The codex narrator, Neil Ross, recently narrated a special on the Cassini mission to Saturn. The whole time I was watching it I was expecting to hear "the Geth are a race of networked AIs developed 300 years ago by the Quarians as tools of labor and war....."
Makes me feel like I am walking through an interactive diorama at the MASS effect Museum....oh shit EA should include an interactive Museum to unlock in the next game as empty displays in which you have to fill up by collecting codex cards strewn hidden throughout each level.
Going through this codex when I first played Mass Effect was mind blowing. They put so much detail and history into the world. The Mass Effect universe is my favorite out of all of them.
The Thanix cannon was developed using Sovereign's main gun... Even the scaled down version on the Normandy frigate destroyed the Collector ship in two shots. The Codex even says it's now widely used in the Alliance military and it can pierce ANY KNOWN shield or armor. Why in the world did Bioware keep telling us in ME3 that the war against the Reapers couldn't be won "conventionally." It absolutely could have if you fought and built the entire galactic fleet armed with Thanix canons. The Crucible shouldn't have been three color coded options. If you had enough resources it should have been a Reaper virus that affected their specific code and damaged their shields making the Thanix cannon's you researched in ME2 (if you researched them) that much more effective to destroy the ships in head to head fights. You could have defeated them conventionally. Ugh...
Because the Reapers are bio-mechanical, not pure machines. They're not something you can take down with a virus. And Thank Canons are scaled down knock offs of the Reapers main guns. The Reapers themselves have more powerful weapons, guns, and armor.
Had a great moment few years back at a bar where the barman was like "I loved reading the codex but I wish I didnt have to read it, like if they made a audio book I would buy it" turns out he only every played 1/3 on a TV without sound. Well thanks to youtube....lets just say his eyes lit up!
Actually, I like it voiceless because I read much faster than the voice in the codex and its only disrupting my reading when he reads passages I was already done with. That is why I mute sound when I go to read Codex pages.
its a "matter of fact museum news/radio broadcasting narration" no doubt what he says is nothing but the complete truth/fact hah. One of my favorite narration styles specially with his voice
I really thought Michael McConnohie, the narrator in Crackdown was also the voice to the codex narrator in ME. They sound so similar! I don't know if anyone ever noticed this detail but it's crazy that they found almost the same voice to use.
I really Respect by wherefore put it in a lot of thought into this in a lot of history behind it but one thing I notice about it and maybe I didn't see it but it does not have one for Shepherd..... I could have sworn that the previous Mass affects one of the games had a profile about Shepard especially because you can choose if he's a war hero or sole survivor or if he's ruthless..
If there was something that BioWare was good at back then, it was worldbuilding from basically scratch. Knights of The Old Republic and Dragon Age Origins are still their best non-Mass Effect projects, it's a tragedy how far they fell after Mass Effect 3's rushed nature and EA just abusing them further.

tachikoma747 That man deserves more work :)

+tachikoma747 Isn't he also the voice on the Knife Party track Centipede?
Daria Morgendorffer you have to be stupid. There's no other possibility.

I wish Wikipedia had Neil Ross button with it
theBatBurger Once realistic voice synthesizers take off, the dream will be fulfilled.
Just wait, photoshop is working on that voice mimicing software.
I read every wiki article in his voice now
@@VladofWallachia well well well...
@@VladofWallachia well, guess the dream is fulfilled now! ELEVENLABS BABY
Want a Salarian to narrate this? play at 1.5x speed!
at 0.5 speed sounds like elcor voice
Haha

plasmathunderdx :) Yea, I really loved the codices
I'm a VERY new comer, and let me just say... I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!
Not having a narrated codex on Andromeda felt like such a betrayal
Made me dislike it 2x more
Gotta be honest, I just heard this guy in my head and didn't notice.
Andromeda itself felt like such a betrayal. They butchered my favorite trilogy.
I wish there was an app of just mass effect codex entries. That'd be so awesome
There is
This feels so nice to listen to while I’m at work

EjdSmith Realisitacally the only option here is Wellington. They’ve got food and walls.

It would be boring and disappointing, if there are one ending.
@@sideburngthepeacebringer27Better 1 good ending than the 4 bad endings we got.
I think 1 Bad Ending with some variables would make more sense because Eldritch Horror stories usually have bad endings.@@highlordlaughterofcanada8685

Every time I hear the Hanar "improper speech" lines of the codex, all I hear is "You big, stupid, jellyfish!"
I swear Mass Effect has the best writing I have ever seen in a video game. This is why I love reading these codexes.
Takes notes Final Fantasy, this is how you make a codex.
My favorite Wikipedia in the world
Kinda hilarious to me how the first two races on the council were the ones with the longest and shortest lifespans
What an amazing narrator
I'm sad to say but the codex does not have a voice in andromeda
wow glad I never bought
Andromeda doesnt give a crap about the lore so its ok. They were too busy writing witty one liners during all the action.
@@Lee86THUNDER I liked the game for being a mass effect fan . It's good for what it is.

I hope to god this returns for mass effect Andromeda. As a Space nerd this was on my favorite aspects of the games. Love the lore behind every detail.
Nayden yes, bad thing is that they mess up with it at will...
Nayden unfortunately they're back but are not narrated.
Am currently making supper lisitening to this.
Mass effect was amazing, I loved every minute of the original trilogy.
This right here is the voice I hear when reading instructions for anything.
This is a simple yet fantastic upload. I listen to it in the car alot. Thank you.

Lots of times I read my textbooks in this voice in my head
Man i miss the first time i played Mass Effect 3
This is great and relaxing for falling to sleep to
These are so going to help when me and a friend of mine work on starting up a Mass Effect RPG
Most replayed entry is the Banshee which makes total sense! Terrifying!
Let's be honest, you came here for 55:09
44:05 so biotics is the ability to change the bonds between molecules, atoms and subatomic particles at a distance and thereby creating force fields.
I'm gonna watch this just because it exists.
The wikipedia page on humans reads like this journal. :D

This is the voice actor of Shipwreck from GI JOE cartoon.
This helps me a lot with my fan-fictions! Also I'd hate to be an engineered baby like Miranda was.
I wish David attenburg would narrate this
I guess I'm just scared to use Mass Effect characters in fear I'll mess something up.
I could listen to Neil Ross read a phonebook.
Well their always about my own OCs, but their of course set in the Mass Effect universe. I tend to always do Human/Alien romances though.
Kuwabara, kuwabara!
Thank you so much ^^
this is actually awesome
I swear I thought there was a voiced codex entry for the Yahg...
Very nice
Bro, is that ProZD?
