I have been riding for just over 50 years. I started out on Triumphs (69 Trident, 73 650 Bonneville, 850 Commando, 73 750 Bonneville, 75 T160 Trident, 73 750 Tiger) until I bought a 97 883 Sportster in 2007. I don’t care if some people think it’s a girl’s bike, it has taken me all over eastern Australia, including several trips from Melbourne to the Gold Coast and never let me down. Last year it turned 25, so I gave it a ground up rebuild; wheel bearings, re-laced wheels, headstock bearings, front and rear suspension upgrades, complete engine rebuild, including a Hammer Performance 1275 conversion, upgraded clutch, oil pump, and a rewire, removing extraneous wires and relocation of ignition switch and coil (to beneath the battery box and on the left hand side between the heads respectively) had the tank and guards resprayed and added an LED headlight. I get many compliments when I’m out and about. I did all the work except for the paint job myself and that makes it all the sweeter when I’m on the road. I don’t ride to please others, just myself, so I’m happy. Like this channel. Keep it up mate.
I recently found your channel, the title grabbed my attention. I am older than you and not dead either, at 72 this year and riding 50 years. We were never meant to be alone as humans. Unfortunately youth and naivety go hand in hand. Most of us as we age gain the wisdom to see we are all the same when it comes down to the basics, and become more open minded, speak less, listen more, and ask questions in a way to learn something new while giving a kind word of compliment. I believe us "older folks" have the stewardship of teaching the youth these things in order for them to make the most of their lives in a positive way. There are lots off bad things happening all the time, all over the world, but without evil there can be no good and we could not appreciate the good without the bad. Still most of us do the same things no matter where we come from, just in a different way. I hope when I retire I can visit the land down under, and do it on a Harley. My first glimpse of Australia was watching the Paul Hogan Show on PBS in the early 1980's, as a very young boy I absolutely loved his character "Super Dag". I'd love to ride the entire country and learn how you Harley guys do your stops, hanging out at the best "Biker Joints" eating the best Australian local foods, drinking, carrying on and learning the culture. I've lived and worked in Las Vegas NV for over 30 years and I can tell you the Australians I've met visiting our city over the years are a very fun and friendly lot. I promise not to act like Super Dag when I visit!
It seems like when I’m on a Harley all those troubles disappear as you mentioned in another video it’s a unexplainable feeling . I’m a new b. But I have felt that way when I’m riding all my troubles disappear

Great video and wise words but....... as we get older and the young kids are not riding Harley's anymore or even riding bikes at all, it's a matter of time before it all ends. At least that's how it looks overhere in Europe. 🤐
For the most part, if you want to understand the division we self inflict, follow the money. The other part of that division is Ego. I find at the core most bikers tend to get along until one of those two topics is broached.
I have found the Harley Community to be basically a group of clique. If you are not a member of one of the clicks you are like you're not there. Smug and self-righteous, judgemental. They want you to conform to their standards. Very vocal about your choice of motorcycle especially if it is not considered to be the right kind of motorcycle. Country Club type who think that their shit does not stink. Nose in the air looking down on everybody else.
@@OldNotDead-Club maybe in Europe it might be different but in America a Harley is a chrome penis extension for an old fart who is spine is as limp as his penis and who has more money than God. Too many people manage their lives based on emotions, rather than facts and logic. How many people subscribe to media (newspapers, magazines, etc.) that help to keep them informed of local and world issues? How many make an effort to investigate the issues behind the politics, and what the politicians actually stand for. Yet so many are aware of what's going on in the Internet, even when its full of misinformation, and outright lies. Democracy exists because we fought for it. We did not want to be dominated by a King's whim. We wanted to determine how our tax money is spent. What has changed is politics is more controlled by those who try to 'spin' how they're out for the little guy, all the while cutting taxes to the Corporations and wealthy, where the majority of their campaign funds come from. Yes, the trend has been that the Corporations and wealthy fund all the lobbyists who actually get all the government their money can buy... Our democracies are in danger, and if we let those (primarily right-wing & Conservatives) gain control, they'll do whatever they can to ensure their vested interests come first, and those interests (the Corporations and wealthy) are that they gain advantage, at the cost of everyone else losing their rights and freedoms. There are reasons why Corporations continue to grow bigger and richer, while everyone else is struggling to hold their own... Stay informed, and stay active to demand your politicians are actually looking out for you...
Hey, I like the premise, but in my mind it should pertain to the bikes as well. Why does everybody in your vlog have to own and ride all the newer Harleys. There are plenty of people world-wide riding old Harleys into their "golden years". They have paved the way.
