Thank you Mike. I didn't realise that you had already made a video about this story before asking you to do one the other day. Becky was my half sister and your video was a really good watch. Whilst remaining respectful to Becky and the ones we still class as family, you were still able to bring a smile to my face and even made me chuckle. This video is one I really thank you for and I know my Dad (whom I share with Becky) is going to appreciate this video as well after watching. Many thanks for 'giving it a goo' 🥰
My condolences to you and your family. Mike is always respectful to the victims in these stories and I'm glad to hear he represented everyone in the proper manor. Although justice may not have been rightfully served with Shauna.
@@jeremycbarnhart2305 serious, what does that have to do with anything? OP is most likely right. Dude was suffering/struggling with mental health issues, beat and choked his MUCH younger girlfriend (in her teens if you recall) who she herself also had mental health issues and both of them seemingly obsessed with doing vile and unspeakable shit to younger teen girls. @The Slap pleasant? somehow you seem to use the word "pleasant" in the wrong context here. A took ache isn't pleasant , falling from your bicycle isn't pleasant, having a sun burn isnt pleasant.. But cutting someone into pieces is on a whole different level then unpleasant buddy. More in the category of, If you can actually take a saw and grind trough the bones/skin/ligaments of a "not so shortly before" living individual (which undoubtable is insanely hard and requires plenty of effort, thus time to constantly be confronted with the horror of it and what you are doing ) and eventually reach the neck and head of someone while looking at it uuuuuGGgghhhhHHHh (just the idea of it somehow reduces my sanity to that of a goldfish) you are next level bat shit crazy bud. @The Slap Are you kidding me? Do you know what you said!? prior to my reply!? You blatantly divulged that you could not do away with a body unless you ( in your own words) "much better chance if you divide into sections and dispose of slowly over the course of a couple of days. Inconspicuous like." Soooo my response to that is! Why would you even do something like that?? And in that i try and draw to you a picture of how grotesque your "VERY unpleasant" reply to me was if full detail. But like i said you obviously put some thought into it ( it would not even cross my mind, how to get or even get rid of a body) I hope you are aware of what you said at first, and how nonchalant that sounded to us people, who, where the thought of getting rid of a body wouldn't even cross our minds.
I had really bad social anxiety when I was a teen, Many people thought I was stuck up and self-centered, meanwhile i was just scared of people. So this really hurts me watch.
Oh things are much better. I have gotten over my social anxiety for the most part and don't have these issues at all anymore. I am lucky in that I was able to deal with it.

If she was not receptive to his advances he would likely take it very hard, being the narc he clearly is. @@PrinceMarcusWilliam your sentence and eligibility for parole aren't the same length, you're able to apply for parole shortly before you've served half your sentence.
As soon as I heard “stepbrother that was twelve years older than her,” my mind jumped to sexually-motivated murder. Maybe it’s a sign I’ve consumed way too much true crime content.
Interesting that he was 20 something when his girlfriend was 14 and they both later go on to be predators of young teenage girl. Makes me wonder about the effect their relationship had on Shauna since she was at a young age and how the way Nathan treated her and what he did to her could've effected her decision to do this to other girls. Abused to Abuser.
I think she wanted to self destruct. In a weird way, she was killing her own young, innocent self. She was groomed and victimized too. It’s all a shame. The parents should not have ever allowed their grown son so be with a child. They’re to blame as well.
To be fair if you read the book about this, you will learn that when brought Shaunna home his dad was very upset and would not allow him to bring her into the house or be anywhere near the house untill she was older.
@@brendashorten I think Becky was seen as “the other woman” by her and was always resented by him for being “off limits” (since we know he’s a pedo, is incest really unrealistic?)
@John Ellis One big reason why I live away from home. My uncle and dad have greatly contributed to my self esteem issues, and resulting depression. It's easier to live away from home, no matter how much they don't like the fact that I only come home every couple of weeks.
Shawna was aging out of Nathan's sexual preference but Becky was exactly what he wanted. And Shawna would have noted the way he was becoming obsessive about her. Would have recognized it from when she herself was Becky's age. And Shawna feared that she was losing her "man". She was probably way more involved in this killing than she admitted. Had they not been caught, their lives would have mirrored those of other killer couples, many of whom had roughly the same age difference, wife/partner participating willingly in the hunt for the kind of girl she herself used to be: younger. Poor Becky. I doubt she ever did ANYTHING to provoke either half of that couple, aside from merely existing.
@Nuke Ireland Sometimes I wonder if evil people leave something of themselves behind in a place, something just waiting to attach itself to the next person who matches them in terms of malice, cruelty and narcissism. @@teslagirl1 Well there's a discernable difference in the smell of human sweat whether it's excreted in fear, during fitness, or fornication. So the night sweat emitted from someone white-knuckling his own aggressive impulses and physical manifestations of unaddressed trauma would be a pretty heady blend. Add some fevered rage fapping and a constant almost consuming wash of shame, that house would probably leak misery every time someone boiled water like a smoker in a sauna, the toxins just extruding out the pores. It's not evil but maybe evil's trigger smell, sparking an epigenetic memory in the olfactory bulbs, signaling to someone's more lizard-minded ancestor that the world is back in survival mode and every hominid is out for themselves. Or hurt people hurt and if there's any shred of conscience left in them they're begging for an excuse to rid themselves of the uninstructed pain. P.S. Yup anyone directly involved should get the exact same sentence the only thing that should mitigate it is if they turn themselves in and admit it before being caught. Showing remorse before being caught is the only remorse I believe is real rather than remorse that they're going to prison.
Agree. They sort of remind me of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka wannabes. If they'd have gotten away with this one murder I think there would have been so many more considering she was literally looking for girls to please him. This doesn't even seem like that much of an escalation of behavior for him. He hits adulthood, finds a child, grooms her into a longterm "relationship" (as much as a child can be in a relationship with an adult). That surprisingly works out fine for him all the way until she ages out of childhood, when his fantasies start acting up again. The older his girlfriend gets, the more he wants to move on to the next child.
Someone who is void of compassion, ethics, and decency towards their fellow people. However, they do possess these qualities when it involves their "own" person. These types are in of themselves a paradox.

I was teased and bullied because I could barely function on my own, which didn't help the matter. Grown out of much of it, but to this day I'm still not a conversationalist. It fucking sucks to have.
I used to be the same, it got a bit better but... I am still very grateful when a friend orders my food in a restaurant. I prefer texting to calling and rarely pick up a call at all. I order everything online except of groceries (yet)...
It’s not something I can understand AT ALL. I’m glad I never had a child who suffers from this because I’d probably be impatient and mean to them. I can hear myself screaming “SHAPE UP! GROW UP!! I'm from England and this was one of the most incredibly sad cases I've ever seen. And remember it well when it was being reported in our media. It was hard reading the facts of the case back then and just as difficult now. Poor Poor girl.
Life in prison is many times not life in prison in these so called civilized nations so what is needed is the death penalty. The religious nuts need to stop protesting against it. I was religious but had enough common sense to know these people need to be rid of so the world is a better place possibly. Heck I am tired of drunk drivers getting away with killing people too. If you know what you did is wrong then you should suffer the ultimate consequence of that. These people here knew what they did was wrong.
@@DeViLzzz2006 I find in the US it's normally people that aren't religious that are against the death penalty. I go back and forth on the death penalty - I think for certain horrendous crimes then ya I want that person to suffer and die, but is that just letting my emotions decide? At the same time, who are we to decide who lives and who dies? Not to mention the number of innocent people that have been put to death on false charges - how many innocent lives are worth it to put some of the guilty to death? Many would say even the loss of one innocent life is reason enough to abolish the death penalty. Also, death row inmates cost tax payers far more than inmates charged with life in prison. It's definitely a complicated topic, and not as simple as "you did bad thing, you get death."

The sadness of that judge on 22:27 hit me hard. The anguish on his face. Really illustrates very clearly the effect individuals actions can have on a community.
It reminds me of that case in Canada where a woman named Karla Homolka and her boyfriend kidnapped her own sister among other girls and tortured her to death. She got way less time than he did, only 12 years, got out and has a family and children. She has the nerve to complain about being "harrassed." The system is incredibly soft on women.

Nathan "Obviously I wanted to teach her a lesson, and obviously I saw something about scaring her on the telly, and obviously I accidentally strangled her" Obviously Nathan is a psychopath!
I loved that part too....how in the hell do you accidentally strangle someone... pushing them and they die or hitting them and they die, would be accidental but how do you accidentally strangle someone
Obviously, indeed! Even if he hadn’t planned on killing her, the “lesson” he wanted to teach was undoubtedly that he would hurt her if she didn’t comply with his demands. Classic sexual predator. If he ever gets out, he’ll do it again.
Nooooo waaaaaaay. You guys saw the interview. She *very clearly* stated she had nothing to do with it. Just look how hard she was thinking when they asked her if she knew anything about it! Way too genuine to be lying.
What they don’t tell you in this video is, her and her older brother were in foster care for a bit. This caused her anxiety. Also she was super attached to her step mom and then she the stepmom was diagnosed with MS and only recently getting over being blind for a short time during an attack. This is when her son, the stepmoms son, kills her Becky.
I remember watching this case by another True Crime creator, that monster of a step brother put Becky through hell all the time and when you read into what was all said and done throughout the years there is no doubt nobody could see that he had serious issues but also had a very strong "distaste" for Becky that went beyond a "brother/sister type relationship" so it doesn't surprise me how he tried to trash her character. I just feel like there were signs that parents would be able to notice. I feel for her parents and I hope Becky is at peace, her light should still be here. 👼 Another great and put together video Mike 😊 currently going through and watching all video's.
But as we are living in the age of the internet....her sentence is life. In fact.... she'll be more miserable outside the structured "society" of prison than in civvy street. Even for the most mundane jobs you need a DBS check. Her life is over...
There is a book on this case written by the father of Becky Watts, Darren Galsworthy. For anyone interested, the book is called 'The Evil Within'. It is a very good read and goes into a lot of detail.
@@TapDancerDood What was the need in saying this? She was a young girl and what happened to her was awful. Keep ur religion out of this- of course she is at peace.
I remember this case. Really upset by it. Becky's friends said that she was afraid of her stepbrother and that he used to say terrible things to her. What bothered me, and still does when I think about her, is how come the 'family' did not notice. The stepmother just looked down in the televised pleading by the father. Where was her biological mother? That poor girl suffered bullying etc... Some cases really get to you, and this one get to me. There is a history here.
I reckon he was abusing from very young. To have eating disorders and anxiety and fear of him would certainly produce that. Also he was driving around 12 year olds. The bloke was a nonce
I'm having trouble watching this video. It strongly resonates with me. It's such a sad and tragic tale. I feel heartbroken about Becky and those who loved her and the future she was robbed of. She deserved so much. I can't wrap my mind around how unfair life is and that such beautiful people are hurt so badly and never get to heal and shine.

This story angers me to tears. This beautiful young girl got a really shitty, raw deal in her short life. She suffered with social anxiety and poor body image early on thanks to her own crappy "half" relative & still continued being a kind person, looking to move on and upwards in her life. Hate is so strong in people, hate and jealousy - the girlfriend of Nathan was clearly jealous of Becky and deserves the same punishment. Yes it's true ! they also have something else in common, those young couples were still living in the parents' home and it is not healthy at all. @@teslagirl1 Well there's a discernable difference in the smell of human sweat whether it's excreted in fear, during fitness, or fornication. Also she was super attached to her step mom and then she the stepmom was diagnosed with MS and only recently getting over being blind for a short time during an attack. This is when her son, the stepmoms son, kills her Becky.
Shauna referred to Becky in the past tense in her interview, despite Becky hadn't been found dead.

When Shauna said Becky "was" is huge red flag. She's subconsciously using past tense and she knows more than she's saying.
There is a book on this case written by the father of Becky Watts, Darren Galsworthy. For anyone interested, the book is called 'The Evil Within'. It is a very good read and goes into a lot of detail.

I remember this case. Really upset by it. Becky's friends said that she was afraid of her stepbrother and that he used to say terrible things to her. Where was her biological mother? That poor girl suffered bullying etc... Some cases really get to you, and this one get to me. There is a history here.
I think the stepmother already knew.
She probably wanted to save her actual son more than anything else
I reckon he was abusing from very young. To have eating disorders and anxiety and fear of him would certainly produce that. Also he was driving around 12 year olds. The bloke was a nonce

I'm having trouble watching this video. It strongly resonates with me. It's such a sad and tragic tale. I feel heartbroken about Becky and those who loved her and the future she was robbed of. She deserved so much. I can't wrap my mind around how unfair life is and that such beautiful people are hurt so badly and never get to heal and shine.

@@oliveryt7168 It's something investigators have seen as a pattern: the people who refer to the person in the past tense - while everyone is still looking for them - tend to be guilty
Yup, when she said "she was", that was a red flag.
Just because they didn't immediately throw it in her face doesn't mean they didn't notice. There's a subtle art to good police interrogation. We only saw like 30 seconds of their interrogations. They likely did bring it up.
If a person can be this sick and twisted at such a young age, without intense rehabilitation this person stands zero chance of ever becoming a productive, respectable member of society.
Thank you Danielle for being so direct. Absolutely agree with you.
Why was she jealous of Becky? I think that is trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense.
