  • Some 30 or so years ago I had 3 RC aircraft. My favorite was a SIG Mid-Star 40 with an OS 40 motor and Futaba radios. Then I was away from RC flying for a long time.
Foam happened. Foam is great, I have a few of those, but I have found myself wanting to build another balsa model. After some research I settled on the ARF version of the much larger SIG Four-Star 64.
When I bought it a few weeks back SIG indicated that the next shipment from Vietnam was to be January 2023. But then it showed up on December 1, 2022! SIG received a few and shipped them right out. Early Christmas present to myself.
I recorded the unbox and build. OK, it's an ARF. Most of the build comes done by people better at it than me. The remaining build is to install servos/ linkages, a motor, an ESC, radio, glue on some parts, set it all up for the maiden, and program the transmitter.
The entire set of clips is about an hour. Rather than have you wade through all of that I am creating 6 episodes. This is the first, the rest will follow as I have time to put them together and on the channel. If you want to get notified for the next 5 just subscribe!

This model is already sold out again!
    Enjoy! Comments are encouraged.

The Four-Star 54 ARF is available on the company site at sigmfg.com/collections/sig-arfs-almost-ready-to-fly/products/sig-4-star-54-eg-arf
GO FOR IT! Put in a gyro receiver and fly it like a modern model!

The motor is out of an E-Flite Cessna 150. It's a BL50 Brushless Outrunner 525Kv. The prop is a 15x7. You need a minimum 60 amp ESC. Servos are standard size HiTech. I went with the HS-645MG High Torque Metal Gear Servo but other options would work as well.
