I want 25mph at 3100! My 24 w a single 225 needs to be at 43-45 to be up😢. Almost 50mph in a 29 with only 300hp! That boat is going to sip. Really love the no-nonsense build with efficiency in mind over power. This rig rocks! I wish retail boat builders had the sense to offer something built this way.
Haha, yep, She does pretty good! We traveled over 4800 miles this summer during our charter season, and I couldn't be happier with how the boat performs. instead of trying to pour expansion foam you could spray it. they come in 2 tanks that look like Propane Tanks maybe 1 and a half feet tall but girthy. 2 hoses conecting to a gun wich has tiny disposable mixing nozels. stick it into a hole and pump it in. we used that at Brüggen were we made trailers for Krone.
Sure, that can work great on larger projects or production work. I just don't use that much pour foam in my day to day operations, and it's hard to justify the larger and more complex setup. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

I really loved this video. What a fantastic build you did on that boat. It’s really something to be proud of. My dad was a self employed wooden boat builder back in the 50’s and 60’s. He would build a jig and then build a boat on it. Then he would take it out on puget sound and test it. After that he would tweak the design and build another. Being a wood design, changing the jig wasn’t very hard. Building a fiberglass mold like you did must have been incredibly difficult. I was amazed at how good your hull design is. For the size of boat it is and speed it goes the wake is really small. It seems very efficient but still seemed to have enough V to work well in rougher water. The way you shaped the lower part of the bow was really interesting. I bet my dad would have loved to talk to you about your design. I remember one time dad took out a new design and was throwing it around like crazy. He had the biggest grin on his face. He was very satisfied with that one. Very stable yet quite fast. I bet he would have loved your channel. Man, those Yamahas go like crazy!

I have built some small wooden skiffs, and we even did one welded aluminum gillnetter a few years back, but fiberglass boats were always the most popular in our area. Very impressive! That out performs my center engine ski boat that is direct drive, 260hp on a 20’ boat! Granted there is a lot of difference in purpose and I am pretty sure I would not want to slalom ski behind your boat but it sure performs well on 300hp! Congrats.

Thank you very much! The core material we used for the construction of our custom 29 is called Coosa board. It is a fiberglass reinforced composite panel that has similar strength and working characteristics of marine plywood but is lighter and rot proof. I have been using it for years in our families boatshop with very good results. I have 25 videos here on the channel documenting the build of the 29 in high detail, with many of those videos showing how we work with the Coosa board, along with lots of other fiberglass and boatbuilding DIY content. Thank you very much! These twins just have more control and trust versus a big single, and we do fish almost exclusively in big water, so it's nice to have a backup plan. This boat will actually plane off on one engine, so we can come back in at speed if we lose one engine, which is really nice! That's my brother in the video helping me, but he is quite a bit older than I am, so we get that he could be my dad from time to time. Your boats lookin great, so keep up the good work!
A comment. The sailboat I race, the original 5 were cold moulded plywood. Something like 180 hrs per hull. The guy that bought #6, back in 1959, wanted the new fangled fiberglass. They used #5 to make a female mould. And, if I remember correctly, the first fiberglass hull took 18 hr. Don't quote me exact times, the history is a little foggy. I know #36, from around 1960- 61, is still racing well.
It is my original design. Our family has been building boats professionally since the 60s. Our last name is Buskens, and that what they sold as. The boat is 29 ft overall. You get a stronger boat by having screws and adhesive vs. just adhesives holding the boat together. Thanks for watching!
About the pvc pipe, is that the only plastic that will bond well when glued with resin?have you tride testing how well the resin stick to it?, i tried using other types of plastics and it just a waste of time, except that I gained a knowledge that it won't work
The pvc pipe has to be cleaned with acetone first. Then, sand or grind the pvc pipes surface very thoroughly. I personally like to wrap the pipe with fiberglass before installation if possible. Once it's fiberglassed, other fiberglass will bond to it quite well, or at least it has for me. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
Am I wrong? I believe I saw all of your C-sections for your life Wells in the transom of the Boat.? how do you get waterflow when you’re on the run to your live well and precious bait?
There is a product called a EZ pump, it's made by T and H marine. It is basically a transom scoop that goes over the thu- hull fitting and drives water into the pump when the boat is up and running. They work great, and are not expensive at all. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
I use the Bluewater 26 pound density Coosa board, which holds screws better than the 15 or 20 lb density. I always use an adhesive, along with screws when working with Coosa board, and haven't ever had any problems. We have put almost 5000 miles over water on our 29 this year, and everything looks great. of course, the size and type of screws, as well as the adhesives you use, could make a difference. Glad you enjoyed the build video of our custom 29! The core material we used in this build is called Coosa board. It is made in central Alabama. Most large fiberglass distributors keep it in stock. Hello, captain Buskens, the first layer when spraying the mold with GELCOAT should or should not have wax in it ? I can’t get the boat shiny out of the mold . I can’t pin point where am I going wrong. Please give me a hint
You would always want to use a non waxed gelcoat when you are building a part in a mold. The gloss or shine on a fiberglass part is directly connected to the gloss or shine in the mold itself. If the mold doesn't shine, the part will not shine. It is also VERY important to thoroughly wax the molds prier to applying gelcoat, especially to a new mold. I have always applied 5 to 7 coats of high temp mold release wax on a new mold, and then 1 or 2 coats between each following part. Our how to build a mold- Hard top series of videos shows the steps in full detail. I would recommend watching Episodes 6,7,8, and 9 from start to finish, and pay attention to every detail. If you miss one step in the process,it will definitely affect everything! I hope this helps, and I wish you all the best with your project!

It's called Coosa board, and it's made in Alabama. It is a fiberglass reinforced, polyurethane panel that is light, strong, and rot proof. It is designed to be a modern replacement for marine plywood. There is a product called a EZ pump, it's made by T and H marine. It is basically a transom scoop that goes over the thu- hull fitting and drives water into the pump when the boat is up and running. They work great, and are not expensive at all. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!

Hi Joe, how well do the screws hold in the coussa board . Because a fiberglass guy said he had some issues with them holding.
I use the Bluewater 26 pound density Coosa board, which holds screws better than the 15 or 20 lb density. I always use an adhesive, along with screws when working with Coosa board, and haven't ever had any problems. We have put almost 5000 miles over water on our 29 this year, and everything looks great. of course, the size and type of screws, as well as the adhesives you use, could make a difference. Glad you enjoyed the build video of our custom 29! The core material we used in this build is called Coosa board. It is made in central Alabama. Most large fiberglass distributors keep it in stock. Hello, captain Buskens, the first layer when spraying the mold with GELCOAT should or should not have wax in it ? I can’t get the boat shiny out of the mold . I can’t pin point where am I going wrong. Please give me a hint
You would always want to use a non waxed gelcoat when you are building a part in a mold. The gloss or shine on a fiberglass part is directly connected to the gloss or shine in the mold itself. If the mold doesn't shine, the part will not shine. It is also VERY important to thoroughly wax the molds prier to applying gelcoat, especially to a new mold. I have always applied 5 to 7 coats of high temp mold release wax on a new mold, and then 1 or 2 coats between each following part. Our how to build a mold- Hard top series of videos shows the steps in full detail. I would recommend watching Episodes 6,7,8, and 9 from start to finish, and pay attention to every detail. If you miss one step in the process,it will definitely affect everything! I hope this helps, and I wish you all the best with your project!

What's this Kusa board you speak of please?
It's called Coosa board, and it's made in Alabama. It is a fiberglass reinforced, polyurethane panel that is light, strong, and rot proof. It is designed to be a modern replacement for marine plywood. I have several different videos here on the channel, showing how to work with coosa board, including our most recent video where we are replacing a rotten wood transom, with coosa board.
