  • The road E-18 crosses the border between Norway and Sweden and is the main road from Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden. On the Swedish side there are severeal large shopping centers. The cost of most goods are lower in Sweden, so Norwegians, me included, often crosses the border to shop food items.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe for more videos of Scandinavian travel, sights, food, snacks, beer, candy and transportation.

Is there currently any type of border control at the crossing due to covid?

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. Isn't there customs control as well as Passport control enroute from Sweden to Norway that would stop people from buying cheap goods in Sweden.

There is no passport control. Both countries are members of the Schengen agreement, so there is no control if you travel between most European countries. But the Scandinavian countries had agreed on no passport control way before Schengen started. Sometimes there are customs control between the countries, but I am seldom stopped. Thanks for watching 😊

Christer Häll did any of the Nordic countries have temporary passport controls in the last few months ?

Norway have had temporary passport control since the border closed. Still strict control. Denmark accepts only visitors from some countries and you must show your passport. Don't think Sweden have any control.

Ah, so travelling to Sweden to get a shopping deal? Kinda like Canadians heading over the US border...

Yeah, it's like that all over Europe. The Swedes go to Denmark, the Danish go to Germany and the Germans go to Poland……..

Looks even simpler than US Canada. More like going to Wisconsin.

People would travel from the UK to France and Belgium for cheaper alcohol and tobacco but that seemed to stop long before we left the EU. A few decades ago French people would come to the UK to buy bacon.
