- The E-Flite Timber is one of the world's most popular RC aircraft. It is a bit like the Cessna 172 in the full-scale world in that respect. While popular, like the 172, it has its issues.
In this video I go over what I learned in my 3 summers of flying the Turbo Timber, the original and the Evolution. I really like this airplane and want to offer some solutions I have found for its weak areas. I had to leave out many details or this video would have been hours long. See the links for additional information I have vetted for accuracy.
The video is also divided into chapters so that you can look for solutions you are interested in viewing and skip the rest. Keep in mind though that you may not have seen some of these issues and those could happen with your Timber.
Links to instructional videos and products mentioned in this video are listed below, followed by the chapters list. This channel is not monetized. I receive no compensation if you buy any of the products linked below. Go past the links to find the chapter list.

I just purchased a new timber, the esc was positioned almost completely behind the battery tray, luckily I found your video after my second flight. Time to start 3d printing some cool vents!
Glad I could help
Love your comment, bought a turbo timber evo because of your show.
Please do a review on the super timber. Would love to see your likes and dislikes, and up grades.
Thanks G Man
Planning on it after I get in a few flights,
Thank you for making this video! You had me unlock several capabilities I didn’t know about
Glad I could help!
Some very helpful info and brilliant ideas. Thank you Sir!
Glad it was helpful!
awesome! I will be doing many of these fixes when I get mine this summer! thanks!
It's a great airplane, have fun!
Very well done video. I subscribed and shared your link around my clubs. We will try to get you to 1k just keep the well done Mod videos coming. Any RC aircraft that you may want to mod and why you did the mod is why I give this video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Many thanks!
very useful and informative.. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for cooling info.
Thanks for watching!
Tom, Nice job on your videos! Does the rx need to be unlocked to work with the light module? Thanks and keep up the good work!!
An open receiver port (gear?) assigned to a 2 position switch (A?). No unlock needed. I have my bomb drop servo and lights on gear port and switch A on the Turbo Timber.
Great video, I was wondering if you could go more in depth with the bomb drop system though I found it a bit confusing.
Sure. I fastened a servo with longish arm to the rear of the bottom fuselage vent. I used a 2-sided piece of servo tape. The servo is connected to the Gear port on an AR637T receiver and that is set to the A switch on my NX8. A in the up position (A-up) has the servo arm facing forward and just touching the vent. A in the down position (A-Down) has the servo arm pointing straight down. So to release the payload I just click A-Down. The payload has a string loop that goes on the arm with a loose fit. In the A-up position airflow prevents the payload from releasing. Works great. In addition I added an A-switch-change sound - "Bombs-Away" for A-(Down). The cost was $0. I had a salvaged servo on hand.
Thanks!
Another Hoosier I’m in Fort Wayne 🎉
Lots of us down here in the Indy area. 5 or 6 clubs. Any hobby shops in Fort Wayne?
Love the video BUT when I see someone use plyers on a hex nut I tend to question. My problem. There's still a lot of value though on Hoosiers videos.
It was what I had in the basement at the time!
I have recently encountered the GPS module SPMA95871- quit operating when I updated Receiver to 2.42.1 i think is the newest Firmware. HH has acknowleged it-working on it--3 weeks now --only on AR637T's. I have one on the 8channel receiver & it's ok.
Any ideas ?
Thanks for that, I'll not be updating any of my 637 series any time soon!
Hello, I have just came across exactly the same problem, tried it on Conscendo Evo and TT Evo both with BnF AR637TA's. The good folk at Spektrum/Logic UK are taking a look for me. All the best
Did you replace stock wheels/tires with Du-Bro SUPER LITE XL WHEELS?
Those are the wheels that came with the aircraft. They are Do-Bro Super Lite.
How much do I need to drill out those tires?
Match a drill bit to the new axles
@@GoofballFlyer oh yeah so stick one in the old tire hub.
Nothing wrong with the original landing gear , just remove the internal hooks that stop the springs working
I mentioned that too, but I have seen those spring stretch out too.
@GoofballFlyer I understand and agree, mine stretched on the outer coil, then settled and no more distortion after 100's of flights. Nothing to lose by trying
Too many Reg, in R/C. The fun is gone.
I have always been an AMA member and flown at a club. Nothing has changed much for me, but I can see your point if your situation is different.
