Don't be scared of the Dagmar! I always think cable charts look horrendously difficult until I'm past knitting the first few repeats. I almost never read a knitting pattern before I start, because I usually can't map it out in my head, and then I overthink it, but once I have the knitting in front of me it makes sense. Petiteknit patterns are usually deceptively simple, so I believe in you!
Thank you for your VLOGs. Yours are the first videos I check for on TH-cam when I get on my iPad. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to while knitting. Thank you for doing these. Love to see your sweet purchases-the lovely little mushrooms and Tea towels. I missed the DK Natural sock update. This base in fingering and DK is so perfect. And your gorgeous natural dyeing is icing on the cake. Have a wonderful Autumn!! And I looked up the Dagmar cardigan/Jacket and it will be beautiful and worth all your time.
That’s a fantastic colour you’re using for your chestnut sweater! Thanks for another lovely video. It was nice to spend some time with you while I took a little break for lunch 😊
Lovely episode! I love tea towels-it’s a real personal treat and they make me smile so many times during my day-memories of when/where I brought them and how much I love them. ❤❤❤
I love hearing you ponder on the new pattern….. I speak to myself and deliberate over swatching…. Yarn …. Pattern etc etc The flowers in the garden look amazing too
I always wait in eager anticipation for your episodes, they are great. It’s lovely to see all of the things you are knitting and have in the business pipeline. I see on the woolly thistle vlogs you are also collaborating with them on their Christmas box. Congratulations on all you are achieving it’s an inspiration ❤️
Ok I am now going to go to the Wooly Thistle to catch up and order your kit! Look forward to your videos Emma! You create such beautiful colors if yarn 🧶 ❤
What an absolutely wonderful vlog, and the studio looks amazing. I'm making a hot beverage with blackcurrant and echinacea. It's so nice to watch your videos while I'm knitting on this relaxed autumn evening 🍂🍄🍁☕🕯
Was wondering where Rufus was…and was relieved to see him at the very end! That cheesecake 💛 🍋 I made elderberry syrup for the first time last week (the birds snatched all of them previously!), no gin 😮 but wish I’d put a cinnamon stick in it. My daughter is already testing it on her sniffles. That mushroom stitch marker is adorable!
Dagmar is a beauty. I'm sure you can make it, Emma, if you don't mind dealing with inevitable oopsies and uh-ohs. Use lifelines! Personally, I just want to knit knit knit simple pieces with lovely yarn and few challenges.
Lovely vlog! I am also about to casting on the Dagmar jacket as well as having my second baby any time now so I am extra nervous because I really don’t know how that will go haha 😂 cables with a 3 years old and a newborn… I swatched and I don’t even know how to properly count rows. But the cables are not very complicated honestly! I swatched for the honeycomb cable as well as the other cable that she recommends swatching for, mostly to get a feel of the fabric
Send me the cheesecake. I think you need to make an Autumnal box to make accessories and include the cute stitch markers.Dagmar, what’s the worse….you have to keep starting again. You are fearless, go for it
You'll be fine knitting the Dagmar jacket. The cables are not too numerous, and the honeycomb stitches are very stretchy. She always has a lot of ease built into her sweaters, so it would be okay if your gauge is a little bit tighter than hers. If your gauge is looser, you may want to go down a sweater size or a needle size. I've used the u-shaped and bent cable needles, but I want to try the type that is a tiny two-ended needle with a bendable connection made by Prym. I don't like the idea of doing cables without a cable needle. Whenever I watch demonstrations of doing cables without them, it seems like the person is doing a lot of fiddly steps just to avoid slipping stitches onto a cable needle. You will start to see the pattern develop, especially in the honeycomb sections, so you will know where the cables need to move next.
I didn’t use a cable needle for a while but it’s just because I was doing little ones and I would just drop the two stitches off the needles completely. Obviously that doesn’t work well on road trips or for large cables but it worked. Have you tried using a stitch marker or Bobby pin for smaller cables? I also like that for small cables because it isn’t as bulky as a Cable needle. But for a bunch of cables I definitely prefer the proper tool!😂
Lovely to see a vlog from you! My kids are 15&12 and I miss those days of them going to bed at 6:30pm and not having to communicate with them until the morning 😂

Thanks for joining me Alex!
You can do it! Her patterns always intimidate me too 😊
Im making swatches now for the dagmar jacket. The cables are very simple and memorizeable. Trying to pick the best yarn use

Yes I am! That was what I was doing all summer, and couldn't show on here! Hoping everyone loves it!
I make elderberry syrup most years. Never thought of making it into a hot drink. Love that.
7am in Québec, what a great way to start my day . Love your videos would love one day visit Ireland. Thank you 🙏
Have a lovely day!
Everything was so lovely - thanks Emma!
I always found cables easy and loved to knit them. I never,on the other hand, tried any of the multi colour knits that you do.
Hello from Australia
It's like colouring in with stockinette! I still haven't cast on!! Too nervous!
@@woollymammothfibresbe brave and just do it. If it doesn't work, you can pull it out.
I use flexi grip needles (normally for socks) as a cable needle as the stitches don’t slide off easily

Happy Birthday to me! I scored some of the DK- thinking about doing Sweater no. 27 (my favourite knitwear)
your cooking always looks so delicious!
Thank you! That's very kind!
Cables are easy Emma you can do it.
I was wondering what sweater you are wearing in the beginning of the video? The pattern is beautiful!!
The Petite Knitter Evergrey I think!
What sweater are you wearing in this video? It’s gorgeous
Could be the evergrey by the petite knitter ❤
If there are repeats in the stitch pattern mark them out with stitch markers. That way you’ll know where you are all the time x

@@woollymammothfibres I will regret this 😂
@@woollymammothfibres If you are interested, I just saw that Svenja knits is knitting one in her last video :) very encouraging!

So true. And I won't even have wasted time because even if it does go wrong I will have learned something!
The Dagmar is my 3rd cable pattern and it’s actually pretty easy! Don’t be intimidated by the charts, they are easier than they look

I just use a DPN needles for cables. No need to buy a special cable needle
