(which also has a version on the clear web) Again he does good work but trying to make it seem like what he does is "crazy shit" is kinda silly when there were people exposing some of the nastiest deepweb sites on youtube before it became a popular topic. And My man Danooct1 has been doing virus stuff for 9 years on TH-cam. I'm glad for the content Muta puts out because it is quantity but I'm not coming here to learn anything lol
The only people who consider what Muta to be doing as "crazy shit" are those who use Reddit. All of that shit you listed is normie tier nonsense, and its not his fault, the real "crazy shit" wouldn't bring any revenue on TH-cam.
Funnily enough, it's not even "Original Characters" he's trying to protect (none exist in the game IIRC, dunno why you'd assume they were) All it is is about Sprite Edits. Yes, it's actually that petty. Almost hypocritical, considering he doesn't even own the characters.
Also OC's from games, are actually NOT protected by fair use, especially these piss-poor sprite edits. SEGA should slam down their IP hammer of the gods on this swampdonkey.
What I think is that the whole thing about it being DRM and even the claim about OC stealing is an excuse- a lie the creator told *himself* just so he can sleep at night, when in reality, the real reason he implemented so much shit is simply because he wanted to feel what it was like to have power and control over people. We all have to remember that whenever it comes to authority and law, the term "work smarter, not harder" is not a convenience, it is a *moral obligation.*
Rather surprised the Sonic people don't hack him back for copyright infringement. Surely they can create a package that carries back to him that does something equally nasty to him.
I've disassembled the core dump of this after I have crashed it. It sends all information it can find in your pc to this onion address: 2gxxzwnj52jutais You may now have fun ruining an idiot's life.

Correction, this guy slightly edited the original sprites that he "ripped" from the sonic fighting game and put the DRM there to stop others from "stealing" the sprites....sprites that he himself stole from SEGA.
Which is a combination of fault - half going to those who are too stupid to know the difference between "some," and "all," and the other half going to apathetic people who don't see how those generalizing are part of, if not the largest chunk, of the problem.
Also hell being a furry. People find a fan base they don't like then they look at a tiny group that does something wrong to blame the entire community on

@@ivyiouspoison2815 There was a version that used to have bad stuff in it such as malware, gore, CP (the part that made it illegal) but the clean one got rid of that stuff.
Imagine being so insecure about your assets(which are literally recolors of existing assets made by SEGA/Sonic Team/Dimps) that you put a DRM so messed up in your game to Protect Them.
As a representative of the Sonic Fangame community, I apologize for that asshole's malware activities. Many of you might not exactly be aware, but we do have standards as to what constitutes a proper fangame and a proper etiquete as to how to handle it. The really sad part though, is that this isn't the first time a Sonic fan has done this. Back in the day when Sonic 2 HD was still around, they only had one programmer who was extremely paranoid about people hacking the game once it released, and as such added in so much unnecesary DRM that it killed the project for several years before finally reviving last year. Personally, the way I see it: Fangames as a whole should not have DRM in it, period. IDGAF if you make Mario, Metroid, Sonic, or Pokemon fangames. You're taking and making shit that is not 100% yours to begin with, therefore recolors and remixes are not allowed to be 100% originally yours. That's why that remixes usually give credit to the original makers of the song, even though they were not involved in the remix however. The original source materials is 100% that of the company that owns the rights to the Intellectual Property. It does piss me off that there's "artists" out there who take work that was already done by someone else and essentially trace around it and plagiarize the source material, calling it original and that it's 100% theirs. but otherwise, I do want people reading this comment to know that the Sonic fanbase actually does have a mature section that has standards and doesn't light up a stick of dynamite every time they see a opinion. In fact, the majority of the Fangame community *abhors* Sonic Gather Battle, often citing it as the absolute worst fangame of any franchise ever created. And that's saying something, as I've seen a lot of really terrible fangames from multiple franchises.
>9 months late but oh well Ah yes, I remember that part in DDLC where you would get your private information leaked to some dark web corner of the net for checking the game files with Cheat Engine. [sarcasm intended] The closest this game does is detect if you're recording with OBS in the near ending of it. Plus it also announces in the Steam store page that it's a horror game disguised as a dating simulator. Sorry for my tantrum here but I really thought that mentioning another innocent creator and comparing it to some insecure asshole like the one who made the fangame would be a bit overkill.
You know, I was there when everything broke out. It was absolutely hilarious, I tell you. Back in the SFGHQ chat, peopl already knew about Gather Battle's dev, and most people knew he was kind of a jerk. He would constantly rant and rave about people using his sprites, and rarely interacted with anybody in the SAGE community, I'm pretty sure he was even banned from the server. Regardless, if you actually looked at what he was competing against, what he was basing it on, and the games before him, it was pretty easy to just write Gather Battle off as mediocre. However, when Zeroshift finally extracted the game, I was laughing so hard. The dev was an absolute madman about keeping his sprites intact, even though most of them are just Sonic Battle edits. All in all, it was hilarious
I'm glad you're getting the word out there Mutahar. I've been in the know with this game since the first time he released it and tried pulling it from the web because of "muh sprites" (which, by the way, aren't even his). Hopefully the justice system can take care of his scrawny childish ass.

Really? He had a whole "protection software" in his "FANGAME" because he didn't want no one using his sprites of a character that doesn't even belong to him in the first place to begin with. He should've thought more carefully because you can still get the sprites by screenshoting gameplay and taking away all the background except for the sprite in Photoshop or something. Even then, people wouldn't go that far for some Sonic sprites, the creator was being way to paranoid about his sprites and he had to take it the extra mile. I can understand if its like a completely original game with original story and stuff, but seriously its a FANGAME nothing belongs to you except for the idea that brought you into making the fangame. Plus I actually think its pretty cool when people use your sprites outside your own game ya know.
KOMIC SOFTWARE the "Red Ghost Protection" part is alright, atleast without the Registry Testing, Browser Testing and all the invasive systems of it... but you should be able to ATLEAST reinstall the game (and fix it with that) and share saves.
> 8 months late The sprite thing, you can spend hours designing the sprites and then someone just steals it in a minute without hard work put into it It's art theft honestly
It's truly disgusting even after all this time that this person would actively mess with the hardware where of user's computers and let the game install a virus so his precious little slightly altered stolen sprites could have accommodation. They're sprites from a GBA game Sonic Battle he doesn't own the rights to them which makes it immensely scummy.
All this because the guy didnt want people to steal his sprites, which werent even original sprites but EDITS of the Sonic Battle sprites. And the sprites were ripped almost right away anyway, this whole mess only got people to blacklist him and his game, and even more people to spread his ripped sprites out of spite. Months, years spent making a video game and now its considered a virus all across the board and its all it will known as from now on and. Noone will ever want to touch it again Good job.
This Dev could have been someone: his fangame shows he is pretty good with codes, thus he could have been a decent Grey Hat Hacker. Instead, he files a Drm hack because " ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NO STEAL!". Hurrdurr.
GTdba wait wait what? No not a grey hat, they try to be good, and they hack for the good of people, but pretty often it's still illegal. He could be a white hat hacker, or 'pentester'(penetration tester). He still has a chance to recover from this stunt... But I'll give you this - with how untrackable he is he could be a grey hat actually...
Lil Spagat Already not even interested in a bland game. Now they are just milking the game even more, why I can't even block this add and replace it with an add I like TH-cam?
PROTIP: never give admin privileges to something unless you know what it does. Also, check the source you're getting the program from. Open-Source software (say Libreoffice) is unlikely to have malware when you get it from the developer's official site, and even if you were skeptical, you could always either compile it yourself, or read the source code.
It's really sad how many insane people there are in the Sonic Fandom, there's so much of them I would not be surprised if people didn't know that kind and good Sonic Fans existed too. Every fandom has their good and bad people some have it far worse than others, thanks for the heads up on this.

Denuvo never stops piracy, only delays it for a bit. EDIT: Denuvo in of itself is an interesting topic, perhaps Muta could look further into it for a future video?
As someone who played the game, I can tell you that the game was good, it's a shame that the dumb creator added viruses to it, I had to reinstall windows.
To Ordinary, When I discovered your channel I watched your videos all day. They were so scary and interesting. They also taught me something, to watch your back on the web. Thank you for teaching me about these threats in a entertaining manner. ~ Jake
I remember reading about that Sonic fan game. Those anti-piracy measures were a little terrifying. Ghosts and the creepy American Sonic CD boss theme? Those sound like a good reason for me not to even download that game.
I like the way Cities Skylines' developers approached piracy. They decided to leave it alone and they decided offering such a good experience from the original game that eventually people noticed they would have to go through much more work to have it going compared to the legit version. That's the way piracy should be approached, kudos to them.

MUSiCK ➈ reminds me of the gba Godzilla game. Except that one sucked because megalon was blue and gigan was...... Absent. More absent than my dad............
Actually it didn't start from someone stealing his characters it was actually from someone ripping his custom sprites for Sonic and Co. in the game which led to him trying to find ways to prevent people from modding or stealing from his game.
I mean, simply making a fan game already breaking a law, but nobody cares about that because it would create a bad PR unless the fan game made a lot of money.
"never give a program administrator privileges " me who didn't know anything about computers before and gived every pirated game these privileges: *sweating profusely * man, I founnd your channel just an hour ago and feels like I hit the jackpot! I really like this kind of videos and finding your channel was amazing, I'm gonna binge-watch everything! haha Awesome video man!!
I heard about that too the guy only did that because he didn't want people stealing "his" sprites when the sprites are from sonic advance or sonic battle either one
Well I mean...from what I gathered from other people's posts before this whole scandal unraveled, they said this game was pretty damn good, fun, and polished. Maybe they aren't taking this whole thing as seriously as they should be, and are instead focusing on the actual GAME part of their game? And who's to say the team isn't backpedaling from their mistakes and working to remove the DRM from the game?
I love that he clearly reads the comments and listens to suggestions. normally that's a sarcastic statement up the ass, but for Mutahar, it's actually true.
@ Nah, I'm just intelligent enough to know that aliens don't even know we exist, let alone know about our interests. We do a lot more complex things than this. Assuming I'm saying that purely because I'm a Sonic fan is beyond ignorant and illogical.
This guy didn't get pissed about stolen OC's, but, from what I've heard he saw some people gathering ROMs for fan games and after many types of changes, redistributing them as their own, removing code equivalents of watermarks and replacing them with their names instead. The changes varied from fixing coding errors, causing errors and killcode scripts, modifying engines to add or remove features, and many other ideas. the developer of Gather Battle used his DRM to teach the hackers a lesson and abused his coding ability. He is no longer welcome in any coding or game creating circles within the Sonic the Hedgehog fanbase and community.
You know, were it not for the whole "the creator of the game has access to your computer, monitors your browsing sessions and has your IP address" thing, that would have made a very interesting, not to mention unique, anti-cheat feature- try to cheat or edit the game's files, and the game will go all creepypasta on your ass.
I remember seeing another video about this. The fact that the dude went through such measures to make sure his sprite edits weren’t stolen blows my mind.
I would like to say that it's just an excuse and the real reason is that he just wants others to experience the game the way he intends them to and not have others improve the game with mods. But I'm probably wrong, and maybe he really is that protective of his fucking OCs. Don't underestimate how crazy a Sonic fan is. I would know; I'm one of them, and I'm still waiting for a remake of Sonic and the Black Knight.
This isn't really about the creator's OC's, none exist in that game. It is, however about his custom sprites, asshole constantly called people out on deviantart for recreating even single sprites that looked like his in any way. Talk about overprotection.
EDIT: Just to clear something up, and I hope Muta reads this before this leads into anymore unnecessary fuel to the fangaming community, the reasoning for the malware wasn't due to OCs, the closest thing the files in the game had to an OC was a empty file with the name of that guy from Sonic RPG. This in no way reflects what the rest of the community thinks or does. Before people start spreading around that every sonic fan is like this, because people are that ignorant about the fanbase, let me say a few things. This game used to be called SonicVSLf2, by a person named SonicBleachFan. He stole/made custom spritework that he was very defensive against. Even though most of the sprites are from official titles and various users (including some of mine). SBF is VERY ridiculous, threatening to hack people who confronted him, and resulted in Sonic Gather Battle. Please understand that not everyone in the fan game community is some hacker. I see it already with people making hyperbolic statements. Then again, people are very hostile against anyone who even enjoys Sonic, so just heed my message.
The game was good... until the creator dicided to put a Virus in the game without anyone knowing about it, like, why would someone do that only for Sprites!?!?
"There is no analysis possible for this title." Not true at all. You've only tried running it, not disassembling or looking at the data sector. There's more to malware analysis than running it.
Muta tried to Informed you about this topic for a little over 3 weeks. Glad your finally doing it Edit: Oh you found the game. Its sucks you couldnt do the analysis test but good video man, you got the word out there. Deep clean those computers ✊
As someone who is aspiring to work in the IT industry, I found your video to be very fascinating and informative. I didn't realize that malware can be programmed so that it's smart enough to know when the user is attempting to run it in a safe environment (i.e. a virtual machine), and I didn't know about the caveat that can bypass VPN's. This is some quality content for both gamers and IT/Computer Science majors. Well done sir.

@Gaming Fan Rio SPOOPY EYES XD
What I think is that the whole thing about it being DRM and even the claim about OC stealing is an excuse- a lie the creator told *himself* just so he can sleep at night, when in reality, the real reason he implemented so much shit is simply because he wanted to feel what it was like to have power and control over people.
We all have to remember that whenever it comes to authority and law, the term "work smarter, not harder" is not a convenience, it is a *moral obligation.*
Rather surprised the Sonic people don't hack him back for copyright infringement. Surely they can create a package that carries back to him that does something equally nasty to him.

Correction, this guy slightly edited the original sprites that he "ripped" from the sonic fighting game and put the DRM there to stop others from "stealing" the sprites....sprites that he himself stole from SEGA.
MegaRazorback he said that near the end of the video 👍
This is why it's literal hell to be a Sonic fan. You get associated with people like the person who made Sonic Gather Battle.
Which is a combination of fault - half going to those who are too stupid to know the difference between "some," and "all," and the other half going to apathetic people who don't see how those generalizing are part of, if not the largest chunk, of the problem.
Also hell being a furry. People find a fan base they don't like then they look at a tiny group that does something wrong to blame the entire community on

this man is an enigma.
Personally, the way I see it:
Fangames as a whole should not have DRM in it, period.
Dan Salvato, I didn’t know you made a sonic fan game.
>9 months late but oh well
Ah yes, I remember that part in DDLC where you would get your private information leaked to some dark web corner of the net for checking the game files with Cheat Engine. [sarcasm intended]
The closest this game does is detect if you're recording with OBS in the near ending of it. Plus it also announces in the Steam store page that it's a horror game disguised as a dating simulator.
Sorry for my tantrum here but I really thought that mentioning another innocent creator and comparing it to some insecure asshole like the one who made the fangame would be a bit overkill.
Eliane Pinheiro Ah, I remember reading the tags and going “did someone troll this game or something? It’s not a horror game- WHAT?!”

Despite the fact that this happened well over 3 months ago so its not really news whatsoever.

It should disable once you 100% the game
KOMIC SOFTWARE with the feeling you described about people using your sprites, I know how that feels.

> 8 months late
The sprite thing, you can spend hours designing the sprites and then someone just steals it in a minute without hard work put into it
It's art theft honestly
It's truly disgusting even after all this time that this person would actively mess with the hardware where of user's computers and let the game install a virus so his precious little slightly altered stolen sprites could have accommodation. They're sprites from a GBA game Sonic Battle he doesn't own the rights to them which makes it immensely scummy.
The Nex Reviews he also stole without editing a lot of Mario & Luigi super star saga sprites
Noone will ever want to touch it again
