I was in middle school/ high school when the books were coming out and my friends loved them (I was lukewarm on the, until Breaking Dawn) and so we went to see them in theaters. We really enjoyed laughing at how bad the films were.

She really does use them as backups.. key word “use” she’s always using someone for her own benefit… she comes off as all “innocent and nice” But honestly even tho she “loves” Edward she never dares about what he wants.. which is to not change her.. he said be would be with her until she’s old and grey and is eventually gone.. but she’s to superficial and thinks he won’t love her if she looks old. And she just wants to be a vampire regardless.. and don’t get me started on Jacob.. she uses him constantly.. basically the entire series up until the last one but she still uses him then too at times. She may have told Jacob that she chose Edward but her actions and “vibes” say otherwise. She really led Jacob on. If she didn’t like him in that way then she would show it and not just say it. She’s also kinda said she likes him in little ways throughout the series. She treats her dad like crap by always making Charlie worry.. and the choices she makes.. basically Bella is ✨ selfish ✨
My favorite thing about this series is the whole "if my partner won't have me/is possibly dead then I'm gonna kill myself to be with them" vibes 💅🏽 I remember watching this with my dad when it came out (I was 9) and he turned to me and drilled it into my head how unhealthy this was and to never be in a relationship like this ever. At 21 I just wanna say, tHANK YOU DAD FOR NOT LETTING ME LOOK UP TO THIS BS 😂💛

Edward has foolishly made her the center of his world and when he thinks she's dead immediately jumps to suicide as his answer. When he breaks up with her she goes into a downward spiral, doing stupidly dangerous things just to feed her own hallucinations. Even in the later movies Edward is all for death if Bella isn't going to be alive with him even though he had you know who to take care of. Grieving the loss of a lover is one thing. But both of their responses are very toxic and idiotic and that's what my original comment is geared towards. I even knew that something wasn't right about their relationship at 9 years old. Now that I'm older and have had long term relationships I can see even clearer just how bad of a couple they are. Heck, psychology professors at my university used them as an example of toxic relationships by breaking down their dynamics and exposing their "romance" for what it really is. Toxic. To be fair, Edward didn’t react like Bella smelled bad the first time he saw her because she actually smelled bad. It’s actually because the smell of her blood was so enticing to him, he almost lost control right then and there and killed her. They don’t really elaborate on that in the movies; it’s kind of one of those things only people who read the books would know LOL These movies are honestly hilarious! The books, to me, do a much better job at character development than the movies do, and because of that there isn't the same understanding of why the characters come off the... what's a good word... questionable(?) way that they do in the movies. The plot and premise of the movies, from what I can remember, both do a pretty good job at staying (predominantly) on point with what's in the books. - Just my 2 pesos that absolutely nobody asked for, haha
Development yes, but there's more abuse and manipulation from all fronts that make it terrible to read and horrifying to ponder when people take it seriously...even Charlie gets worse later on the books...
although the book is better it still had some very questionable writing choices and plot lines to be honest, I remember being shocked at some of the things that were written

I realize they don’t explain quite a few things in the movies lol like when my brother was asking my why the wolves don’t wear shirts so often (which the books explains is because of the clothes ripping situation when they transform). It sure does confuse people who haven’t read the books.
Aro is the best character in any of these movies and no one can convince me otherwise. #bingers Beauty and the Beast (1991), Stardust (2007), Pride and Prejudice (2005), Ever After, and The Mummy (1999).
Now that I think about it, I actually do like quite a few of the other characters. Like Esme, Carlisle, and Emmett for example. I just don't like the main three characters which is the problem cause the story revolves around them.

I always love the irony of the fact that by pushing Bella across the room while trying to protect her from Jasper because of a tiny paper cut he actually made things worse because she ended up bleeding even more and needing stitches .
To clarify, the reason Edward covers his nose in the first one is that her scent made him thirst for blood so much more than normal humans so he was trying hard to control himself. It’s the same reason he was being so weird when they first kiss, because he was still struggling not to bite her, but as he spends more time around her he learns to control himself.

Thinking back on it, when I read the books and watched the movies all those years ago, it was because I was in love with Jacob. Not because of what he looked like but because of his character. He let Bella be Bella, and do what she wanted. And did try to take care of her. He was kind and funny, and didn't resent her for her choices.
True LOVE no matter the relationship is taking ones best interests as your own so someone elses pain IS YOUR PAIN and so on.which makes it much more difficult to lie or mistreat someone you fully understand because you're in tune with them

I read the books too and wanted to see it on film. Midnight showings were the best. As I said last week...guilty pleasure.

To be fair I still think the books are better than the movies and I am so sorry you are about to put yourself through the weirdest emotional struggle while watching these movies but I can't wait to see your reaction
The books, to me, do a much better job at character development than the movies do, and because of that there isn't the same understanding of why the characters come off the... what's a good word... questionable(?) way that they do in the movies. The plot and premise of the movies, from what I can remember, both do a pretty good job at staying (predominantly) on point with what's in the books. - Just my 2 pesos that absolutely nobody asked for, haha
Nah, at least the movies had a little bit of humor in them, the books took themselves way too serious. And I absolutely loved the music in the movies.
Development yes, but there's more abuse and manipulation from all fronts that make it terrible to read and horrifying to ponder when people take it seriously...even Charlie gets worse later on the books...
although the book is better it still had some very questionable writing choices and plot lines to be honest, I remember being shocked at some of the things that were written

I realize they don’t explain quite a few things in the movies lol like when my brother was asking my why the wolves don’t wear shirts so often (which the books explains is because of the clothes ripping situation when they transform). It sure does confuse people who haven’t read the books.

Now that I think about it, I actually do like quite a few of the other characters. Like Esme, Carlisle, and Emmett for example. I just don't like the main three characters which is the problem cause the story revolves around them.

I always love the irony of the fact that by pushing Bella across the room while trying to protect her from Jasper because of a tiny paper cut he actually made things worse because she ended up bleeding even more and needing stitches .

To clarify, the reason Edward covers his nose in the first one is that her scent made him thirst for blood so much more than normal humans so he was trying hard to control himself. It’s the same reason he was being so weird when they first kiss, because he was still struggling not to bite her, but as he spends more time around her he learns to control himself.

Thinking back on it, when I read the books and watched the movies all those years ago, it was because I was in love with Jacob. Not because of what he looked like but because of his character. He let Bella be Bella, and do what she wanted. And did try to take care of her. He was kind and funny, and didn't resent her for her choices.
Jacob is just as toxic as Edward. Just in a different way :/
