Shepherd shares genes with the Irish Shepherd, almost extinct, which has a bob or short half tail.

A Truly beautifull dog ! Well deserved winner😂
Lovely dogs. Except the Frenchie.. no offense. No slight to the owner or the dog, just dont agree with the breed.
The 2 winners were great.
He's a handsome little guy, as a family that are privileged to have a Frenchie as part of the family I can say what a joy these little dogs are, loving, bright and happy, but just a word to all the haters out there, you only know what you're told, you obviously have never spent any time with a french bulldog
I have spent loads of time with French bulldogs. I do not hate them - I feel sorry for them. Most of them have short, pain-filled lives, struggling to breathe or to exercise at all. It is a very sad existence, and it is very selfish of people to cause this.
Obviously you will be biased but brachy breeds usually have something wrong with them. My sister in law has one. He's constantly drinking too fast and taking too much air in so throws up because of his soft palate. He has dermatitis on his abdomen and his ears. He's a nice looking frenchie though. I've yet to meet someone who has a brachy breed who doesn't have all the issues I've said above.
I absolutely love crufts but don't like their "frenchie standards"
Nothing was said about their personalities, just that are being bred w/ too short muzzled, noses up to eyeballs, stumpy low wide bodies, original ones were longer bodies square
@@naomi5893 of course you're not biased, my little lad has been assessed by my vet and needs no intervention
@@vobchopper That doesn't mean that he's "healthy", though. It simply means that the vet has decided it isn't worth the risk of anesthetizing him for an operation. Which is another genetic fault in Frenchies - anesthesia can kill them.
Poor Elton. He does not conform to breed standard and can barely breathe. Crufts should be on the dogs' side, and advocate for healthy dogs. Unfortunately, like the breeders, they care about the money more than the dogs.
elton has a boas score of 0, which means he can in fact breathe.
But it's funny you mention elton, as the papilion is also bracycephalic and was here too but not worthy of a mention?
@@potatochubble5685Papillons are absolutely NOT considered a brachiocephalic breed at all. You seem deeply confused.
@@potatochubble5685 With no discernible nostrils, the dog Elton's score on your scale is meaningless because your system is meant to profit breeders, to trick people into thinking it's scientific or something so they will feel less awful about dogs that breeders breed to suffer, dogs who can never fully breathe, who live their entire shortened lifespan with respiratory ailments. But selling them is so profitable! Count your money again, Breeder. That is what is important to you.
brachycephalic breeds are defined by a muzzle shorter than the width of their skull, so yes a papilion is also brachycephalic.@@RealFarknMcCoy
somehow i have a feeling you wouldn't make these comments to actual backyard breeders, or other bigger brachycephalic breeds like bully breeds or almost any mastiff.
But no, elton can breathe. Is he the best example of his breed? arguably he is incredibly mid, everything in his body structure is good except for his nares [nostrils] which could be improved on. However nares are only 1 part of the nose, and if his internal structure is good, which it is. He more than deserves to be in this ring with the other dogs there, it doesn't matter if he is the publics favourite or not.
But for some education, producing a healthy ethically bred litter is not a profitable thing. Nor is testing, titling or doing anything in show with your dogs. So frankly, outside of maybe getting elton some more ribbons this won't make him or his breeder any more popular. Nor will it embolden the hundreds of backyard breeders who breed french bulldogs as they aren't breeding dogs like elton, who had care put into his entire existance.

French bulldog - Utility? Somebody please explain to me what use this poor deformed creature is? Look at pictures of French bulldogs 100 years ago and wonder why people do this to a dog.
Dogs in the utility group are there bc they don't fit into another group, either bc they don't have a specific purpose and can do anything, or bc they became redundant when the purpose they were originally used for was phased out
