Blue & Copper Leaf Dot Mandala - Tutorial - Step by Step

- Watch me paint this hexagon Blue and Copper Leaf printed Dot Mandala step by step... these videos are done to give you some inspiration to create your own personal designs... I have used a mixture of leaf printing and dotting on this design to create something different from just a dot mandala... it was so much fun and I would suggest you give it a go...
Paints used in this video are Global Paints in Metallic Copper, White and Scuba Diver (this was a limited edition paint and may no longer be available) all mixed with Pouring Medium at a ratio of 3 parts paint and 1 part pouring medium with a touch of water... and just plain Black for the Background...
The board used here is a hexagon stretched canvas 78cms x 89cms with the middle circle measuring 21cms and the outer edge circle measuring 47cms... but this design could also easily be done on a square canvas...
The guidelines are drawn using a watercolour pencil... rings are very roughly 1cm apart... some do vary as these are used as a guide only so you get all the strokes even... add as many circles as you like... the more lines you make the more reference points you have to make your work even...
The Ball Stylus Dotting tools I am using in the video are from the McGill Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and the dotting rods are from Happy Dotting Company...

Wasn't sure where this was going at the beginning of the video...but I really liked where it ended up.
(I also really like the extended or elongated dot's created by the (for the lack of a better word or or knowledge of what you're actually using) that's created by the tongue depressor

I have done leaf style mandalas for many years but never used actual leaves... but, when I discovered her website my mind started ticking... so, I had to leave her link so everyone else could get the same inspiration and maybe blend the two different paint styles whatever they may be... it was soooo much fun! 🥰

In one of nine I had the leaves go over the edges so the pattern can be seen on the edges too. I forget to splatter 😂

Use a ball doting tool to press the leaves 🤷♀️It might work

I found shadows difficult to do.
It's amazing how much difference a bit of shadowing does... I find you do develop a bit of a technique the more you do it... you will find something that works well for you... some paints work better than others... I like using a high flow paint that has been watered down further... I think I feel another leaf painting on the horizon! mmm... 🤔🥰
