Agreed - though it may have evolved into something new as the years progressed, Cinemasacre is either still just as good or better than when it was originally shat out by Mike & James. [:=
Back in 2006 we posted videos a lot less that's for sure. Used to be a couple a month. Now we do several videos a week. I'm also very excited that since Monster Madness ended, James is now doing a weekly show. Check out his Wizard of Oz review to see the latest one! -Mike
Did he used to record Monster Madness all year then? doing it bit by bit in preparation? I remember he said something about it and I am sad that MM has ended, but I never realised how much work went into until he mentioned it in the finally.
Often times we get e-mails from people that say they have not been notified of our newest videos. That’s probably because you have not clicked on the bell! To get notified of every video we put out, you must click the bell icon when you subscribe to our channel. Then, checkmark “allow notifications” and click SAVE. Never miss a Cinemassacre video again!
I like how James just refused to listen to any of Mike's tips on how to play.... "yeah, you can't let the coyote fall too far behind and off the screen because he'll get his rocket skates" ::James repeatedly lets the coyote fall behind and off of the screen:: "You need to get all the seeds so you don't run out" ::James just runs past pile after pile of seeds, runs out before end of level:: wash.rinse.repeat. Oh, James...lol
Anthony Shuker relax, friend. it was just amusing that it seemed like he was ignoring what Mike was telling him to do. Just having fun teasing them. No need swooping in to defend their honor like people were hurting their feelings. Its cool man.
The seed meter isn't based on time or how much seed you get, it's based on the seed you miss. Every time one exits the screen to the right due to scrolling, the meter moves. Miss five and you lose. That's it.
Zythinal1 That's because there are some moments like in the second stage where 2 are at the same horizontal plane but different vertical planes and registered as 5th lost while going past the normal marker. That or they lost a life and went past another.
Mike always brings up these random topics and asks James if he remembers, and James is always like, "Ohh... yeah!" My theory is James has no clue what Mike is talking about 90% of the time, but plays it off.
I usually just take it that James isn't paying close attention and is focusing on playing. I mean, Mike was giving James advice throughout this episode, and James didn't seem to have registered most of it.
mugglesmonster AND I USED TO THINK THAT THEY ARE RELATED! But..... Unfortunately they are not..... Fucking idiots from the 1940s and their bullshit rules of segregation of no relation....
9:44 Fucking hysterical. I love how Mike doesn't even say anything to James. He just lets the double entendre go, and the joke is between just him and the audience. Lol. That face.
Holy shiiiit I haven't seen or thought of this game in about 25 years. My parents used to rent it for me every now and then from the little mom and pop video store near our house. The nostalgia is strong.
@Cinemassacre I realized as I was watching why you kept on dying from the seed: You guys were thinking of it as fuel that would keep you going (in a good game that would make sense). What's really going on (what I noticed at about the 11:00 mark) was that every time you would fail to pick up one of the seeds, your seed meter would deplete. So it isn't about refueling with the seeds, it's about not letting the seeds go offscreen. Mike, you were more correct than you realized about needing to get every single one. Every seed pile you miss gets you closer to death.
I can't believe they played this game so long and never got the seed dynamic... basically, eating seed doesn't increase your seed meter, running past seed and letting it hit the right side of the screen reduces the seed meter. It's like a life bar and you take a hit every time you miss some seed. Oh, and I never saw this game before, thanks again for these videos, I love watching you both sit down and play some old game and I appreciate your banter a lot.
Even if I am 22 years old I grew up with Looney Toons and Tom&Jerry cartoons and I am so glad I had the chance to watch them as a kid!Great video guys!
I really love hearing Mike talk about cartoons, he knows so much about the subject. It would be great if one day he made a video about the history of cartoons, or maybe a primer on classic cartoons, for those (like me) who missed most of the older stuff.
They made a Road Runner game about clumsily navigating a maze, while not moving very fast. The main challenge seems to wrestling with the controls to hit the bird seeds and avoid getting stuck on edges. Awesome.
Hey Mike, when you were talking about cat and mouse shows you neglected to mention Herman and Katnip, the inspiration for Itchy and Scratchy. There was also Punkin' Puss & Mushmouse and Cattanooga Cats by Hanna-Barbera.
I always loved this game growing up. I think it's actually pretty fun. And once you die the first time, they give you a "short cut" right at the beginning of the game so you don't have to redo the earlier levels.
I've played this, the Commodore 64 version (which is closer to the arcade), the Atari 2600 version, AND the arcade version of this. When Wile E Coyote gets the helicoptor and throws dynamite I wanted to rip someone apart. The worst part of the game is when you have to jump over cliffs. SO FREAKING HARD!
Sheep Raaider was also named Sheep, Dog n' Wolf depending on the region. I had that game as a child, it was great, but some of the puzzles were really challenging for me back then. Road Runner IS in it by the way, but only as a bit of a cameo (unless he shows up more than once. I never finished the game).
As a kid, I used to rent this game a lot. I always was unhappy about being unable to find it available to buy anywhere. I was also pretty good at it, too. I also loved the music from the 3rd level. Used to pause the game just to listen to it.
This reminded me of that family guy episode. Willie was having a conversation with one of his friends. His friend said, so you spent your whole life trying to catch that bird, what are you doing now. Willie is now a waiter.
As a kid i had a gameboy. One day a friend of mine showed me Road Runner on his Sega GameGear. I was absolutely blown away. I really wanted a GameGear back then :P
The arcade roadrunner was pretty damn good, hard as nails. Right up there with Willow and Empire Strikes Back. Good enough to drop a quarter in and give it a try, bad enough to walk away and spend the rest of the roll on Xmen or TMNT.
If you guys didn't notice, the seed meter decreases only when you miss a seed pile. You can only miss 5 seeds before you get stunned. It doesn't matter how many are actually eaten.
I had this game on my C64. I thought it was rather ok. The biggest difference that I can see is that on the C64 version the seed-o-meter would actually show a dead Roadrunner when you run out of seed, while on this one it simply drops its head in the bowl. Also, the music on C64 was far better, if a bit too relentless.
The seed piles don't give you time, they count how much you've missed. Every time a missed pile of seed goes off screen it hurts you. Time is in addition - if you take too much time running around in between eating then a bowl goes away, too. The aim, if I remember right, is you can't miss more than 4 piles of seed per life.
I really hope an AVGN episode comes out of this, maybe paired with other Looney Tunes games, it's been a while since the nerd last beat the crap out of bugs bunny.
I have Sheep Raider. The back of the packaging actually mentions that Road Runner does make an appearance in that game (I haven't gotten to that point in the game).
I've never played this game, but it was too hard. The object is to control the Road Runner to get away from Wile E Coyote before he gets you. Just like "Pac-Man" where you can run through the maze by eating dots and gets power pellets for points, and "Pac-Man" was an awesome game than this one, or "Popeye" where you can chase Bluto (Brutus) to collect hearts, music notes and letters like H, E, L, P which is a really good game than this one. It was based off the cartoon series and also a port of an arcade game by Atari in 1983 or 1984 during the "Video Game Crash" and made by Tengen. Tengen made really good unlicensed NES, a few of these were licensed games with the standard NES cartridge before it went unlicensed. Tengen made "Gauntlet", "RBI Baseball", "After Burner", and many more including the original "Tetris" in which Tengen did, and it was a great game and it is hard to find, because Nintendo released a better version of "Tetris" and it was different than the Tengen version.
I vaguely recall playing this at the arcade. I remember a few years later, I was at a video store and saw this and regretted that I didn't rent it, as I was a big fan of Road Runner not to mention the fact that I figured it'd be easy to win because Wile E. Coyote always fails to catch the Road Runner.
There was a skating rink where I grew up that had this game in the arcade section, and i actually enjoyed the coin op version of this..later when i found it on the NES I was pissed at how different it was
I really wanted to play this as a kid. My cousin rented it and did not say much about it being good or bad. We never judged games that harshly. Yes James, I would rather be Wile E Coyote.
4:50 "Maybe catch something easier, like a rabbit." You mean like Bugs Bunny? Yeah, he tried that. Even by being super genius and being able to talk, he didn't manage to catch him.
Benjamin Brown "I'll be more aggressive ontop." - James to Mike during their Contra episode playthrough. I think that was right about the time they did change it from "Play" to "Mondays" XD
I had this on Atari ST. As I remember, seeds were easier to get. I got good at the game too, despite it being frustrating at parts. Then one time I got really far. Wile E. fell off a bridge. Then I stepped on a mine. Wile E. couldn't get me, and I couldn't do anything, so I was stuck there forever. I had to reset and lose all that progress. I also loved the Road Runner cartoons more than any of the Looney Toons.
when I was a kid I didn't even consider the road runner a character, he wasn't even in the cartoons much, it was mainly Willey and his crazy acme purchases. I agree, would be much more fun catching the stupid bird.
James: "You just got some seed" Mike: "I know, it doesn't last at all!" James: "Not even a second!" And James just ate a lot of fucking seed. Now the image is complete. Thanks for that, Mike. :P
Even though I've always loved the Bugs Bunny cartoons for as long as I could remember, I actually liked the Road Runner cartoons even more when I was a kid, and there was not a single one that I didn't like; In fact, the only time I didn't like the cartoons was when they were over with, especially because I've always wanted to see more of Wile E. Coyote failing to catch the Road Runner in many hilarious ways. ;)
Have you guys ever played "Desert Speedtrap Starring Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote" for the Sega Master System/Game Gear? It had some awesome graphics and, althought not perfect, was fairly playable. Try checking this out!
the longest channel ive been subscribed to and its still just as good as it was a decade ago

Shout-outs to NicoVideo! Sometimes I watch it on there just to see you guys react.
Awesome stuff Mike, keep up the great work!
"I just ate a fucking lot of seed" - James
Numb Mind Mike's face was gold XD
I dont get whats funny. He was eating a lot of seeds
seed is innuendo for semen
My guess is that seed can also mean semen, and than it's funny.
That phrase might've pulled some chuckle out of me, but Mike's reaction to it downright killed me. :D

Cinemassacre hey
miss you guys, need to make a comeback
I like how James just refused to listen to any of Mike's tips on how to play....
"yeah, you can't let the coyote fall too far behind and off the screen because he'll get his rocket skates"
::James repeatedly lets the coyote fall behind and off of the screen::

::James just runs past pile after pile of seeds, runs out before end of level::
wash.rinse.repeat.
Oh, James...lol
Metalpug79 same here. Wtf James?
he thought eating the seed refilled the meter, what it's actually is, is that if a seed gets off screen, you lose 1, if you pass 5, you lose a life.
who cares, they're not here to be mlg road runner players
Hey I'm Nerd
I'm Not-So-Nerd
Anthony Shuker relax, friend. it was just amusing that it seemed like he was ignoring what Mike was telling him to do.
Just having fun teasing them. No need swooping in to defend their honor like people were hurting their feelings. Its cool man.
"Jacques, have you been doing SEED?!"
"Back off old timer, this is cool stuff."
"We gotta get you straight Jacques, scared straight."
fewpolecat93- jay
"Okay maybe not that straight!"
The one good thing about this game is that the coyote finally wins.
are those any positives you can find?
The seed meter isn't based on time or how much seed you get, it's based on the seed you miss. Every time one exits the screen to the right due to scrolling, the meter moves. Miss five and you lose. That's it.
TheFireflyGrave thats bullshit tbh
Except when you see the score screen at the end of the stage -
"Missed 6 Bird Seed"
You've been successfully proven wrong.
HowDoUPlay that's what actually makes this show good.
I usually just take it that James isn't paying close attention and is focusing on playing. I mean, Mike was giving James advice throughout this episode, and James didn't seem to have registered most of it.
Heck, Mike didn't register most of Mike's advice. Mike is really bad at giving advice.
They're improved version of jerry and George from Seinfeld
Holy shit........ Ralph and Wile E are two different characters.
mugglesmonster AND I USED TO THINK THAT THEY ARE RELATED! But..... Unfortunately they are not..... Fucking idiots from the 1940s and their bullshit rules of segregation of no relation....
Lavon Media what?
Robert Harris It true... Look it up. They are two different characters.
Sir Osis of Thuliver It honestly was.
Lavon Media ya but what does segregation have to do with it. Their not even humam.
Mike: Keep Willey on the screen!
James: lolwhat?
Mike: Eat the seed!
James: lolwhat?
I started marathoning James & Mike from the beginning at the start of December and finally caught up!
9:44 Fucking hysterical. I love how Mike doesn't even say anything to James. He just lets the double entendre go, and the joke is between just him and the audience. Lol. That face.
There hasn't been this much seed eating since the Atari porn episode.
Elyseon haha thanks for the laugh you sir have your self a good day
This really seems like an atari game with a few more colors.
Phos9 it would be amazing graphics for an atari game.
What I mean is it's built with Atari 2600 sensibilities, which isn't that weird considering who Tengen were.
I think this is a port of a zx spectrum game. I had that version its very very similar if not exactly the same except it has color
Mike's hand hurts but at least James ate all the seed.
At 10:08 seeing James wipe his glasses gives me all the wrong ideas after they were just talking about him eating seeds
If Mike had a damn chart!
Speedy Gonzales for fuck's sake! He's a mouse who gets chased by Sylvester the cat!
Even Daffy Duck chases him.
"I just ate a lot of fucking seed!"
-James Rolfe (2017)
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Wile E. Coyote's favorite video game - the one where he actually CATCHES the Road Runner.
funny thing is i have the "Beep Beep" as my notification sound. When I saw the notification I couldnt stop smiling. Made my day!
I forgot this game existed. I remember renting it as a kid and liking it, but also never getting far. Heh.
Holy shiiiit I haven't seen or thought of this game in about 25 years. My parents used to rent it for me every now and then from the little mom and pop video store near our house. The nostalgia is strong.

Every seed pile you miss gets you closer to death.
Ship Raider was AWESOME!
Herman and Katnip were another cat and mouse duo from the 50s. The Katnip vs. Buzzy the Crow episodes were the best, though.
its like James was trying to avoid as many seeds as possible
I can't believe they played this game so long and never got the seed dynamic... basically, eating seed doesn't increase your seed meter, running past seed and letting it hit the right side of the screen reduces the seed meter. It's like a life bar and you take a hit every time you miss some seed. Sheep Raider is a good game worthy of a Mike play through. amd the roadrunner is in the game near the end but you don't chase him.
I did a short review of Sheep Raider a long time ago. You can check that out here
th-cam.com/video/JHJ5AT0xoyg/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching! -Mike
They made a Road Runner game about clumsily navigating a maze, while not moving very fast. The main challenge seems to wrestling with the controls to hit the bird seeds and avoid getting stuck on edges. Awesome.
Mike's expression and reaction at 9:47 is priceless.
Hey Mike, when you were talking about cat and mouse shows you neglected to mention Herman and Katnip, the inspiration for Itchy and Scratchy. There was also Punkin' Puss & Mushmouse and Cattanooga Cats by Hanna-Barbera.
Ryan Matera love Herman and Katnip. I have some pd vhs tapes with them. Thanks for watching-Mike
And then there's Motormouse and Autocat.
The Sheep Dog 'n' Wolf game was a game I rented and never forgot as a kid. Great game.
this is wonderful, I love everything cinemassacre does. you guys are awesome!
"I said to EAT THE SEED!" -Mike
I always loved this game growing up. I think it's actually pretty fun. And once you die the first time, they give you a "short cut" right at the beginning of the game so you don't have to redo the earlier levels.

That Desert Demolition game was so much fun.
Moments like 9:45 and 12:10 are what makes James and Mike Mondays great.
mike's laugh really jollifies my day
Sheep Raaider was also named Sheep, Dog n' Wolf depending on the region. I had that game as a child, it was great, but some of the puzzles were really challenging for me back then. I was also pretty good at it, too. I also loved the music from the 3rd level. Used to pause the game just to listen to it.
Anyone else catch the "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" line?
This reminded me of that family guy episode. Willie was having a conversation with one of his friends. His friend said, so you spent your whole life trying to catch that bird, what are you doing now. Willie is now a waiter.
As a kid i had a gameboy. One day a friend of mine showed me Road Runner on his Sega GameGear. I was absolutely blown away. I really wanted a GameGear back then :P
I love this game. So many memories.
I rented that game.. I still regret spending that tree-fiddy to this day.
The arcade roadrunner was pretty damn good, hard as nails. Right up there with Willow and Empire Strikes Back. Good enough to drop a quarter in and give it a try, bad enough to walk away and spend the rest of the roll on Xmen or TMNT.
I also liked Road Runner's Death Valley Rally on the SNES. I thought it was pretty fun, and eventually got good enough to beat it.
After watching these videos for a long time. Anyone else feel that Mike is the real Video Game Nerd? James is the Angry part but Mike is the rest.
James and Mike prove that no matter what activity you're doing, the company is what determines if it's enjoyable or not.
Death Valley Rally was actually pretty awesome. Watching the Coyote getting smacked down after the boss fights was great!
The irony of the Road Runner cartoons is that a coyote has a higher top speed than a roadrunner.
If you guys didn't notice, the seed meter decreases only when you miss a seed pile. You can only miss 5 seeds before you get stunned. It doesn't matter how many are actually eaten.
This is a port of the Atari arcade from 1985. It was damn hard in the arcade. I didn't know they ported it to NES.
I had this game as a Kid! it normally loops after 4 or 5 levels I think. it's arcade like, similar to Mario and DK. It's all about high scores.
You should count these as AVGN episodes because they're just as good and classic.

I really hope an AVGN episode comes out of this, maybe paired with other Looney Tunes games, it's been a while since the nerd last beat the crap out of bugs bunny.
I believe the Bugs Bunny's suit was sold on a charity auction
This is the perfect episode to be animated.
That was pretty fun to watch. Thanks guys
With the noises Mike was making at the end, it sounded like he was making his own seed.
I have Sheep Raider. The back of the packaging actually mentions that Road Runner does make an appearance in that game (I haven't gotten to that point in the game).
Seeing Mike roast a game is an amazing sight to behold
Your older videos where amazing. Do more of those !!
Seed meter goes down every seed that exits the screen on the right, you need to collect them all.
I used to love roadrunner as well. When we were younger, we would always yell MEEP MEEP when running around.

I watch a lot of these videos at work.... Love it when I feel like the volume is just right and a "FUCK" comes out of left field.
I vaguely recall playing this at the arcade. I remember a few years later, I was at a video store and saw this and regretted that I didn't rent it, as I was a big fan of Road Runner not to mention the fact that I figured it'd be easy to win because Wile E. This game was freakin' hard!!! I could not get past Level 2. Thank you guys for showing this game!
James is right, you should be playing as Wile E Coyote, not the Road Runner.
4:50 "Maybe catch something easier, like a rabbit."
You mean like Bugs Bunny? Yeah, he tried that.
Even by being super genius and being able to talk, he didn't manage to catch him.
Oh my god 13:40
"Was it painful for you too?" -Mike
Thank God you don't still call this James and Mike Play...
Benjamin Brown
"I'll be more aggressive ontop." - James to Mike during their Contra episode playthrough.
I think that was right about the time they did change it from "Play" to "Mondays" XD
For cat-and-mice chase cartoons, there's also Herman and Katnip, from Paramount's Famous Studios. Or Itchy and Scratchy, which was more of a spoof.
Cat and mouse cartoons... Herman & Katnip. And then Itchy & Scratchy who were a nod to the whole cartoon violence.
love the random 'Its aMad, Mad, Mad, Mad World' reference James.
This game looks like it really sucks.
To quote a great man: "this game sucks"
Rikard and down it with beer?
It doesn't suck, it FUCKING SUCKS!
Charlie Da Awesome it fucking sucks it fucks, it sucking fucks it sucks!
It really sucks seeds :P
The Nerd should totally do Road Runner games for the next AVGN episode.
1:40 If I'm not mistaking, though the Road Runner did appear in the tutorial of that game.
I remember playing desert demolition a lot as a kid. good times.
Their contrast in energy levels was amusing(?).
I have this one on the 2600! I actually used to love it on the 2600 back in the day. Never played the NES version, though.
when I was a kid I didn't even consider the road runner a character, he wasn't even in the cartoons much, it was mainly Willey and his crazy acme purchases. I agree, would be much more fun catching the stupid bird.
I feel like the insane computer beeping "music" is what made Hinkley shoot Reagan.
Don't forget Herman and Katnip. Even if I was an 80s kid, Harveytoons were one of my favs.
The fucking zoom in on Mike's face. Perfect
James: "You just got some seed"
Mike: "I know, it doesn't last at all!"
James: "Not even a second!"
And James just ate a lot of fucking seed.
Coyote failing to catch the Road Runner in many hilarious ways. ;)
The seed-meter goes down when you miss a seed. If the seeds pass the edge of the screen you loose a bowl of seed.
As a kid, I used the Game Genie to get to level 99 thinking the game might end at level 100, and it didn't. It keeps going... forever...
Have you guys ever played "Desert Speedtrap Starring Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote" for the Sega Master System/Game Gear?
It had some awesome graphics and, althought not perfect, was fairly playable.
Try checking this out!
loved this game as a child
